Summary: Great Fun
Review: This film is a real gem! The aliens are so cute and love the way talk. Martian Spy Girl is the best and some wickedly fun cameos from Tom Jones, Pam Grier, Martin Short and Glenn Close as a pseudo-Nancy Reagan clone.

Summary: Whacked out fun!
Review: My 12yr.year old daughter and I really enjoy Mars Attacks! Its really alot of fun and very funny!hilarious sight gags, the expressions of the martians, the way they say"Mep!Mep!Mep!" just cracks us ups + all the cool cameos throughout the movie are great! The movie is based on the old "Mars Attacks!" comic series which I had not been familiar with, but its right up my alley with its cool graphics, which were attacked themselves because of their violence in their time. Its a "must have" for our family collection.Give it a whirl!

Summary: Hollywood politics
Review: I had the cards when I was a kid (they left out the giant insects, one of the best parts of the card series) They used big movie stars to no avail, in fact they got in the way. I think Jack N. is one of the best, but he had that awful run-on scene where he is trying to convince the Martian leader, pathetic, was Tim Burton trying to squeeze water from a stone. In my opinion, Tim Burton's earlier work is great but this was an over indulgent miss. Power corrupts! I liked the movie, but it could have been so much better. Will movie history prove me wrong? No! Look at the overall score, 3 and 1/3 stars, that's about right.

Summary: They blew up congress!
Review: This movie is completely Burton. It's certainly his funniest film to date, and also his most, umm... entertaining, I guess. I don't know. Maybe not his most entertaining, but it's certainly entertaining. I love martain movies. The grandma in this movie is a riot, too. And who WOULDN'T love a movie where Tom Jones saves the day?! I think you know what to do (buy it)

Summary: Great Cameos and Great Film
Review: This is a great release from Tim Burton. The film is wall to wall with cameos and parodys of characters. Particular stand outs are Sarah Jessica Parker, Glenn Close and of course Jack Nicholson.
Compared to his other works, this film doesn't quite reach the emotional depths of Scissorhands or the intellectual wit of 'Nightmare' but still a great film!

Summary: ack! ack!
Review: Ensemble comedy is just plain difficult to pull off. This is particularly true when most of the characters are self-centered and vapid, lending little emotional support for the poor viewer to hang onto. Mars Attacks! proved too user unfriendly to garner much enthusiasm on its release.

But after further review, the ruling on the field is reversed. Tim Burton has put together a just about perfect homage to his beloved cheesey sci-fi roots. The film just requires lowering pre-concieved notions and more attention to detail. As H Ross said "The devil's in the details." and truely, the humor here is diabolical. (This begins with just trying to get the darn thing to play. It seems like the little martians are determined to torment right from the start, which is actually quite funny once you realize you're being messed with a little.)

While it may have been fathered 100 years ago by H G Wells, and certainly styled from latent boomerism, the film actually might seem more relevant now than when first released. (We've seen some of these characters in the news the past couple of years.) Some things happen to age very well.

So go ahead and throw this thing into the new home theatre, or slap it into the Powerbook with a pair of headphones, and try to figure out why it looks so much better now than when you first saw it. There's something to be said for late boomers.

Summary: Fun Stuff!
Review: Okay.. well maybe the plot isn't the most brilliant, but then again, what alien movie is? The movie has to do with the United States being invaded by crazy martians from Mars. With them comes lots of chaos, as well as lots of comedy. What really saved this movie is seeing the massive cast of movie stars get terrorized by the aliens.
All-in-all, as long as you don't except a real intelligent script, and like a good funny movie you'll love this fantastic Martian film.

Summary: ATTACK OF THE MINT BUBBLEGUMS
Review: MARS ATTACKS is the perfect example of the movie which has to be seen several times in order to appreciate all the details the director has hidden in it. Thanks the martian gods, we do have now the DVD standard ! It's really incredible how Tim Burton in each new movie is able to create a perfectly plausible world with such guys as Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice or hideous martians. I think that we can now admit he is one of the great american directors of the second half of the XXth century.

MARS ATTACKS is not a movie to be analyzed. It's simply a movie to enjoy. One doesn't have to be a sci-fi fan to like it and that's the sign of a great movie. For example, the scene of the martian disguised as a superb blonde is worthy to appear in an anthology of the best comic scenes of the history of motion pictures.

A DVD zone your library.

Summary: An excellent DVD
Review: The first time I saw Mars Attacks, I loved it.Now with the DVD released, I love it even more. The picture and audio quality is in perfect condition (actually even better than the movie version), and thankfully the DVD supports widescreen and fullscreen. The extras thrown in are pretty nice, too.I found the production notes really interesting.Tim Burton's definitely made this a spoof of past 50's alien movies, but this one pulls it off by making it funny yet fun to watch at the same time. The cast is amazing, with support by Jack Nicholson, Anette Bening, Natalie Portman, Tom Jones, Danny Devito, and a lot of other worthwhile people. If you haven't seen it yet, you really need to buy this DVD.One of Burton's best.
