Summary: Where's Rock in Rio 3 DVD?
Review: Friends,

I'm a brazilian fan of Maiden and i bought that one because it is the only one Maiden show available on DVD. The fake scenario is really bad, but it is Maiden.

I went to Rock in Rio 3 show at Rio de Janeiro and it was really amazing (I don't have words to explain), and i'm waiting for the promise that the show will be available soon on DVD and CD.

You have to wait and see!!!!

Regards.

Summary: Amazing concert...But whats with the "magic" show???
Review: I am a huge Iron Maiden, and know everything there is to know about maiden, and I was so excited to get this dvd. The concert was amazing although Bruce's vocals were hard to hear. But what was with the magic show. Simon doesn't have any talent. On the track "from here to eternity" simon attempts to cut off daveys hands, and replace them with his. Simon then acts like he's playing the guitar solo with dave's hands. It's very cheesy. As well with all the other cheep magic tricks he attempts to perform. It might have been a good show if they chose a beter magician. Other than that the concert was awesome. As always displaying their amazing stage performance. And even adding some older song to the playlist.

Starting off with "be quick or be dead" just shows you how great Iron Maiden is live. Then "The Trooper" another Iron Maiden classic. "The Evil That Men Do" arising from maiden's "synthy" era. Then "The clairovant", also arising from seventh son...Then "Hallowed Be Thy Name" another maiden classic which gives metal, a good name. Then going back to the beginning to "Wrathchild". Then to "Transylvania". A classic instrumental. "From here to eternity" one off of FOTD. Then to "Fear of the Dark" one of maiden's best songs to date. Then to "Number of the Beast", always the show stopper. Then "Bring Your Daughter...To the slaughter" a mid tempo song off NPFTD. Then to "Two Minutes to Midnight" always a great song. Then to one of my favorites, "Afraid to Shoot Strangers". "Heaven can wait" is next, one of maiden's sing a long songs. Then to another classic "Sanctuary". Then of course you gotta have "Run to the Hills" one maiden's self proclaimed best songs ever. Then nothing makes an Iron Maiden concert without their seftitled track "Iron Maiden", another classic starting back to their first album. So if you're a huge maiden fan, and don't already own this...THen get it! just don't mind the magic show.

Summary: an okay video of a great band
Review: I bought this thinking "Great! A new video of my faves!". I was disappointed with the sound quality. And knowing Steve Harris is picky about those kinds of things, I figure they just rushed this out and told him it would be great. The music is good, but the magic show is crap to just detract form the band. he's not even good at what he does! I think the "Live After death" video needs to be put on DVD right now! I have gone through 3 copies of the VHS. Their Live In Rio DVD is cool, even if I am not a big fan of their latest stuff. I would suggest getting Visions Of the Beast first, then Live In Rio and maybe this a distant third or fourth pick. When are we gonna see the early Rainbow shows (stuff on the enhanced CDs) released to the masses???

Summary: GOOD BUT NOT GREAT
Review: I consider my self as a MAIDEN fan.Though im also a very fussy listener, sure the graphics are awsome but with out Arians style its LOST his playing realy complimeted DAVEs style but on this DVD you can realy feel the pinch in the lead breaks.Other than that well i feel the other members try hard to make up for ADRIANS departure......

Summary: Dissapointing
Review: I have been a fan since '86 (or late '85) and got my chance to see them in 2000 at MSG. Anyways, I was surprised to see what a low budget production this was. Maiden is know for over the top productions.Cool lighting, pyro, etc. I know this was a small place. They should have done Wembly, or Earls court. They could have just shown the last gig of the tour and sent off Bruce that way. Take my advice buy Live after Death cd or soon to be on Dvd?; or Maiden England. My ultimate dream(wich will never happen) Somewhere on Tour gig from Bristol! That on Dvd would be awesome!! So, buy at your own risk.Or wait till Rock N' Rio comes out.Up the Irons!!

Summary: Lost glory
Review: I have been a maiden fan for several years and I'm very sad to write this review. This concert was broadcasted by a cable channel in my hometown in Southamerica. I was very excited before the bradcasting day, then I ended up being dissapointed by the low quality of the performance.
I give two stars for Dave Murray and Steve Harris only. They both play masterfully and not for nothing they have been working together for so long. Bruce's vocals really dissapoint, don't expect him to sing like Live After death or Beast over Hammersmith. Nicko plays with a big and incredible drum set, but his playing is lacking a lot energy and technique that we were used to hear. Furthermore, he was never able to duplicate Clive Burr's fast drumming, no matter how much he tried (if he ever did). Janick Gers is by far, the worst Maiden guitarist ever, his playing is totally annoying, and ruined every guitar solo. I don't understand why he is still in the band. He would do better wearing the Eddie mask and doing the same tricks with a cardboard guitar. That would be the perfect job for him if he wants to continue in Maiden.
Other features complicate this concert, the magician and his cheap tricks have nothing of talent. My little nephew could do better than him. The sound production ends up killing this terrible gig, even when the song selection was good.
This concert was shown several times on cable, but I never ended up enjoying it. I really tried. That's why I did not bother to buy it. Hope this "Raising hell" really burns in hell.

Summary: Unique approach with Drake! VERY entertaining!
Review: I just don't get all the 1 or 2 star reviews here. You'd think these previous reviewers are assessing a 'bootleg' video or something. To give this quality DVD anything less than 4 stars is shortsighted. OK, granted: the 5.1 mix may not sound great, but it sounds good, and the 2.0 mix is just fine. The whole concept of weaving metal and macabre magic is ingenious and a propos, and in this DVD, it works phenomenally well! The actual concert shots are very professional, with great closeups and various shots of the band, and the performance is classic Maiden knock-your-socks-off tour-de-force all the way! This is a great production, and a MUST if you are a fan of quality teutonic metal!!

Summary: Great concert bad Production!
Review: I love this DVD, but unless your DVD player has the 3D sound option the sound [is awful]!The horror illusions go great with Iron Maidens concert. It reminds me of the king of Heavy Metal Theatrics Alice Cooper. This DVD is a must have for all Iron Maiden fans. Remeber it works best with the 3D sound option.-Hawk

Summary: You have to watch the entire DVD to "get it"
Review: I love this DVD. From some of the other reviews i've seen I can tell they don't get it. The sound on Bruce's vocals do suck in the begining but it does get better. As for the magician , you have to realize that this concert was billed as " The last concert with Bruce Dickinson". It well was known he was leaving the band. The Magic tricks are a build up to the finale. Just before the ending credits roll , you'll see why Eddie has the magician killed!!!!
