Summary: live clapton at his best
Review: 24 nights is Clapton at his pre unplugged full tilt electric best. Sometimes his live shows are uninspired, but this video is not to be missed. The editing is excellent and guitar players will love the nice shots of his left & right hand technique. Nice cameos by Robert Cray/Buddy Guy & Phil Collins. I bought this video in 1991 or 1992 and it still is one I pop in often. "Old Love" and "Bad Love" are the highlights plus excellent rearranged versions of his older stuff. I have most of his film footage & videos, but if you only want 1 Clapton video this is the one to buy.

Summary: Slowhand at his best
Review: A great DVD, awesome sound. The four piece, blues and nine piece band sections are fantastic. The Orchestra songs don't work as well, I'd have much rather heard "Bell Bottom Blues" done by the blues band.

This one was over too soon. I could listen to old Slowhand all night.

Summary: Highlight left out
Review: Entertaining footage and lively show, but "Badge", the best song of the album/concert was left out.

Summary: You Want The Best????????
Review: Eric Clapton 24 Nights takes you through a journey with his differnt bands including The 4 Piece Band, The Blues Band, The 9 Piece Band, and The Orchestra. This DVD runs 90 minutes with many special guests including Phil Collins, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Nathan East, and more. If your looking for a great Eric Clapton performence this one is for you! Their are many great songs including the bluesy Watch Yourself, The Orchestrated Bell Bottom Blues, Bad Love, Old Love, and White Room. If your looking for early songs try watching Sunshine Of Your Love with the the 4 Piece Band. These performences are just great recorded at the Royal Albert Hall, London in 1990 & 1991. This is truely a must have for all guitarist across the world!!!

Summary: Clapton at His Best
Review: Eric Clapton, in concert at the Royal Albert Hall, on DVD: What more is there for a Clapton fan? The 24 Nights Concert is the greatest concert Clapton has ever given. His solos are unbelievable (esp. on "Bad Love" and "Old Love") and the various arrangements (5 Piece Band - Phillinganes, East, Ferrone, Collins; Blues Band - Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Jamie Oldaker, et al; 9 Piece Band - Phillinganes, East, Ferrone, et al; and Orchestra) add interesting depth to Clapton's already strong music. Naturally, such a superior collection of music and an assemblage of musical talent is conveyed to the viewer with the latest and greatest of audio and video technology. The superb video quality and the LPCM audio (no Dolby Digital or DTS compression here!) brings out all Clapton's music and talent has to offer. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone with even a slight interest in Clapton and his music. It is a truly great work.

Summary: Superb electric concert
Review: For me, it's the best Clapton's electric concert available on video. All the invited musicians are fantastic, Clapton is at his best, the sound is great - in spite of the low volume - and the image is OK. It worthes the investment.

Summary: Eric Clapton: 24 Nights
Review: Great video, but just like the Laser Disc version they left off "Badge" which is on the CD version.

Summary: Surprisingly poor audio mix for a DVD! Save your money!
Review: Has anybody noticed the poor audio on this DVD? It's horribly compressed!

Why would they use the audio mix from the original video as opposed to the mix that was used on the accompanying 2CD set release of "Eric Clapton - 24 nights"?

The CD-Set has a quite superb sound, but the DVD mix is almost unlistenable, everything is buried in the middle.

For all purposes, DVD gives you the technology to make it sound even better than on the audio CD.

WB hasn't even remixed the sound to Dolby Digital, that's how much care has been put into this (the picture could be better, too).

I can only conclude this must have been one of the first DVD releases. Maybe I'm just spoiled by "Hell freezes over" but IMHO WB should correct this flaw!

[And one more thing WB: The days of 90 min. videos should be over; this release could have been expanded to double its size given the material available].

A thorough disappointment!

Summary: Don't Listen to the Gregory Costa review !!!
Review: I am a professional entertainer, guitarist and recording engineer since the mid 1960's.
I could not stand by and let somebody with NO recording expertise bash this recording.
He says, "No choice in sound selection", No surround sound?".
That's right Greg ! There is NO WAY to make a quality surround sound recording if it wasn't recorded that way originally.
Stereo recordings are generally superior after many years of serious development, and don't rely on " sonic gemicks" and " audio trickery".
Most of the people have given Eric's DVD a good recomendation for good reason. BUY IT ! Be careful who you listen to.
Thanks, DKW
