Description:

When space is tight and quality entertainment is a priority, you'll get the most home-theater bang for your room--and your budget--with an all-in-one entertainment center like Norcent's stylish DP1800. Hook your TV up to the DP1800's combination DVD player/integrated amplifier and five-satellite/powered-subwoofer speaker system and you're ready for powerful multichannel surround sound from movies and concert videos--not to mention playback of your homemade MP3 CD compilations.

The aluminum-paneled DVD player is compatible with DVD-Video, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3, and JPEG image CDs. DVD functions include resume and memory play (great when you're listening to CDs), A-B play (for looping a segment), parental locks, picture zoom, eight-grade fast or slow motion, and nine-picture "strobe" viewing. The player handles either NTSC or PAL video conversion, compatible with non-region-encoded DVDs from overseas. Two auxiliary audio inputs let you hook up a VCR, camcorder, satellite receiver, or other device. The system includes a full-function remote control.

The speaker package features five satellites (left, center, right, and left/right surrounds) with frequency responses of 200 to 20,000 kHz (+/- 3 dB), while the 8-ohm, 50-watt powered subwoofer covers the low frequencies from 20 to 200 Hz. The 4-ohm satellites are powered by 20 watts per channel (at 1 percent THD).

Composite-, component-, and S-video outputs bring compatibility with almost any television. The receiver decodes full Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround sound and sends each channel to the appropriate speaker. You can also connect the player's digital-audio output (one RCA coaxial) to a CD or minidisc recorder for easy music transfers (though be aware that DVD audio program cannot be recorded this way).
