Summary: Good movie but...
Review: calling it "The best Thriller of the year" is a little bit exagerated ! It all takes some time but keep watching and you'll see it's a good movie. I have seen the "Good old 12 inch Laserdisc" version so I can't comment on the DVD's quality. That of the LD was SUPERB !

Summary: Wildly Entertaining!
Review: From beginning to end, "A Civil Action" starring John Travolta and Robert Duvall provided the basic elements of a great movie: a developed plot, suspense, and humor. This movie can be enjoyed by practically everyone, althought it helps to have some legal knowledge, but what common idiot doesn't? So, run to the store and grab this video off the shelf before they are gone!

Summary: I thought this was a courtroom movie
Review: This movie was just a bunch of people spouting faults about our justice system without getting anything done. There is no tension, no compassion, and no reason. This is one of teh worst movies I have ever seen.

Summary: ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES IV EVER SEEN !!!
Review: John Travolta gives an award winning performance in this movie. Its about everything thats wrong with our justice system. Its about a man who has everything but will risk it all for the sake of what he comes to think is right. Iv seen alot of John Travoltas' movies and this is by far one of my favorites. Its a great movie and I would recommend to anybody !!!

Summary: Great Portrayal of whats wrong with our justice system.
Review: If any lawyers want to know why we hate them, they should see this movie. Then again, the average lawyer probably thinks this is the way our country should be.

Summary: Poor video transfer to DVD format
Review: A Civil Action is a great movie, but the video transfer to DVD was less than satisfactory. The picture was noticeably unclear and uncrisp at times, especially during scenes where the camera was moving. Until all DVDs can deliver superior quality on a consistent basis, VHS will remain the preferred format.

Summary: Failed to generate any emotional energy...a disappointment
Review: Living in the Boston area, we were pretty excited to watch this movie about the real-life Woburn case. Both Travolta and the script left us detached and deflated. William Macy was the best thing about the movie. Certainly not a flick worth purchasing.

Summary: Pretty much what it's like
Review: As someone who's litigated class action laswuits, I must say that this movie hit reality on the head more often than not. It was scary. The movie is a great dramatic piece. As for the DVD quality, the picture is fantastic and the Dolby Digital 5.1 audio is especially good for a movie where nothing blows up. The sound fills the room with ambience and the dialog is crystal clear.
