Summary: WWE No Mercy 2001!
Review: 2001 No Mercy
October 21, 2001
Savvis Center
St. Louis, Missouri

WCW Tag team Championship:
Hardy Boyz (Champions) V. Lance Storm & The Hurricane
Pretty good tag team match with some high-flying action. Hardys retain. ***

Kane V. Test
Pretty good Big Man match. Test wins. Someone rated this a four star match, I won't rate it that high, but it's close. ***1/2

Lingerie Match:
Stacy V. Torrie
Why put this on a Pay-Per-View? Oh yeah, to get more buyrates. Torrie wins and who cares. 1/2*

Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship:
Christian (Champion) V. Edge
This match was not that good at all. It was long and boring. There was really nothing that Edge & Christian did that they haven't done before in other Ladder Matches. Edge wins the title in probably the worst singles ladder match ever. **

WWF Tag Team Championship:
The Dudley Boyz (Champions) V. Big Show & Tajiri
Great match. This is not just a typical match. This was refreshing after watching the underwhelming ladder match. The Dudleyz retain. ***1/2

The Undertaker V. Booker T.
Pretty great match with Taker winning. ***3/4

WCW Championship:
The Rock (Champion) V. Chris Jericho
This match was a techinal masterpiece. Awesome. Alot better than what I thought it would be. Jericho wins the WCW Title. ****1/2

Triple Threat Match for the WWF Championship:
Stone Cold Steve Austin (Champion) V. Kurt Angle V. Rob Van Dam
Another awesome Championship match. Great Triple Threat Action with Austin retaining the WWF Title. ****1/2

Overall, a surprising awesome show. Both Tag Team Title matches were great, both World Title matches were awesome. The Rock, Jericho, Austin, Angle, & RVD gave it everything they had. The Kane/Test and Taker/Booker matches were surprising solid. The only two bad matches were the women's match and the very disappointing ladder match.

Summary: Are you actually on this page?
Review: Are you actually seeing this review? Well, my friend, first of all let me say that you are a very lucky person. With WWE sinking into oblivion these days despite its improving performance in the ring, I'm amazed you would get down and dirty with the year of 2001. It may have been one of WWF's best years ever. What attracted you to this PPV? The cover, maybe? A very unusual picture for a wrestling show, but it makes sense since this took place only a month after the 9/11 attacks.
You can hardly tell, and I highly recommend that you use a good z-shop and buy this DVD right now. The location is St. Louis Missouri--the date, 10/19/01.

WWF TAG TITLES: Hardy Boyz(c)w/Lita vs. Lance Storm w/Ivory and The Hurricane w/Mighty Molly.
This is a tag match that all PPVs should aspire to, and it started off the show very well. The action never disappointed or slowed down, and the women get involved, too.

Test vs. Kane
Yeah, you read that right. They put Test up against Kane. Let me assure you that this match was not exactly good, but it was as close as these two could hope to come. The false finishes really gave it some zap, and Kane abusing the shady referee after the match is footage that you'll want to see over and over again.

FIRST-EVER LINGERIE MATCH: Stacy Kiebler vs. Torrie Wilson
If by chance you are a woman (a slim chance, but possible) I apologize to you in advance, because this will be the only match you'll be inclined to skip. Two no-talent women bouncing around in their underwear. But men won't mind this kind of thing at all. So whether it's three minutes of heaven or three minutes of hell kind of depend on your opinion.

INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE/LADDER MATCH: Christian(c) vs. Edge
A great encounter between the two brothers (are they really brothers?). The spots with the ladder are not cruiserweight material, but they are very painful and take a major toll on both competitors. I give them major credit for withstanding the pain and ending the match well. Third best match of the night!

WCW TAG TITLES: Dudley Boyz(c) vs. Big Show and Tajiri
This one was all right. Not as good as the first match, but it was still competent. That is, until we were supposed to believe Rhyno could interfere and spear the Big Show right out of the ring.

Booker T vs. Undertaker
A little slow, but it was still good for the most part. Booker T is his usual talented, charismatic self; Undertaker redeems himself for last month's horrific tag match at Unforgiven. It's win-win.

WCW TITLE: Chris Jericho vs. The Rock(c)
The best match of the night. If you want to see Jericho's best title win, watch this thing, NOT Vengeance 2001. Jericho is one of the best wrestlers ever to step into a ring. His abilities are amazing and coupled with The Rock's stardom, this one is practically a classic--all action, all unpredictable, all the way through. Funny but good ending. I really liked it.

WWF TITLE/TRIPLE THREAT MATCH: Kurt Angle vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin(c)
Great buildup. Second best match in No Mercy 2001, but by a very small margin. It was thrilling and all three men took some serious bumps. The cover is misleading as to the ending of the match, with Vince and Shane McMahon attempting to interfere. Vince beats the hell out of Shane, which is always entertaining. But the psychotic Austin still has some fire left. A great 3-way match. Maybe the best of the year.

All in all, one of the best PPVs I've ever seen. Buy it. I am not joking.

