Rating: Summary: this is what is on each disk! Review: Disk 1: vol 4 : THE TROUBLED SPIRIT : SPACE BRAIN : THE INFERNAL MACHINE Disk 2: vol 4 : MISSION OF THE DARIANS : DRAGON'S DOMAIN : TESTAMENT OF ARKADI
Rating: Summary: The best DVD set of the first season Review: For someone who has never seen Space: 1999, I'd recommend this set because the episodes aren't too bad, in fact, they are kind of fun to watch, and the production quality seems to be somewhat better than the earlier episodes. The Troubled Spirit: This was a really dark and sinister episode, and was worth watching. Space Brain: I remember as a kid, an episode where soap suds filled up the base, and the people of Moonbase Alpha were wandering around though the soap suds in their spacesuits. Kind of silly, but fun to watch. The Infernal Machine: This was a worthwhile episode worth watching. Although the inside of the spaceship that Koenig, Dr. Russell and Professor Bergman are taken aboard looks like a 1970's art museum. Mission Of The Darians: Another dark and sinister episode. The people who weren't the Joan Collins type looked like they were from a house of freaks, scary and really bizarre. Joan Collins guest stars in this episode. Dragon's Domain: A good episode that I hadn't seen until seeing this DVD set. This story is somewhat similar to the 1979 movie, Alien. Testament Of Arkadia: This last episode of the first season probably was the most cerebral episode of Space: 1999 made for either season. The discovery of Sanskrit writings in a cave lead the people of Moonbase Alpha to believe that this planet that they are visting may contain the origins of their own civilization.
Rating: Summary: Coool cheese!! Review: I am very glad to see this series available on dvd.. while the video xfer is very good, but not as good as sets 1 and 2 though, i am kinda dissapointed at the mono sound track. a&e needs to take a look at the work done to the original star trek series remastered in 5.1dd and the original show was in mono so if they can do it for that series why did you fall down on the audio portion of this series? still just glad to have them... The cheesey effects are worth it alone and being able to clearly see the strings on the eagles as well. all the cheesey efx goes to point out one thing though we all ignored them because when this series and others like it came out the actors and actresses were actually required to know how to act and unlike todays series that if the special fx fail as does the show all of these 60's and 70's shows were quite entertaining! i love the corney lighted octo-monster as i did the human carrot from lost in space and i look forward to season 2 with the morphing babe!!

Rating: Summary: Best episode from the 1st Season! Review: I can hardly wait--they are releasing the documentary that most of us never saw, plus the best episode from season one, DRAGON'S DOMAIN. I had nightmares about that episode for months after seeing it as a kid. It was exceptionally well done. I hope very, very much they release the second season, as that was my favorite! To anyone hesitant about the dvd collections, let me point out they offer better quality, more episodes and extras, and are safer over the long term than mere video tape. We've waited this long--we deserve the best. I even bought a dvd player just to watch these collections.
Rating: Summary: Where's the Documentary? Review: I have been extremely pleased with the quality of the video and audio elements of each volume of Space:1999. I own all 4 sets and look forward to acquiring the second season of this childhood favorite.I was slightly irritated, however, due to the misleading advertisement regarding a "Behind-the-scenes" documentary supposedly included in Set 4. I scoured Sets 3 and 4 and found nothing, not even an easter egg.As a collector, this is mildly annoying, but the excellent sound, vibrant colors and sharp image override any minor concerns for extra material.
Rating: Summary: NO 'MAKING OF' DOCUMENTARY Review: I just received both sets 3 & 4 early from Deepdiscountdvd. There is NO 'Making Of' documentary anywhere, however, I am still grateful to have my favorite show released on dvd.
