Summary: Russell, Sharon, and Leonardo..Oh My!
Review: This was a pretty good Cowboy Movie, which Didn't waste any time getting to the point. The shoot outs came instantly. Whenever there was a Shoot Out in the movie, I found myself talking or shouting to the T.V. screen like the characters could really hear me. HA HA! I like this movie. It was a fun movie, that made me laugh a few times. Good to finally see a strong independant lead woman character, played by Sharon Stone. She did a good job in the movie, along with Leonardo as the confident, funny, young cowboy. Russell Crowe as Cort really got my attention. What a Man..to put up with all of that torture that the towns people put him through, in this movie..and he still held his head up high.... What a Man! I would love to hear from other Females from America and around the world, who are Russell Crowe Fans and enjoy most of his movies, especially Gladiator.

Summary: I thought Russell Crowe stole the show on this one
Review: Try renting or buying this movie if you saw it on TV and thought the story was confusing. It suffers from editing problems and those TV station breaks make the story seem even more uneven than it is. I have put it on my favorite Western list now that I have viewed it without interuptions. In my opinion, Russell Crowe totally stole the show and that is no small theft considering the high quality of his co-stars. I understand that a love scene featuring Mr. Crowe and Miss Stone's did not make the final cut. I bet a directors version with some additional footage featuring Mr. Crowe, especially the love scene, would jump off the shelves. Mr. Crowe is in a state of white hot stardom right now and people would be interested in seeing the deleted material.

Summary: Gene Hackman should be ashamed
Review: I rented this video (thankfully, I didn't buy it) because I am a huge fan of westerns, and also have always enjoyed Gene Hackman. What a miserable piece of dreck this is! Avoid it at all costs.

Summary: Great Entertainment
Review: I am not Sharon Stone's biggest fan and I did not expect to like this movie when I saw it, but now I find myself watching it every time it is on tv. Gene Hackman is great as the sadistic John Herod, he is even meaner than in Unforgiven. Russell Crowe gives a good performance as Cort, and Crowe is finally getting the attention that he deserves as a serious actor. Sharon Stone's role does not demand all that much of her and she does what is expected of her. Leonardo DiCaprio exudes the appropriate amount of cockiness as the young upstart gunslinger. There are some good minor roles in the film, including Lance Henriksen as Ace and Keith David as Cantrell, the man secretly hired by the oppressed townfolk to take out Herod. The most dramatic moment in the film comes when he faces Herod and the townspeople bend their heads in prayer for salvation only to be disappointed as Cantrell comes to a brutal end. Some of the other reviewers found the camera angles annoying and certain scenes unrealistic. Well, this movie doesn't strive for realism. It is part send off of spaghetti westerns and part live action adult cartoon. If you see the movie in this spirit, you cannot help but like it.

Summary: I'm sorry,
Review: but this was one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. I saw it on TV and was telling a friend about how horrible it was but I couldn't remember the name. I went here to look up all of Hackman's movies and found the title. After seeing all the good reviews, I had to respond.

I love parody as much as the next guy. This was just too stupid to be true.

Summary: THANK YOU SAM RAIMI FOR THIS MOVIE
Review: Great movie, the quick and the dead is to me a real homage to the clasics spaghetti westerns of Sergio Leone and Clint Eastwood,so if you like this movie you have to like a Fistful of Dollars,For a few dollars more and the good the bad and the ugly. Sharon Stone performance is very good,Gene Hackman what can i say about him? a real fine actor. Russell Crowe a new actor who was given in my opinion the best scenes in the movie. And to be honest i never imagine Di Caprio in a western but is performance fit very well. This movie is very good from a certain point of you.if you are looking for a drama ,intence story don t wacht this one ,but in the contrarie if you want action without limits you have te see it. So thank you Sam Riami to give us a new spaghetty western like the old ones.

Summary: Be Quick or Be Dead.....
Review: THE QUICK AND THE DEAD has to be one of the most heartwarming movie westerns of all time. It has SHARON STONE as a gun slinging woman back to test the taste of vengeance. Gene Hackman co-stars with Leonardo Dicaprio. This movie has some fine music scores and an excellent camera work out.

Summary: Good Guy movie
Review: it has a lot of fight scenes, you get to see Sharon Stone and it's set in the wild wild west. You can't ask for anything better. It does have leonardo in it, but he was good in Romeo and Juliet. Overall it's worth seeing

Summary: Why I bought this film
Review: I bought this movie for 1 reason: Russell Crowe. Not only can he act, he's my age & he's gorgeous. The film was better than I thought it would be. Stone should try a movie where she doesn't have to take her clothes off, Hackman did Hackman & I'm not a fan, then there's the twit from the nudity boat movie, yuck.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Definitely worth a rental
Review: I thought this movie was rather unfairly reviewed when it was released. It features excellent performances from a strong cast, Sam Raimi's quirky and often brilliant camera work, and a campy yet mythic storyline. Yes, the basic plot has less depth than many videogames, but this is true of most Westerns and Western-derivatives (e.g., the Star Wars series). It's no Dead Man, but I think it is a worthwhile and entertaining take on the genre.
