Summary: One of the best movies ever!!!
Review: This is so funny you will laugh till you drop! This is really funny. One of Mike Myers' best movies. Better than Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me! You will love it.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Funnier all the time
Review: Omigoodness! I found this movie to be amusing the first time I watched it. My roommate loved it, and forced me to watch it again -- bless her! The second time I watched it, it was hysterically funny. The third time I watched it I got a full abdominal workout and rolled on the floor. What I'm trying to say here is that this film gets funnier the more you watch it. Watch it with an open mind the first time. Watch it again in a few months and you will roar uncontrollably and probably cry from laughing so hard.

Summary: Mike Myers provides great comedy
Review: "So I Married an Ax Murderer" is a wonderfully funny film that you will want to see several times. The script is well written and the dark theme is made very light and hilarious by the cast. The colorful characters are well developed by all of the actors giving Mike Myers the chance to show off his comedic genius. This is a film with so many memorable moments. You can't watch it without quoting it for several days to come. Mike Myers develops a couple of characters in which you can see the forming of his Austin Powers characters. There is a bit of comedy here for everyone mixed in with a little suspense. If you are in to great comedy and like great characters than this is a film for you.

Summary: This movie...sucks.
Review: Let's face it. No one is going to mistake this movie for one of the all-time greats. In fact, as a whole it is a rather weak flick. But that doesn't stop it from being one of my favorite guilty pleasures. The highlight of the movie is Mike Myers as an old wiley Scotsman who proclaims his distrust of the Colonel (yes, THAT one) while throwing verbal abuse upon his son with a rather large cranium (It's like an orange on a toothpick). This movie flopped in the theaters, but I do not know of one person in their mid-twenties who does not hail this movie as good dumb fun. Check it out. It may surprise you.

Summary: One of my favorites!
Review: This movie is a classic! I have seen it several times. The plot is clever and well thought through. Each detail sucks you in more and brings more laughs. Nancy Travis and Mike Myers are talented and hilarious!

Summary: Evolving Origins.
Review: Mike Myers stars in this film as a guy named Charlie who has a phobia about marriage and finds off-the-wall reasons for breaking up with his girlfriends (one was a mobster, another smelled like soup, another was a cleptomaniac, etc.). Then one day he visits a world meat shop and meets a beautiful butcher. The two begin to date and Charlie thinks he's found the one. Of course, there is the possibility she could be a mysterious axe-murderer known as Mrs. X. Nah. Well, maybe.

Nancy Travis is a delight to watch in this film as Myer's love interest. However, the real star of the show is Myers. Though his performance often distracts from the pace of the movie, he is stil a blast to watch. In watching this film one can see how all the various characters of the Austin Powers movies originated and evolved. A fun date movie.

Summary: HEEEED MOOVE NOOEEEWWW!!!!!
Review: FETCH ME THA PAEPEER IF YOUUUU CANNN....... It seems silly to rate this little movie as one of the greatest of all time...but I must. Mike Myers would do well to lose the Austin Powers movie rut he is in and go back to inventive charming little movies like this one. It has everything, beautiful leading actress, soccer matches, badly sung Rod Stewart songs, animal print bagpipe bags, haggis.....what a great film!

Summary: Sweet and fun, but not Myers' best
Review: Most people either love or hate this movie; I can't see how it can raise such strong emotions. I enjoy it, I laugh, but in the end it's not that memorable, with a few notable exceptions: (1) Myers' portrayal of the crusty Scottish father is great fun, and has the most quotable lines in the film. (2) The undercover cop who wants his captain to act more like a crusty commisioner (like police captains in the movies), and the captain's attempts to do so.

Sadly, Myers as the main character is not as good; while well-acted and funny, he's in virtually every scene and we tend to tire of him. Nancy Travis, the love interest, seemingly exists only to laugh at Myers' antics (but she holds her own much better than Heather Graham's atrocious work in Austin Powers 2). Thus, individually the jokes are funny, but they are too much of the same thing. Having said that, Myers is one of the few former SNL comics to make a film that is actually funny! While adapting some of his SNL characters, they are not one-joke copies (imagine if the father in this film only said, "If it's nae Scottish, it's ....!") Also, look for a "sneak preview" of Dr. Evil, whose voice (if not his body) makes an appearance.

The DVD is very disappointing - save your money and get the VHS tape. The video and sound are fine, but there are no extras (except the trailer). It's typical of a first-generation DVD, and a "special edition" has not yet appeared (perhaps waiting for a Mike Myers Box Set).

Summary: This is one of those movies...
Review: Strangely, the reason I am writing this review is in reaction to reading other reviews of this movie. I simply loved this movie. To me, Mike Meyers is a comic genius. It probably helps that I am partial to really bad, yet with unique style, Scottish mimicking. How can you tell me that you didn't find that TV commercial funny of the Scottish man yelling at the fish, "you! In the net! Not you, you're flabby!!". Some reviewers have commented on the movies failure to deliver or that it was lacking in something. I say that may be true but then also find me a movie that is absolutely perfect (I know there are a choice "few"). Every person has different movie tastes so I can see that some may not like this movie. After all, there are people out there who did not like "The English Patient" so I guess I must concede that there will be people who will not like this movie ( I know... there are no similarities to the english patient and this movie but can you believe that some people actually didn't like the english patient??). All in all I find this movie hard to beat, in the comedy genre, with its really unique and patented Mike Meyers humour... c'mon... Fat Bastard... Dr. Evil... Shrek... simply genius!!
I think that what makes this movie so endearing to me is the little puns and supporting characters with their .. erm.. peculiarities. I love the crusty old Scottish character (Mikes dad played by Mike himself, hmm... I see the beginnings of a successful trend here) who is completely paranoid and witters on about conspiracies - notably citing Colonel Sanders and an alleged addictive additive in his chicken with a 20 day craving/withdrawal cycle. Always a good sign of a gem of a movie are the cameos of popular actors and comedians. This movie has all of the who's who of its day. Phil Hartman... God rest his merry soul.
If you have seen other mike Meyers stuff and do not like it then you most likely will not appreciate this movie. You will also not like "The Princess Bride" or "History of the World Part I" or even "Red Dwarf" so you better not watch those either. Oh and while you're at it you should never read anything by Terry Pratchett because your sense of humour completely lacks a light hearted, tongue-in-cheek side and you probably are - and in all other ways - are a complete git. So all you non-gits... watch this movie!!!
