Description:

Sampo's PME50X6 50-inch HD-compatible 16:9 plasma display uses advanced digital image processing to make the most of what you watch. Its MotionDSC digital processor uses adaptive-motion deinterlacing and advanced digital progressive line scaling to generate smooth motion video with minimal video artifacts, improving the quality of your DVD content, for example. In addition, 3:2 pulldown reassembles the frame sequence of your original film-based content from DVDs to more accurately reproduce the original 24-frame-per-second material. The unit's 3D digital comb filter converts analog NTSC signals into a digital signal for more-accurate processing and superior NTSC video performance.

The PME50X6 boasts a native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, with a pixel pitch (distance between pixels) of 0.81 millimeters. It can display millions of colors (16.7 million) and 256 RGB levels, with its screen glowing at 500 candelas (cd/m2). The monitor's 160-degree viewing angle ensures that everyone will have a good seat.

The side-by-side picture function lets you watch two programs simultaneously by splitting the screen in half, while the picture-in-picture feature presents a second program in a small window that can be repositioned on the screen. When you're watching programs that don't take up the full width of the 16:9 screen, a digital zoom function can fill the screen and get rid of the black bars on either side.

The two built-in 3.5-watt speakers use BBE sound processing to maximize sound quality, as well as SRS sound processing to simulate surround sound using only the two speakers. You can enhance bass response by connecting a subwoofer, or add external speakers for greater sound performance.

An optional TV tuner board, which can be installed in the back of the display, allows you to connect your antenna or cable TV signal directly to the display without the need for a VCR or other external tuner. The tuner card provides the favorite channel programming, channel lock, MTS stereo, SAP (secondary audio program, for bilingual programming), closed captioning, quick view, air/cable selection, and V-Chip parental control.

The monitor is capable of accepting 1080i and 720p HDTV signals via an external HDTV decoder with RGB or component-video outputs, and can display both NTSC and PAL formats. In addition to two sets of component-video inputs and 1 RGB input, the PME50X6 offers a DVI port, two S-Video inputs, and composite-video inputs. For maximum flexibility, it also offers six sets of RCA left/right audio inputs as well as one set of RCA left/right outputs, a subwoofer output, and a 15-pin D-sub RGB output port. A table stand is included in the package, and a wall-mount kit is available separately.
