Description:

Perfect for doing double duty as a PC monitor and a home-theater centerpiece, Zenith's P42W34 offers a 42-inch widescreen plasma display with a stunning 1,200:1 contrast ratio and daylight-rivaling 1,000 cd/m2 brightness. This is an EDTV monitor, which means it's a step closer to high-definition (HDTV) than standard TVs. When used with a progressive-scan DVD player (or 480p-output DTV set-top box) you'll get seamless, razor-sharp images from your favorite movies and concert videos.

A plasma display offers wider viewing angles than an LCD screen, giving you considerable freedom in placing it. You can put it right between favorite stereo loudspeakers, even if those speakers lack magnetic shielding: flat-panel screens are impervious to magnetic distortion. The P42W34's screen offers 852 x 480p resolution for an extremely detailed image. RS-232 controls as well as high-definition DVI (with HDCP copy protection), NTSC (composite-video, S-video, and high-definition component-video), and PC RGB (15-pin type-D connector for VGA, SVGA, XGA, or SXGA) inputs ensure the P42W34's compatibility with DTV set-top boxes, DVD players, VCRs, computers, and additional video sources.

Other features include aspect-ratio correction (intelligent resizing of video and computer images to 16:9 widescreen or conventional 4:3 aspect ratio) and Intelligent Image Scaling, which employs a Faroudja DCDi de-interlacer to seamlessly translate TV video data to PC formats without distortion. Speakers are not included, but the unit offers an onboard 10-watts-per-channel stereo amplifier and speaker jacks should you wish to connect an optional set like the Zenith P42WSPL.
