Summary: Good movie. Bad DVD
Review: I don't understand Warner's policy of releasing DVD. They chose this good movie to be released as part of their budget line ($15 list price). First of all the picture quality is not as good as the Laserdisc and it is not in wide screen. No special features at all. A waste of DVD capabilities. This movie deserve to be remastered. But if you can forgive the technical parts, the movie itself is very good. Harrison Ford stars as an American surgeon who lost his wife in a hotel in Paris.

Summary: Boring and Awful pacing make it only worth it for the score
Review: I got this from my grandma when she bought my DVD player for my 8th grade graduation. I expected a great movie but I was so wrong and found myself falling asleep and stopping it. I had to turn it off a number of times before i could finish the full viewing. All i can say that is good about this film is the acting and the great score. I like the type of noir sound that is in the score. with a little more action this would be excellent.

Summary: A JOURNEY THROUGH PARIS
Review: Polemic Polanski made a decent kind of thriller, with good action and good plot twists. Great climax, also.

Summary: A Great Satire .. Frantic is Clever and Entertaining
Review: I read the reviews and then saw the film Frantic. I am amazed that fellow reviewers talk of this film in such serious terms.

I think it is a great mystery satire. From the moment the Taxi driver has a flat tire on the way to Harrison Ford's hotel to the scene of garbage trucks at work during the film's final credits I was amused and entertained.

What gave away the satire mode in the film is when Emmanuelle Singer sticks out her tongue at the uptight American woman in the airport. Of course all the interplay between Harrison Ford, Ms. Singer, the French, American and Middle-Eastern characters was edgy and funny.

The dance scene in the night club when Ms. Singer wearing a bright red mini-skirt totally wraps herself into Mr. Ford on the disco dance floor as he tries to avoide her intimacies is good. The expressions of the other patrons looking on gives it a very human touch. Another choice moment occurs early on in a bar when Mr. Food buys cocaine. While the deal goes down in the men's room I felt Mr. Harrison's awkwardness and, yet, it is a funny moment

The story flows well enough though the real prize in Frantic is the dialogue, music and streets of Paris. I believe Roman Polanski set out to make a satire and if this is true, did he wonder about all the seriousness with which Frantic was reviewed.

Summary: Polanski's finest hour.
Review: As far as I am concerned, this is the best movie Polanski ever made. For once he has left sexual perversion alone and it is an improvement. The atmosphere is tense, even haunting at times, induced by excellent camerawork a great score and a truly talented cast. Harrison Ford shines in what I believe is his best role ever as the American in Paris who is trapped by a cultural and linguistic barrier, but through shere determination manages to find his disappeared wife.Often copied, but never surpassed, I think this movie still is one of the greatest thrillers of all time.

Summary: The Dark Side of Paris
Review: I really like this movie, and for many reasons. First, it features Harrison Ford, who is my favorite actor by far. Second, it's quite a thrilling thriller, filled with an atmosphere of mystery, enhanced by the soundtrack and by Ford's co-actress.

However, what I like most about the movie is the way it turns Paris' familiar landscapes, which are probably the most attractive urban landscapes in the world, into something frightening and menacing. It works so well because everybody is in love with Paris! This transformation is what the movie is all about - the struggle of a normal person whose normal environment unexpectedly collapses. The fact that Ford appears in all of the film's scenes contributes to us identifying with him, and again, magnifies the desperate situations Ford stumbles through.

An extremely well made and thought provoking thriller.

Summary: A brilliant Hitchcockien Thriller.
Review: Harrison Ford proves his versatility once again with this film. He plays a man who will stop at nothing to get his wife back. Roman Polanski uses his unlimited directing skills to create suspence and realism like no other. It is never unbelievable or over-the-top, and the pace fits the film well. It would have gotten 5 stars if it wasn't for the slight anti-climax. Emmanuelle seigner is a great find in her Film debut.

Summary: Ford saves it
Review: Frantic isn't the smartest film ever made. In fact, hadn't it had Ford it would be a complete waste. Polanski relates this in no way to his other classics, especially Chinatown, which it has a lot in common with (well, sort of). Anyway, it's worth a watch, but unless you are crazy for Ford, keep the dough in your pocket.

Summary: I Love Harrison Ford
Review: If you love Harrison then this is a must see movie. Even without it the movie would still be great but he just adds so much more. Watch this movie today!

Summary: Just a Frantic Fan
Review: I agree with the other reviewers about the quality of the dvd; It's very grainy to look at. Being that the film was shot in Paris, it would have been a treat to have seen it presented in wide-screen format.

The story and actors were intriguing and up to par. Ford gives a good performance ( I've never seen him that frustrated or "frantic" in any other movie he's been in). Also, I don't think I've ever seen Harrison Ford show that much emotion to the point of tears as he did in this movie. As for Emmanuelle "Sensual" Seigner, what can I say except OOH, LA -LA ( I wouldn't mind being the president of her fan club). The soundtrack is still on my c.d. wish list ( although it is out of print).

The transfer of this movie to dvd deserves 1 Star. The movie itself with plot, actors, soundtrack, deserves 5 stars.
