Summary: Cool videos
Review: I bought this DVD because I'm an anime fan, but I was surprised when I listened the songs, they are really cool. But I thing the music choosed for GITS is a bit slow for that video, Superthruster is more alike, but they are cool anyway, so don't hesitate and buy it.

Summary: Interesting videos, cool music
Review: I first encountered this music video as an extra on one of mp3.com's freebie MP3 CDs. Entranced, I went ahead and ordered the DVD just so I could have a higher quality version of the disc. The main video, Superthruster, isn't bad at all, with some very slick animation telling a story of an Aeon-flux-like operative stealing something (a "superthruster?") from some corporate facility, then being chased through ventilation tunnels by two security cops who bear a striking resemblance to Sly and Robbie themselves. I wish I knew who animated and directed this video, and what other work they had done.

The other video, Zen Concrete, is probably the first professionally-done anime music video I've ever seen. (No, wait, scratch that: the second, I was forgetting about Matthew Sweet's "Girlfriend".) Nothing really mysterious about it; Sly & Robbie's record label and Manga Video are owned by the same parent company; it's not surprising they could use this footage. I think the song Zen Concrete really does fit Ghost In The Shell quite well.

The third "video" isn't really much of one...it's a remix of the Superthruster song with a few pictures of someone's face and staticky images from the main video.

In the end, a decent enough little disc for the price.

Summary: Techno Reggae
Review: Masters of dub, Sly and Robbie bring us the future of reggae with this eclectic blend of techno, pop, and latin styles. The Japanese animation is fitting, but sometimes too repetitive. Overall, a unique musical experience.

Summary: An eccentric music video
Review: Those Sly and Robbie fans who prefer their new Drum and Bass style will find this DVD Single more enjoyable than those who prefer the Hail Up Taxi Jamaican Rap style. The first music video clip I've seen comprising totally of animation, its refreshing and bold. The animation itself is limited to the song's length, but achieves quite a lot. What is most interesting is the Zen Concrete track, the video of which comes from Ishii's "Ghost in the Shell." We have truly entered the "global age" when we find Anime next to Jamaican Drum & Bass music. This DVD is a testament to multiculturalism. Super thruster is a fast paced, strong beat track, while Zen Concrete is slow, melodic and very much chill. The main drawback of this DVD is its real lack of extras. In an age where bonus DVD disks are crammed with interviews and trailers, there is far too little on the disk. Never-the-less, this eccentric little DVD is a worthy addition to anyone's collection, its quirky mixture of styles, the strong rhythm and powerful beat a must for any enthusiast.