Summary: This year's No Mercy delivered the goods
Review: As you can see by other reviews, this year's No Mercy was another solid and enjoyable PPV from the WWF. All the matches were exciting and enjoyable in my opinion, even the lingerie match was surprisingly OK.
There were 2 matches that definitely stood out, and they were, unsurprisingly, the WCW and WWF championship matches. In the WCW championship contest, Chris Jericho put out maybe the best match of his 2 year career in the WWF, as he tried to take the WCW title from The Rock. I thought this match is going to be good because all of the hype, and it was even better than I expected, with a memorable ending.
As for the WWF championship match... well there is really no need to explain why that was an awesome match. If you put Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kurt Angle and Rob Van Dam in the same ring you can't get anything but a spectacular match. This one did not disappoint, although it was rather short.
As for the rest of the card, like I mentioned before, it was solid and enjoyable through out. Undertaker and Booker T put out a good one, and Kane against Test was also very well fought. The opening tag match for the WCW tag titles was a fast and exciting opener. Overall, this year's No Mercy was even better than expected, and showed us 2 of the greatest matches of the year so far, so I definitely recommend it to any serious WWF fan.

Summary: WWF No Mercy 2001
Review: First of all, this is one of my favorite events in WWF history, every match was good, and alot where GREAT. This is a must own DVD for every WWF fan. A few bad things though, no extras and no paper inside, but the event makes up for it I assure you. So how where the matches, here's what I think:

------------------------------------------------------

*****- Excellent ****-Very Good ***- Good **- Average *-Poor DUD!-Pathetic

WCW Tag Team Titles: The Hardyz w/ Lita(c) vs. The Hurricane and Lance Storm w/ Ivory and Mighty Molly-***1/2- Great opener, lots of action, both tag teams are great and I wish Hurricane and Storm stayed as a team cause they're a funny but great team with lots of good moves. Really got the crowd going, and was a great match. That's all you need to know.

Kane vs. Test-****-I didn't expect much from this match, but it turned out great. These two put on a great match with hard hitting action and some nice spots in there too. I liked the match alot, you won't be dissapointed.

Lengerie Match: Torrie Wilson vs. Stacy Keibler-*****-5 star classic match, for men, this is the best match ever created, for women, you might want to skip this match, but damn was it good, wroth the price of the DVD alone!

Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship: Edge vs. Christian(c)-*****-This is the best singles ladder match ever, these 2 have great chemistry and they tourchered each other with the ladder. Alot of innovative and new stuff, with a great ending.

WWF Tag Team Titles: Dudley Boyz(c) vs. Big Show and Tajiri-***1/2-The second tag match of the night was just as good as the first, great match, Big Show and Tajiri make a great team and they put on a good match.

Undertaker vs. Booker T-****-Good match, I didn't expect much from this match either, but I was suprised, it was a good match. Undertaker's best match since him versus Triple H at WrestleMania 17.

WCW Championship:The Rock(c) vs. Chris Jericho-*****-These 2 put on a hell of a match, one of the greatest ever. These 2 used all the moves they had and put on a great show, they have amazing chemistry and if you haven't seen this classic match you better buy this DVD today. This is a must see match, one of the best, if not the best, match of 2001.

WWF Championship:Stone Cold Steve Austin(c) vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Kurt Angle-****1/2-I loved triple threat matches, and the last one was Jericho versus Benoit versus Stone Cold at King of the Ring 2001, and it was very dissapointing. This one did not dissapoint, a great match, on the short side, but still an amazing match. Rob Van Dam proved he should be in the main event by doing alot of high flying stuff, Austin put on a good performance, same for Angle. One of the best triple threat matches I've ever seen.
-------------------------------------------------------
This is one of the best, if not the best DVD of 2001, and maybe one of the best DVD ever. No extras and no sheet inside hurts it, but the event makes up for it, trust me, this is a MUST BUY. Every single match was good, and Torrie vs. Stacy, Edge vs. Christian, Jericho vs. Rock, and Stone Cold vs. RVD vs. Angle are all classic matches. The rest of the matches are very good, and this is a DVD you have to have in your WWF library, you have to have this DVD, get it today off of Amazon.com!

1.WCW Tag Team Championship: Hurricane and Lance Storm V.S Hardy Boyz(c) ***1/2- Great starter
2.Test V.S Kane ***1/2- a lot more than I expected
3. First-Ever Lingerie Match: Stacy V.S Torrie ****1/2- I loved this match like any other man out there- the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it's no Andre V.S Hogan
4. Ladder Match for the I.C Championship: Edge V.S Christian(c) ****- brother V.S brother was great- some great high spots and the one man conchairto on the top of the ladder was great
5. WWF Tag Team Championship: Big Show and Tajiri V.S The Dudley Boyz(c) ***- the only thing that made this great ws Tajiri, Big Show, and Rhyno's gore- dudley's performance was a bore
6. Taker V.S Booker T ****- Great match which ended the same as the one at W17- Booker T should have won
7.WCW Championship: Chris Jericho V.S The Rock(c) *****- show stealer- great performance and the Rock finally lost a match to a worthy apponent
8. Triple threat for the WWF Championship: RVD V.S Kurt Angle V.S Stone Cold(c) ****1/2- great match with plenty of high spots but not as entertaining as the Rock/Jericho

No Mercy was all and all a great PPV. I recommend buying when it comes out.
