Description:

Designed with a mind for affordability, a spirit of convenience, and an ear for quality sound, Samsung's HT-SK6 merges all the source components of a home theater into a single, easy-to-install package. The 500-watt system includes a five-disc progressive-scan DVD changer alongside a THX-certified Klipsch speaker system: four horn-loaded two-way satellites, a two-way center speaker, and a standalone subwoofer. Now you can enjoy classy home entertainment with minimal setup time right in your existing living space.

With 80 watts per channel times five for the left, right, center, and left/right surround channels, you'll enjoy true home-theater power that's bolstered by 100 watts output for the passive subwoofer. The DVD player handles playback for standard DVD-Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 CD--perfect for commercial and most homemade discs alike. You can even spin your Kodak Picture CDs and JPEG image discs, crafting (on your computer) custom slideshows to enjoy on your living-room television.

The THX-certified Klipsch speakers supplied with the system maximize audio performance from 5.1 computer sound cards and DVD movies alike. The two-way satellite speakers include exclusive Klipsch MicroTractix horn tweeters that cleanly and accurately handle high frequencies. A 3-inch fiber-composite cone driver delivers smooth mid-bass sounds, and the magnetically shielded center channel uses the same Klipsch MicroTractix horn tweeter and 3-inch fiber-composite cone woofer as each satellite speaker, ensuring an ideal blend and seamless sound across the system. The center channel comes with rubber nonslip stabilizing feet, spring-clip wire terminals, and a rear-post adjustment for angle optimization.

Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the HT-SK6's DVD player is ready to deliver the full potential of your DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Interlaced component-video outputs help minimize digital and line-scan artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television.

The HT-SK6's DVD player also performs 3:2 pulldown. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24-frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

And did we mention the system's surround processing prowess? You'll enjoy enveloping audio decoding for both Dolby Digital and DTS/DTS ES 5.1-channel surround formats, as well as Dolby Pro-logic II, which converts two-channel audio tracks from any source into five-channel surround sound.

The system offers additional connectivity in the form of one component-video and two composite-video AV inputs for your existing audio/video components, such as a VCR, cable box, or satellite receiver. Other features include an FM/AM tuner with 30 station presets, supplied FM and AM antennas, and a headphone jack for private listening.
