Summary: A relaxing yoga practice with a strong emphasis on breath
Review: As the title of the video suggests, this is a soothing and relaxing yoga practice which instructor Sara Ivanhoe teaches in a calm and non-mystical manner. The practice begins in a seated position, and Sara takes time to explain yoga breathing and to allow for practice. This is followed by gentle seated stretches and twists, all the while focused on smooth, relaxing breathing. Next comes a slow-moving sun salutation series with simplified versions of most poses--eg, Eagle pose done with arms only, not legs. Sara includes lunges, balancing, and simple backbends but leaves out other classic standing poses such as Warrior and Triangle. Following the standing series, the practice returns to the floor for some seated forward bends, and finally, there is a relaxation series at the end.

Sara is an easy-going instructor who frequently encourages you to go only as far as comfortable and not to strain; she lead a class of students who show various levels of modifications. The video is set in a Crunch studio, and although there are candles, it is bright with other lighting; the music is soft and in the background. At just under 45 minutes, this is a perfect yoga practice for unwinding at the end of the day or any other time you need to relax.

Summary: A Great Way To Relax
Review: For about a month or so I was having trouble falling asleep. I decided that I needed to do something to relax my mind and body. I'd never done yoga before but thought that perhaps it could help me relax. After reading the reviews and description I decided to give Candlelight Yoga a try.

I must say I'm very impressed with this DVD. From the first time I tried it I was very relaxed. From that night on I've fallen asleep within 10 minutes of getting into bed, which is a nice change from lying there for an hour or more trying to relax by breathing, counting backwards from 100, taking melatonin/over the counter sleeping medication. My mind is a lot more calm and I've got a greater sense of well-being.

The workout itself is really nice. Sara Ivanhoe is a great instructor and her voice is very soothing. The poses aren't all that difficult and even though I'd never done yoga before or any other kind of exercise much I didn't have to the modifications.

The only issue I have with this DVD is there's this one girl in it who I find rather annoying. She comes off seeming a bit pretentious to me. However, I know the DVD so well that I can keep my eyes closed throughout the whole thing and just follow along to Sara's voice.

Also, the Morning Energizer routine is a great way to start the day and get some energy.

I would definitely recommend this DVD to anyone who wants to give yoga a try, relax, become more flexable, reduce stress and/or eliminate sleeping problems.

Summary: Candelight is delightful.
Review: I am aquiring my own library of yogo videos, after practicing for about a year. I attend classes, and supplement with videos. Candlelight Yoga is one that I keep coming back to! I love it before bed; there is some activity, but not too much to be able to sleep shortly after practicing. (I also have used it at other times of the day.) I love Sara Ivanhoe's more lighthearted, refreshing approach to yoga. I like a good workout, and do take my yoga practice seriously. But Sara is so pleasant, has a soothing, but still engaging, voice and way of delivery. Sbe makes it seem that this is fun, and by the way, does good things for yourself at the same time. I would recommend this to anyone. In response another reviewer, I am about to turn 50, am not particularly athletic, and have back problems to boot. This yoga session has only left me feeling relaxed, comfortable, and very happy that I took the time to practice with Sara and Co.

Summary: Z's Review
Review: I didn't know a thing about yoga before I bought this DVD. I'm extremely uncoordinated and not at all flexible. Sara Ivanhoe explains each movement and offers good advice for uncoordinated, inflexible, first timers like myself.

I highly recommend this DVD for anyone wanting a good relaxing yoga workout, even if you don't know a thing about yoga.

Summary: great after a long day
Review: I enjoyed this video. Very relaxing. I use fat burning yoga by Sara Ivanhoe when I want some power yoga but this really helps me to calm down and feel centered. The music is great!! I purchased the DVD which is 60 minutes and has a bonus yoga energizer workout. You can also choose your own music to play while listening to the instuctor. I highly recommend it for a relaxing not vigourous workout.

Summary: Quite a title, quite a video
Review: I had started doing yoga for about 3 weeks when I bought this video, thinking it might be a great start to my yoga dvd library. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started it, but by the middle of it, I felt incredibly relaxed and was very happy with my purchase! I thought that Sara did a great job explaining the asanas, and the modifications to be used if you're rather inflexible. I especially appreciated the reminders to just relax throughout the workout- great for someone like me who tends to try to do too much all at once- to include pushing my body to the limit. Other viewers might find this annoying, but I found it a welcome necessity for a video designed for destressing and relaxing! I would highly recommend this video! If you're reading this review, stop now and just buy it! You will be glad that you did!

Summary: Relaxing, not too long, not too short
Review: I have done Sara Ivanhoe's Crunch Yoga for several years and like it. I purchased this just to expand yoga routines and to have something to do before bedtime. I'm not disappointed. This is definitely not advanced yoga -- but either am I. Sara is encouraging, simple and direct in her explanations, and has a pleasant sounding voice. I like the emphasis on breath which other yoga videos often forget. My only complaint is that they surely could have found someone over 30 to participate in the video. An older person could easily do this route and could have served as an "inspiration" for those of us over 50. I will say that even though the video is cast with beautiful young faces (and bodies) their poses are not perfect -- several of them do the modified versions. For someone looking for a simple routine, this could serve as a great introduction or as a nice change from more advanced routines.

Summary: MUST HAVE!!
Review: I just finished this tape and it was wonderful! I feel stretched out and relaxed. Sara Ivanhoe has a wonderfully soothing voice and is just a pleasure to listen to. She makes sure to let you know that you don't need to be looking at the TV screen during poses and you can relax your neck (which is a problem I've had with other videos). I did this one with the lights out and an aromatherapy candle burning nearby. The time just flew by. I can't say enough good things about it! However a word of warning: this is not a workout; it is for flexibility and relaxation.

Summary: Great video, great instructor!!
Review: I LOVE this video. Sara Ivanhoe is a wonderful instructor and has a soothing voice. not annoying in the least little bit. This video is good for beginners because she explains the validity of breath, which is essential in yoga, as well as explains the moves so that there is no mistake. Once you pass the beginner level, this is still a great video to pop in on those days where you can't muster up the energy for a full workout. Great video, great instructor!!
