Review: Best Capoeira DVD I've ever seen. Good music, unique techniques, phat roda.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Good DVD
Review: Energizing roda, good moves & very nice songs/music; how can I get the lyrics for it?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: NICE>>>!!!
Review: Excelent DVD overall. Exciting roda, decent techniques,
very energetic capoeira music, nice moves. Even though the camera work isn't so great, the capoeira in it makes up for everything.

Summary: Great DVD for beginners
Review: Excellent DVD especially for beginners. Camera will be shaky at times but the DVD overall is pretty hot.

Summary: A Capoeira class but nothing else.
Review: First of all I think what is shown is pretty good stuff, and it shows capoeira in a good way and gives a good feeling of how a Capoeira class is.

BUT, just taping a class isn't quiet enough in my eyes. The Camerawork is just realy bad half of the time you don't even see the whole action. The Camera itself musst have been pretty bad as as soon the action goes faster you just see a blurr.

Also the techniques shown are not commented in any way, nothing to give you maybe a deeper insight. At the end there are also a few 'self defence' moves (sadly mostly from Jui jitsu), they are pretty complex, but no words of what it's important to look to do it right or not injure the partner...

The History arn't realy big, the just give you a very very brief introduction of it.

So like I said, what's on it is quite good if you look over the camerawork, and the feeling of it all is realy quiet good, but well... it's just not enough...

Summary: Real Capoeira
Review: Good DVD for beginers and/or advanced capoeiristas in general.
Very nice and unique songs; Good take downs; energetic roda;
I have seen so many VHS/DVD such as Mestre Barrao, Mestre Parana,
Mestre Amem, Acordeon etc but this one seems to have a better and more effective style...a pretty decente & modern capoeira style. Parabens!

Summary: Excellent for beginners
Review: I am from Brazil(Rio de Janeiro, RJ), doing capoeira for about 8 years straight now. This DVD has very good regional style and is great for beginners. Enjoy it.....

Summary: Give me a break!
Review: I don't know which is worse: that I actually bought this low-quality, home-produced dvd, or that there are people marketing this and calling it Capoeira. While the decription of warm-ups and instruments are passable, the rodas and demonstrations are singular and violent. This is not the dvd you want if you are a real Capoeira enhusiast. It is basically a taped class; All the games shown are a very violent regional style, Angola is not even mentioned, and "fighting techniques" are wrestling and boxing techniques that have nothing to do with Capoeira. Their music isn't very good, either. I have studied Capoeira under credible instructors for a while, and I can tell you that if you want a dvd on Capoeira, a company that makes budget aerobics videos is not the way to go.

Summary: Not worth the money
Review: I guess if you never saw a capoeira class before, this would be OK to watch. The capoeira is uninspired and unexciting. And what's with the boxing and juijitsu stuff? The production value is nothing. Looks like someone trying to make a fast buck off capoeira name.

Summary: cool
Review: I liked this DVD a lot! Even though the camera work ins't so great, the capoeira style in it is pretty decent. It has some incredible moves, very good roda, nice music, etc....decent capoeira.
Comparing with all the others VHS out there this is the best so far, and there is no other capoeira DVD that I know of out there. One thing that I can't forget to mention is that the girls look good too.
