Summary: Hayabusa Is Amazing
Review: After only seeing two previus matches with Hayabusa(With Tanaka agaist Terry Funk and Mr. Pogo and with Shinsaki against Van Dam and Sabu) I figured I'd spend the money to learn more about him. I'm glad I did as the 3 matches on this DVD are all great, and the awful commentary I heard so much about on FMW DVD's seems to be a thing of the past. Plus the mini interview with Hayabusa and where he got his moves from was very good. Definatley worth the price for any wrestling fan.

Summary: Improvement & good introduction
Review: As Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer said, the sports-style announcing on these two new FMW tapes from Tokyopop, "The Flying Assassin" and "Yokohama Deathmatch" is 100% improved-- compared to the old style ICP-like announcing on the old FMW tapes (on the "old" FMW tapes, Tokyopop hired three Hollywood scriptwriters to write jokes & bad storylines that the announcers had to read off of).

There's always room for improvement, but John Watanabe and Dan Lovranski do a good job on "The Flying Assassin" and the other new tape, doing straight calling of the action, and getting over some of the history of the original FMW angles that newer fans may not be familiar with.

I also agree with a DVD review on the 1wrestling site on these new style FMW tapes, that if you're a new fan or American wrestling fan who is not familiar with FMW, these new Tokyopop tapes are a good introduction to the new fan (if you're an old fan who has already seen these matches via bad quality underground tapes, these matches will seem old). These days, every wrestling fan knows that there should be more alternatives out there besides just WWF wrestling, and with Hayabusa's spectacular moves and great matches on "Flying Assassin" (Hayabusa vs. Mike Awesome is my favorite on this tape), I think this FMW tape is a good alternative, as well as an FMW initiation for the newer fan.

Summary: FMW Finally Reaches Their Potential
Review: Finally, FMW has produced a DVD equal to the caliber of their talent. Gone is the unbearable commentary of earlier FMW DVDs. Finally, a well thought out DVD for the serious wrestling fan. The DVD follows the features of "The Phoenix: The Very Best of Hayabusa" video released in Japan. It covers the history behind Hayabusa's famous moves and his rivalry with former friend Gannosuke. Where this really makes its money, however, is in its three matches. Hayabusa vs Tanaka is great! The Mike Awesome/ Hayabusa match is my favorite of the three I've seen released on FMW video. The final match with Mr. Gannosuke is also very good. The one problem I have is that the DVD is under 2hours. I wished the put 2-3 extra matches in the compilation (that would have made it 5 stars easily).

Summary: BUY THIS DVD!!!!!!!!
Review: Hayabusa is without a doubt, the greatest wrestler on the planet. This DVD just showcases his unmatched talent. The DVD shows how bad American wrestling is(Not counting the ORIGINAL ECW).

Summary: The more things change, the more they still stink
Review: Nothing against the wrestling or video quality. Of course it's superb. It's the commentary that's still bad. Tokyo Pop actually listened and changed the way they present FMW. The annoying kayfabed unfunny stranglemania wannabee commentary is gone. But, the commentators are still know nothing no talent dopes. They do try to do it sports style and actually call the matches, as badly as they can. Since it's not live commentary, you'd think Tokyopop would go back and edit the mistakes out. Nope. It's like 2 guys who sitting at home pretending to be Jim Ross & Joey Styles at the same time. I love the fact that Hayabusa's moves are shown & named beforehand, but the dopes still get them wrong.
Plus, everything on here can be found on any Best Of Hayabusa Compilation tape in original Japanese and the most of the matches have no commentary at all. Sigh.

As with the past FMW DVDs, you'd think there would be extras.
Wrong. No Japanese audio track (which is the only reason I buy these DVDs), no extra matches, NOTHING different from the VHS. There should at least be an option to turn off the commentary, since it was just dropped on top of the original audio. I wish I'd known before buying. I've since sold it.

Summary: Hayabusa:The Flying Assassin
Review: This is a great introduction to Hayabusa of FMW fame. This makes ECW:The Best Of Cactus Jack look like any Triple-H profile video.

First up is a highlight reel of Hayabusa's signature moves including the Firebird Splash(450 splash),Pheonix Splash(backflip into a 450 splash),the Falcon Arrow(suplex into a Michinoku Driver), numerous dives to the outside,Fisherman Bomb(Fisherman DDT/the "Franchise's" Pitsberg Plunge)and the Shooting Star Press.
This features a tournament to see who will face the Evil Mr. Ganosuke for the FMW Undisputed Double Titles.
Next is a tournament match with Masato Tanaka vs. Hayabusa.
a five star match in it self. This alone is worth the price of the VHS/DVD. Hayabusa wins with the Falcon Arrow.

The next segment is Hayabusa's visit to a temple to keep his skills sharpend.

The next match is Hayabusa vs. Mike Awesome
Mike Awesome is one of the only guys that I have seen get a clean pinfall on Hayabusa. Hayabusa beats him after a Dragon/Fullnelson suplex. great match with some cool spots. Five stars.

Next we have the history of the Hayabusa vs. Mr. Ganosuke. It is as personal as a war gets. These two start out as friends training togather then Gannosuke turns his back on Hayabusa and FMW.

Main event time
FMW Double titles
Mr. Ganosuke vs. Hayabusa
I won't spoil it for any of you, but these guys pull out all the stops and use their entire arsensel on one-another. yet another great matchup to end the Tape/DVD of Hayabusa.

I highly recomend this for any fan of Japanese wrestling or a fan who wants to know the scoop on Hayabusa.

Summary: Excellent DVD
Review: This is the best Tokyopop FMW DVD release yet. The bad jokes and stupid stories that the announcing team told in the previous Tokyopop releases are gone, replaced by straight-forward and informative commentary. I salute Tokyopop for listening to the complaints of the fans in regards to the commentary and correcting this problem.

As for the DVD itself- you get 3 great Hayabusa matches, a long video introduction showing highlights of him performing his most popular moves, and interesting stories telling you the background of each match. The matches are in crystal-clear DVD quality, with great stereo sound too. I'd recommend this to any wrestling fan, whether you are a long-time Hayabusa fan or are just curious to see how great a wrestler he is.

Summary: Great introduction to Hayabusa and FMW
Review: This is the best way to get introduced to the FMW style of mtches. The most popular superstar on the FMW roster is Hayabusa. First off, we have a package of Hayabusa's arsenal of moves, most of wich are high flying. Then we have Hayabusa vs Tanaka. This is the first of three tournament matches leading up to the biggest FMW showdown and the most personal FMW fued: Hayabusa one-on-one with Mr. Gannosuke. This tape shows the history of Hayabusa's FMW stay but it mainly focuses on the Gannosuke/ Hayabusa feud.It also reveals where he got the idea for the costume and gimmick. For those who don't know who him, he is a masked Japanese version of Sabu. This tape is cool.
The second tounament match is Hayabusa vs. Mike "Gladiator" Awesome. It was a good match. Gladiator is one of the few guys that can get a clean pin-fall on Hayabusa.
But he is pinned by Hayabusa. All three matches will have you on the enge of your seat with anticipation.

Summary: Best tape of the series
Review: This tape really shows you the skill of Hayabusa. It is a great introduction to both FMW and the wrestler. American fans will recognize both Tanaka and Mike Awsome and will be able to observe the abilities of Hayabusa as he wrestles against these two former ECW champions. I have become a fan of This man
