Summary: Incredible Film Totally Blown Away
Review: A must see! I must say that L&B is one of the best love stories I have ever seen, and for that matter one of the best movies I have ever seen. The insight and parallel between being successful on the court and successful with your heart is clearly driven home by the director Gina Prince-Blythwood. The director's attention to detail I found very captivating. Thanks to the director for potraying the 60% Afrian Americans who are middle class or upper middle class for a change. Omar Epps gives his usual A-Game performance. Clearly sometimes one of the often overlooked talents in Hollywood. And quiet frankly (no offense to the caucasian audience) but if Sanaa Lathan had been white she would be up for an Oscar Nomination, the depth of her ability to potray a female basketball player never having picked up a basketball before the sundance film festival reading is simply astounding. Sanaa's acting ability that delivers the emotional heart tugging throughout the film can not be overstated. Sanaa and Omar's chemistry was a true bonus for the movie. Thanks to Spike Lee and 40Acres for recognizing a true gem of a script. I hope their are more drama's in the works for the African American audiences. If you haven't seen this movie yet don't even bother renting it, purchase the DVD or VHS it is well worth it for $20 or less.

Summary: Awesome romance with basketball backdrop!
Review: I first saw this on an airplane and blubbered like a baby at the end- such a wonderful warm, deep romantic bond that grows between this pair.
Monica and Quincy are the focus of the story. They literally grow up together and both play basketball.
They grow up, apart and then back together. The depth of feeling, the quality of the performances and the unique storyline make this one of my personal modern classics.

Leads Sanaa Latham and Omar Epps are backed up by Debbie Morgan and Alfre Woodard as their mothers. The cast is so strong- truly a flick worth seeing! Tyra Banks has a cameo as a hot stewardess for any fans of hers:)

Do not categorize this as a black movie- it is ROMANCE and so well done- will be enjoyed by anyone who is a fan of great flicks! The strong theme of women in sports makes this a great inspirational flick to share with young future WNBA players.

Summary: Absolutely one of my favorites.
Review: I've always wanted to see this movie and since I have it hasn't came out of my dvd player. I've watched it three times in two days and I love it. First of all, I love basketball, and second of all, the love story is amazing. The chemistry between the two characters is so real and the story is told so well. My favorite part is the end and it makes me cry everytime. It seems so real and really hits home. This is definately one of my favorite movies now and I can't wait til I go out and buy it. The soundtrack is also amazing. Omar Epps was incredible and so was the girl who played Monica, I'm not sure what her name is though but I'll definately be finding out. I wish I could give this movie more then 5 stars cause it is seriously that good.

Summary: Romantic, sexy and dramatic
Review: One of the most successful African American movies since Boyz n the hood, Omar epps is one of the best african american actors today, from his early roles in movies like "Juice" and "The wood" and his golden globe nominated role in "In too deep" with rap star LL Cool J, and tv roles in emmy award winning show "ER".
This movie will inspire you, romance, basketball, great cast and a hell of a movie, i loved it and i'm sure you will too, the power of romance will create a new atmosphere. 9.5/10.

Summary: this will both break your heart and make you fall in love
Review: Monica and Quincy are next-door neighbors who have known each other since they were kids. Both grow up to be star college basketball players and fall in and out of love with each other. The movie is divided into quarters and shows the characters' progression throughout issues with their families, friends, high school, college and, of course, love and basketball.

Sanaa Latham is a stand-out here, she is a great actress and a gorgeous woman in a real way (never more apparent than in the scene where she meets the character played by supermodel Tyra Banks). Because you see the main characters' home life from childhood, you see how complex they are as they make life decisions, both good and bad. The movie also keeps you guessing if they will end up with each other, even when it is clear that they are the only ones who can really understand and love each other. Rent this today!!!

Summary: Simply Spectacular
Review: When I first saw that Spike Lee was one of the Producers I was skeptical because I don't care for his work that much. However, this movie blew me away and is now one of my all time favorites! It is a must see for any die-hard romantic. It has something for everyone....sports, humor (Damn girl, I didn't know NIKE made dresses) to a spectacular love story that develops over several years and then withstands the test of time and many ups and downs. The last two scenes left me with goosebumps and has to be one of the most romantic endings ever to grace the silver screen. I also thought it was a nice touch that the movie was broken up into four quarters like a real game. I wish I could give it more than five stars.

Summary: Love and Basketball
Review: This movie is great! A true romantic film. I liked the beginning where Monica and Q (the characters) are kids...this sets the foundation of their relationship/friendship. I especially like the part when Q stays with Monica when his parents argue. You see the stubborness of Monica and appreciate the sweetness---in a manly way, of course--of Q. My favorite parts are at the high school dance (I won't ruin if for those of you who haven't seen it yet but...whoo!) and the basketball game at the end, enhanced by the Meshell Ndegeocello song. (...) This movie just makes you want to fall in love. I would recommend it again and again....I've seen the dvd about 6x--and I just got it last week!!!! (Enjoy, it is so worth it.)
