Summary: It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas
Review: All 4 of these season series are great! Looking at this package though should be asked the question "Why does it exsist?"
Convienience?: Most of the people I know of that were devoted MASH fans (exclude some of movie fans that hated the TV series) already have these 4 plus the 5th one now.
More Bonus Features?: There are none. These are exactly the same as the individually packaged series. (Maybe Fox is waiting for the entire cast to die off before we get this feature - then it will be too late. So far, Stevenson & Linville are gone. I'm not sure about anyone else. Some bloopers reels would be nice too. You can't tell me that after 11 years, they never made mistakes in that time.) Why is Fox holding back?
Better Sound?: Nope. It's still 2 speaker mono.
Audio Commentaries?: None (dream on). Like I said, these discs are identical.
Price?: Less than a 10 spot. If you go to the right stores (or to Amazon.com for that matter), you can get all 4 of these for around the same price.

Availability?: All 5 episodes can be purchased separately.
Christmas?: BINGO. WE HAVE A WINNER. Fox is obviously attempting to cash in on their old stock of DVD's of this series.
Final Analysis?: If you love the first 4 seasons, and have not purchased any of them yet, this is the way to get all 4 quickly. Otherwise, continue to purchase each season separately. To be fair with Fox, the plus side of all these sets (and the new one) is that you can see the show WITHOUT the laugh track (the artificial laughing gets on ones nerves after a while), and has a great facts leaflet that comes in each season (and they also let you know when the next season will be out).

Summary: Excellent
Review: I never order series DVD's, I am a single only man. I ordered this because it saved me money ie 3 for the price of 4 and I think that it was worth every dollar. I have read some of the reviews and yes it is pretty average casing etc etc but then I wasn't expecting much so I was happy. I look forward to the next lot.

For all those complaining about the lack of special features etc... They have to make a disc 12 for the 3rd 4disc set so lets hope it is in there.

Summary: Hawkeye is a jerk.
Review: I've been watching MASH, the TV show and the movie, since I was a kid. I've always appreciated everything that it has to offer and stands for, but I could never understand or sympathize with Hawkeye. Why does he have to be so mean? He insults, abuses and humiliates Frank Burns every chance he gets, most of the time with no provocation. As far as I'm concerned, Frank is hard to get along with because Hawkeye made him that way. Hawkeye and Trapper (or BJ) are basically the schoolyard bullies and Frank Burns is their prey. They are cruel to him because they can be, because he's an easy target and can't fight back. I could never understand why the show expected the viewers to go along with this and root for the bullies. Personally, Hawkeye, to me, is mean spirited, vituperative, vindictive, spiteful and cruel. Of course he always wins, he's always right and he always gets
the girl. He's supposed to be the epitome of the 70's sensitive male, but he's really just another macho jerk in disguise.

Summary: Love mash
Review: Mash is great but why is it a 1-4 Collectors Editions its nothing spealial its the same as just bye one then two and three and so on its a great show but its just silly to make a collectors editions when there is no diffrence. BUT STILL MASH ROCKS!

Summary: Hawkeye vs Frank continued
Review: Officers in the military who act like Frank Burns and who lead front line troops get those troops killed. Actually, the reality is that in the Viet Nam "conflict" a jerk like Frank would simply have been fragged while in the can. I'm sure the powers that be, behind the show MASH and many of the viewers would have found that to be less funny.
The series is one of the most funny and poignant shows ever to run on TV. It took a serious life and death situation and helped to show the absurdity of war and those who always seem to die needlessly handle a bad situation with humor.

Summary: M*A*S*H*'s Origin...It Was A Situation Comedy!
Review: Reruns of mash appear on the screen regularly and I found myself watching them over and over again.
There's always something new to be found in every episode.
I want to watch them when I please, so I bought the DVD's.
If you like MASH, buy these. There's really nothing more to say about them. I don't care for fancy casing and extra's etc. etc.
I just want to see the episodes, that's all.

Summary: One of the best shows television has ever produced
Review: So far I have seen the available 7 seasons many times over. The laughter keeps on coming.

My all time favorite show and looking forward for season 8 (24 May 2005). The 'play all' feature on the later season dvd's made a good addition to our lazy lives. Disabling the laugh track is one of the best features on all MASH seasons. Knowing it was recorded in the 70's, its picture quality on DVD is great.

The characters made a change in season 4 with the introduction of B.J and Sherman Potter. They fit right in after a couple of episodes.

As others have noted, the casing could have been better. The nice cover pictures and the additional booklet with episode guides which include a card noting of when another season is scheduled for release makes up for the flimsy cover. In my opinion the amount is well worth the content and some more.

They do have a set of seasons 1-7 (ASIN: B0006SH252) - though the saving are greater if you buy this set and the individual seasons 5, 6 and 7. The sets don't have anything special, its rather the same single releases for a savings of getting them all at once. I hope they bring back some extras (bloopers etc.) on upcoming releases.

A great buy for all the MASH fans and the rest who just like a good chuckle.

My all time favorite show and looking forward for season 6. The play all feature on the later season dvd made a good addition to our lazy lives. Knowing it was recorded in the 70's, its picture quality on DVD is great.

They should make this a set of 1-5 seasons. This set doesn't have anything special, its rather the same single releases for a savings of getting them all at once. I hope they bring back some extras (bloopers etc.) on upcoming releases.
