Description:

Perfect for high-contrast television and progressive-scan DVD viewing, Philips' standard (4:3) aspect-ratio 20PF7835 is stylish enough and small enough to be used in any room of the house. The 20-inch TV offers high brightness (400 cd/m2) and high contrast (350:1), as well as an integrated NTSC TV tuner for cable or broadcast reception of all your favorite programs. Hook it up to an optional DTV receiver or progressive-scan DVD player and you'll enjoy vivid, detailed images from progressive-scanned 480p sources on the set's native 640 x 480 screen.

LCD technology allows screens to be thinner and televisions to be lighter and more energy efficient than ever before. The result is television that not only fits on a wall, but fits in places conventional televisions cannot. The 20PF7835 comes outfitted with Digital Crystal Clear III technology, a suite of picture innovations including Dynamic Contrast and advanced, 10-bit processing. Further, the DCDi chip by Faroudja enhances resolution by eliminating the stair-step jagged edges often seen on progressive-scan displays.

Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. The DCDi chip also offers 3:2 pulldown. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24-frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

AutoPicture lets you change--at the touch of a button--the picture settings (color, tint, contrast, etc.) for various types of programming, including sports, movies, multimedia (games), or weak signals. An audio volume leveler (AVL) keeps the TV sound at an even level for a more consistent, comfortable sound, and a five-band graphic equalizer lets you tailor the sound to your preference.

Inputs include a component-video (standard-definition), an S-video, and a composite-video connection, with a .125-inch stereo headphone jack for private listening (headphones not included).
