Summary: IF YOU DON'T HAVE LOST IN SPACE - BUY IT!
Review: I loved lost in space as a kid, and brings back a lot of memories as an adult! Love the quality of video, so crisp & clear on DVD. Now I am waiting for season 2 to come out & I'm sure it will be well worth the wait if it's anything like season 1. Well worth every penny & buying it from Amazon is cheaper than buying it from Best Buy.

Thanks FOX!!!

Summary: A treat for the nostalgia buff
Review: I'm 44 years old and was 5 years old when this series ran on TV. I can still remember the horror and fascination of space in the mid-1960s, which at the time was completely new terrain. Giant blobs, tentacled creatures, plastic ray guns, laser beams - it didn't matter what tricks the producers employed, it was all NEW STUFF as far as I was concerned. Of course, if you compare the props, effects and plots with today's sci-fi, you'd probably burst out laughing and scoff at how primitive it was back then. Then again, you don't buy this DVD set for realism, or for cutting-edge special effects or even for the acting. Neither do you buy it because it pioneered the scores of space adventures that came later, like The Invaders, Flash Gordon or Star Trek. Instead, you buy it because you want to remember how it was when you were 5 years old and you sat in your parents' living room, hunched over a black-and-white TV set, scared out of your wits, yet thrilled to bits at the harrowing adventures of the Robinsons. You buy it because maybe even at that young age, you had a crush on Penny Robinson (Angela Cartwright) and you want to try and grasp that feeling again, which at the time was also NEW STUFF to you. So this is first and foremost a trip down memory lane and it won't appeal to anyone who never watched the show as a kid. For fellow reviewers who have expressed disappointment and have said they felt let down, I ask you - what the hell did you expect?

Summary: I HAVE A NEED TO BASH
Review: NO... Not this set,the a#$%^&es that have no clue what real entertainment is.I gave a couple of "FUNNY ASH SOLES"(you smart ones no the real words) a great printed beating for ragging on the Flintstones cartoon series Amazon won't display it.It contains too much truthful language. And I know us Lost in Space fans are fans becauce it's a great show. I've owned this set since a week after it's release.I simply love it.In fact Im going to go out and by Gilligan's Island 1st season set.The similarities are almost spooky 3 seasons 1st one in B&W, 7 people each 4 men three women.Niether group gets home. Well, actually the crew of the jupiter 2 does get home in various situations but never a way that allows them to stay. Don't get me wrong I'm not accusing L I S of being a rip-off I only mentioned fun coincidents.I have fond memories of when these shows ran back to back in syndication on a local NY station then known as WNEW 5.There are a lot more differences than similarities.I have no problems with the b&w presentation because that's the way it was and should be. But the color cover could mislead the potential new fan and anger them into a negative opinion. I HOPE SEASON 2 IS RELEASED IN JUNE AND SEASON 3 IN DECEMBER.OF 2004.

Summary: Best Quality DVD Collection
Review: I cannot say enough about this collection. I have a large collection of vintage DVD collections. This one is my favorite. They paid attention to the details on this one. Each DVD comes in it's own case which is nice. Packaging is very nice. These pay well and without any problems in all three of my DVD players.

Summary: WHAT DVD BOX SETS WERE INVENTED FOR!!!
Review: I don't know the last time I was this excited about a DVD release. I like to get box sets, and high points have always included getting stuff like X-FILES and SIMPSONS. But when I saw that LOST IN SPACE was coming out, I had a great rush of nostalgia. I was born in 1963, and the early days of the repeats of this show were ALWAYS on in my room! I loved this show. I'm sure it's a terrible show in many ways, but I still remember it with the "eyes" of a child, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

I wish there were more bonus features promised for this set, and I'm less than thrilled that the sound is mono (not even "virtual" 5.1??), but I'll get over it. I look forward to visiting my old friends Dr. Smith, Will, Robot, et al. This will also cleanse away memories of the dull movie!

I don't even own the set yet, and it's already among my all time favorites!!

Summary: "Lost In Space" is the BEST TV SHOW I've watched for years
Review: The Robinson family, Professor Robinson, Dr Smith, Alpha-Centauri, Will Robinson... Who does not remember these names - perhaps someone who did not live in the 60's decade. For those I say: you should know the "Lost In Space" adventure. Once you do that - you'll love the plot and the characters. The cast is superb, the photography is wonderful - the outer space, stars and planets, not to mention the amazing spaceship Jupiter 2. Jonathan Harris, as the Doctor Smith ("Never fear - Smith is here", "Oh, what a pain!") is superb in his performances and makes the show very very fun with his tricks and eccentricities. It's a pity that Jonathan Harris has passed away on November 05, 2002. I miss him. Since 1965 (when I was only 4 years old) I use to watch this amazing series. I am from Brazil and I am quite sure that many brazilians wait for this release also. In truth I believe that all the world waits for this release (the three seasons). Now for you, the Producers and the Fox Studios: It is worth to release all the three seasons in DVD. Please do it. Let the next generations know how was the television in the 60's decade. I was only 4 years old and I loved it!... Irwin Allen was a genious in all his creations, specially "Lost In Space".

Summary: A Dream Come True
Review: Many thanks to 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment for releasing this terrific DVD boxed set of the first season of LOST IN SPACE -- one of the best and most beloved television shows of all time.

This new DVD beautifully conveys the mystery, awe, and majesty of the show. Thank goodness Fox was not tempted to colorize and thereby destroy the beautiful and haunting black and white cinematography of legendary Hollywood cameraman Gene Polito. His artistic use of light and shadow rivals the finest Hollywood cinematography of the late 1920s and early 1930s.

The score by John Williams also deserves special mention, as it is, in my view, the best work that John Williams has ever done.

All in all, LOST IN SPACE is among the most artistic, captivating, creative, complex, and satisfying of television shows. It is high time that it was on DVD.

I look forward to the release of season 2 and season 3 on DVD!

Thanks, again, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment!!!

Summary: The First Season of Lost In Space: A Real Treat
Review: I recently got the Lost In Space First Season DVD set and I'm impressed. I watched this show when I was a kid and it still holds the same imagination and wonder it did all those years ago. This show has all the essential elements: adventure, excitement, and DANGER WILL ROBINSON DANGER! The struggles the Robinson Family go through to survive make this show a great blend of Robinson Caruso, and sci-fi. The adventure starts on October 16th 1997 and never stops! The evil Doctor Zachary Smith working for a foreign power attempts to sabotage the Jupiter Mission. The ship carrying the Robinson Family and their pilot Major Don West were bound for the planet Alpha Centauri. Their mission was to colonize that planet and pave the way for more missions to help relieve the population problem on the Earth. Dr. Smith's presence on the ship and his tampering of the B-9 Environmental Control Robot caused the Jupiter 2 to sustain heavy damage and be knocked off course. The Robinson's mission became one of survival in a strange alien world as well as battling Dr. Smith who's numerous attempts to destory the Robinsons complicate matters further. This show is visually awesome, especially for the 60's. This series predates Star Trek. As a matter of fact CBS rejected the Star Trek pilot because they had Lost In Space. The character interactions were a source of strength on this show. The dialogue between Smith, West, Will and the Robot are extremely entertaining. I especially like the dialogue between Will Robinson and John Robinson. That father and son interaction was one of the reasons this show did and continues to appeal to people of all ages. I totally recommend this show!
