Summary: Must have for Shania fans
Review: A great DVD for any fans of Shania. I had the VHS of her Woman in Me and Come On Over video collections. But this DVD also has videos from her self titled first album and a bonus video from her Thanksgiving special in Dallas. Surround 5.1 is not an option, only stereo. Not a lot of DVD extras on this but superb sound and picture quality. Much better than her previous VHS releases. 21 Shania videos for about 71 cents each is a great bargain.

Summary: Shania Twain - The Platinum Collection
Review: A year or so ago, feeling low, perusing the DVD store, I saw a face. A sexy half smile with wild hair, a pretty woman in a silver velvet dress, and I smiled. I could not help but posses her. It was that first collection of Shania music and concert videos, a DVD called "Shania Twain - The Platinum Collection." Feeling a bit low tonight, I watched and listened to her, and I smiled once again.

I remember the first music video of Shania I ever saw. It was that sort of silly "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?" The image that completely captured my imagination was Shania sashaying in that long low cut wine red dress, clearly nothing beneath the soft cloth but just her, and I remember thinking, "who in the heck is that?" Soon to find out, I bought her very first album, and was forever a fan of her image and sweet country voice. Her first two albums were very country and were sans Mutt. They were not a commercial success - sad to say, but they were very good and very honest - pure.

Anyway, back to the "Platinum Collection." If you are considering a penultimate sampling of Shania, this is the DVD to get. There are a few contrived MTV moments (never her image) but by in large this is an extremely satisfying collection of all Shania, all the time, from her simple rural pretty woman roots, to the rock concert diva, and then to an exotically beautiful female that from many angles of male vision, has no peer. This is an evolution, and I think Mr. Darwin would agree, worth pursuing. YES!

Of the twenty one clips from this DVD the tracks that I took particular notice of were:

1. "What Made You Say That" - A fun little romp - Shania's track one on her first album.

4. "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under" - For the memory of that first visage of the lady in red.

5. "Any Man of Mine" - This is Shania at her most adorable. She is not yet beautiful, but she is so very attractive, so pretty and fun.

13. "Don't Be Stupid" - A typical music video of the typical style, yet when Shania starts to strut to that Celtic Irish fiddle beat, and splashes that water all around - oh my I get goose bumps thinking of her all wet. Hot stuff!

15. "Honey, I'm Home" - A truism country two step tune and story - The wife has had a bad day - Look out! But the unique thing about this vignette is that it is, of the several concert pieces on the DVD, the very best. Shania is in all her glory, inciting her audience to new heights of orgasmic worship, and she drinks it all in.

16. "From This Moment On" - You might think me a sentimental fool, but this song mists my eyes every time I listen to it. It is the anthem of unconditional love. In this video, Shania is as beautiful a woman that has ever graced the planet. And it is her feminine perfection that pays homage to this total love. Unforgettable.

But the whole collection is wonderful - sure there are some self-important moments, and some really dumb make no sense imagery, but through it all is Shania's wonderful smile, and her lovely lilting voice. This is great stuff!

Summary: Shania
Review: Excellent retrospect for Shania's videos. Would have been nice to include "When" but I imagine it's not included because that video was only released in Europe. "You win my love" and "You've got a way" audio is little different versions than I've heard. Perhaps they are the international versions? Dolby digital 2.0 sound is nice. I wish it was closed captioned, unfortunately it isn't.

Summary: With dvd's today this title needs more
Review: Getting all her videos together is worth getting the dvd alone, but the fact it's missing 5.1 sound or any digital sound is quit disapointing. And with dvd's today I expect more. Some special features would have been nice, like a Shania commentary would have been fantastic. An interview or making of, or anything?

But the dvd is worth getting. Her video's are great. You gotta love "Man! I feel like a woman"

Summary: What's Not To Like?!
Review: I bought this DVD last Summer and have watched it quite a few times since. It has all of Shania's music videos except for "When", which is no big loss. Shania is a pleasure to see and hear--what's not to like?! I highly recommend it.

Summary: An audio-visual extravaganza
Review: I could easily listen to Shania Twain all day long, and as pretty as she is, I could watch her all day long too. This DVD gives me the best of both worlds. There is a ton of stuff on here that I have never seen before and it is really cool to have all of this content in one place - I love DVDs! This on is super inexpensive too - (...) - that means that anyone who is even remotely interested in Shania Twain should pick this up. It will nurture a greater appreciation for her music, her talent, and her gorgeous, gorgeous body.

Summary: Exellent All The Way
Review: I enjoy this DVD immensely. I don't know what to say to those that claim the sound is poor; Perhaps they should get a better stereo system. I have a 7.1 Denon receiver with Dahlquist DQ-10's and this DVD sounds excellent in 7-Channel Stereo. Another plus is that you get 100% Shania. Something that bothers me with the live-performance recordings is when they have people from the audience come on stage and screw up the songs that you want to see the star performer do. At least the studio versions eliminate this.

The last point I'd like to make about Shania Twain is that when I have witnessed people that express disdain for her and her music, they are typically insecure jealous females or males who are whipped by the former. She is both a beautiful woman and very talented. Her looks aren't what makes her a star; there are many gorgeous women who don't make it in music. In fact, one of qualities I look for when seeking a romantic partner is a woman who isn't a Shania-Hater and isn't intimidated by her beauty.
