Summary: addition to previous review..
Review: after playing with this unit more, I discovered that it is possible to fast forward through songs on the CD's -- you have to use the controls on the unit itself -- the remote is not equipped to do this.

i still love this stereo!

Summary: A pioneer fan
Review: Being surprised to see this unit at amazon, I checked the Pioneer web page to see if I could find out more about it. It was 'retired' last year, but the sound (and value!) that you get from it are not out-dated. The 25-disk changer is obviously what seperates it from others, and this is an excellent feature. There are a variety of play modes (random, programmed, and a 'best of' feature) that can be played within one disk or within the 25 within the shelf system. I was concerned that there would be too many moving parts and that they would be likely to break, but the mechanism is very similar to the expensive home units.

The tape player operates very smoothly, and sounds great, as does the tuner. The remote control is easy to use and very intuitive. The main speakers produce full, rich sound, and the 2 rear speakers compliment them well. (I haven't mounted the rear speakers as they should be as the room the unit is in is not right for that...)

Another thing I liked about this unit is its sleek design. There is an option to turn off the flashing lights so that you have a more subdued display, which I like. There isnt a lot of shiny chromy stuff on the unit.

A couple of things I dont like about the unit (and I am not sure if these features exist on other units or not) -- you cannot fast forward through cd's -- pushing the >> key advances you to the next song. Also, there is not a music search on the cassette (so that you fast forward to the next song). Features that are not necessary, but are nice to have...

Overall, a superb price on an outstanding close-out sound system. I am very pleased with it.

Summary: Everything you could want
Review: I bought this stereo because of the price and the Pioneer name. I have been nothing but happy with it. The 25 disk changer is nearly impossible to find in compact models but very easy to get use to. My only complaint is that the clock is 24hrs, without an option to change to 12hrs. The speakers and sound options make this stereo great for movie sound, playing live recordings and background for parties. Big thumbs up!

Summary: Great Price
Review: I own a ton of cds and I really like to set this 25 disc changer stereo to random and let it play! The Random really works and you barely hear the same song twice. Also you can program it to play the tracks you want off of your 25 cds! Great for partys that are too spur of the moment to have a live dj. The speakers are just ok, you can probley get better ones added for a party.
My One complaint is, too bad you can't add cds while its playing cds. So have a cassete tape to play while your switching out cds as to not interrupt the flow of music at your party.
