Summary: Disappointing
Review: After putting up with separate DVD player and VCR taking up space in the entertainment center, we decided to replace them with this combo model. In all honesty, I wish I had stuck with the old machines.

The VCR on the unit began having trouble playing tapes within just a few weeks of purchase. In well under 6 months, it was eating tapes outright. So after getting rid of my original machines because they took up too much space, I ended up with a really big DVD player (with a less-than-impressive picture.)

I've since replaced this unit with a different brand. The new machine is much more reliable and has a clearer picture.

Summary: Works great for the cost
Review: I bought mine on sale for I think 75 dollars when they were running around 150. Mine works great. Sometimes it takes a few seconds to open the DVD player, but it always opens for me. I've never had my VCR eat a tape either. The great thing is that it plays MP3 songs too!

Occasionally I will have a skip in a DVD or song, but I just take the disk out, put it back in, and everything is back to normal.

Summary: great price
Review: I bought this product for a family member and they love it. I bought the dvc 860d over a year ago and it has been nothing but good for me. I would recommend this product for anyone looking for a good deal and a reliable product.

Summary: Stay Away!
Review: I found a serious bug with this product and the foreign customer support from Funai was horrible. The problem is this: when changing the RF channel output, the dvd video will go to black. Once you make this channel change you can not revert back. The dvd will play audio but outputs black on the rf output and video outputs. Unplugging the unit for hours didn't allow it to go back to it's original state. I had the EXACT same problem happen with two units. Funai's broken English tech support said I must be doing something wrong! Bite me.
Never again!
The store I bought it from had six of them piled up behind the returns counter! Returned it and got my money back!

Summary: Watch out!
Review: I purchased a Toshiba VCR/DVD combo but the DVD door was stuck. Word of caution.... if you don't test your electronic purchase before the 30 day return period you're stuck with it. It happened to me and now I am stuck with a broken VCR/DVD and Amazon will not replace the item or refund my money. You're better off purchasing at a 'brick and mortar' store.

Summary: Mediocre Quality for a Good Price...
Review: I purchased this unit to replace a high-end VCR that quit working after 13 months (1 month out of warranty). As a matter of fact, we have gone through five VCRs in the past five years. I now regret getting rid of my 1980's vintage Sylvania VCR that was still working after 15 years. I have concluded that today's Chinese-manufactured VCRs are all of questionable quality. So my recommendation is to buy cheap, and when it breaks, throw it away.

The biggest disappointment with this unit is that it does not automatically set itself up when plugged in. You can have it setup the channels automatically once you figure out how to get to the appropriate menu selection, but it will not automatically adjust the time. My only other complaint thus far is that the clock is very difficult to see. It's small, dim, and located where the plastic distorts the time unless you are looking at it straight on.

Summary: All sylvania products are piece of junk.
Review: Look at other reviews for Sylvania products. I had to break open
the DVD player to return the rented DVD.

Summary: Sylvania DVD/VCR
Review: Oh my, this product is a disaster, don't even think of buying this, just over a month when i got it, it already ate one of my tapes, i had to clean the VHS head, then after a couple of months the remote control doesn't work, i changed the batteries twice to make sure, i even got new ones but nothing, to think that i've been using it only for 4 months, i got fed up & just returned it from where i bought it. I guess Sylvania is a good company it's just that they're not so good on DVD players, oh well..... :(

Summary: Can't beat the price!
Review: This unit was easy to set up and use and I get really good picture quality with it. I have had the unit for a couple months now and haven't experienced any problems. Definately a good buy.
