Summary: Too bad it was edited down to nothing....
Review: As the four hour Children of the Dust on television, this was an exciting and poignant story. However, for the video and DVD release, it was edited down to just two hours. Too many of the important scenes were cut, and what was left made almost no sense. I want the complete movie on DVD!

Summary: A Good Day To Die... Review
Review: Great movie! I saw the TV mini-series entitled, "Children of the Dust." The quality of this movie, reminds me of the movies done by Hallmark Hall of Fame. A Hallmark example, would be "The Secret Garden." You might even call "A Good Day to Die" a period piece. Don't let the title fool you. A must have for any movie collection!

Summary: Thought about this movie since the age of 15...
Review: I first saw this movie back in 1995 when it aired on TV. I was then only 15 years old. I shrugged off hanging out with friends, doing homework, finishing my chores all for the sake of watching this... and wow, it sure was worth it. Now almost 10 years later, I found myself thinking about that movie, 'Children of the Dust'... and decided to get on the 'net and check it out. Well, I found it, though it was hard, since the name was changed. But wow! You can't imagine how happy I was to find it when I did! I'm thrilled to own the movie now, so that I can watch it when I please. Though, along with others, I too am dissapointed that they cut and edited this movie almost down to nothing. There was really no reason to do so. Too many vital scenes were cut... that's why I'm only giving this movie 4 stars instead of five.

Summary: They shouldn't have cut out so many scenes
Review: I have seen both this film and the mini series that was aired on TV named "Childern of the Dust". The mini series develops the characters a little more, which makes you understand the relation between Rachel and White Wolf a lot better. I sure hope that when this title will be available on DVD it will be the mini series and not this "cut" version. Which leads to the question.. Why is this title still not available on DVD ???

Summary: Good Day To Die
Review: I purchased the video based on the t.v. mini-series which originally was televised as "Children of the Dust". They aired the movie again under its new title, "Good Day To Die". An excellent movie. I was really disappointed to find that the movie had been edited, and I felt key scenes were cut. I don't understand why they (whoever "they" are) had to do that.

Summary: A Gripping love story
Review: I saw the miniseries "Children of the Dust" when it first aired years ago. I immediately fell in love with the character of White Wolf. The romance between Rachel and White Wolf should have had more screen time, yet the movie is still incredible, dealing with issues of racism, identity, and social expectations. Watch it and watch it again!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: great ending could have been better
Review: I think that at the endof this movie they should have made it to where that White Wolf and Rachael got married and had a child together.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: If only this were the Children of the Dust-4 hour version...
Review: I watched this mini series when it first aired and loved it! I've been hoping whoever decides to put this stuff on dvd would come to their senses and put the 4 hour mini-series on dvd, instead of this watered down version they are selling, A Good Day to Die. I have seen Children of the Dust dvds offered on ebay but they are like region 2 or 4 and won't play on US/Canada dvd players. It almost makes me want to invest in an all region dvd player!!!

Summary: America the Boiling Pot
Review: I've never seen "Children of the Dust," and purchased this video on the basis of the reviews here. The cast is strong. I follow a lifelong interest in race relations, in the roots and sources of bigotry, and in what it takes for a racially prejudiced person to gain the self-enlightenment to change his or her views. This film presents a story of 19C America that, among other things, investigates this question. The diverse characters are well drawn and the story is strong.
