Summary: NOT worth buying
Review: As a consumer you don't need to read a review for you to know that this set is not worth buying. I have not bought it and will not. The original music for the show was replaced with generic crap. If you watch The Real World, you know that the music creates moods and adds so much to the show. This show relies on it's music to maintain that feel of drama.

Summary: Watching not the same as 1992 / Best cast
Review: I can remeber the first time it's debut in May of 1992. I was a sophomore in high school. I was hooked from then on this was so new and experimental to TV for the quote on quote Gen X generation. I watched it all the way through addicted to these 7 strangers. This DVD collection has all the shows but be aware what made the show episodes so good is the music they put in at certain moments it told a story. That is not in this collection they put some instrumental music over it. So you won't hear Fianlly by CeCe at the Roxy with Norman, Heather, & Becky roller skating or wiggle it when Eric is dancing at Julie's dance class. Overall watching this is great to see the episodes again over ten years later but it's not the same as watching back in 92 the feeling of something new & wild. This season was truly the best most interesting castmembers with great story lines. The show isn't the same now unfortunetly going into it's 15 season. So it's worth adding to collection for nostalgic reasons you go back an visit Norm, Heather, Kevin, Julie, Eric & Andre at a fun time.

Summary: What the hell happened to these people?
Review: I like the Real World, & I watch & have pretty much all of the episodes from the current & last season of The Real World, but when I hear 1992, back then I wasnt old enough to even understand this show fully, Im thinking what happened to these people, Im a teenager & I always get in on the new stuff, This seasn is almost like every other one, exept, NO clue what happened to these people, they could ne dead, who knows, as for the people in the newer ones, MTV shows like Battle of the Sexes pretty much tell what happened to these people, but I want to know what happened with these ones!!

Summary: real show... fake music
Review: I love the Real World series. I started watching at the Chicago series, then watched the other seasons and loved them all... the earlier ones are the better ones. Since I loved the New york season (it was the most real and they didn't act), I bought the dvd. Before even the first 10 minutes, I turned it off. I noticed something strange... there was different music! All of the original musci from the show was changed to newer, but worse music. I loved the original 1990's music! ...

Summary: Where is the music?
Review: I love watching the New York season but it blows they didn't keep the original music. The music made the season, and the new score stinks!

Summary: I WANT MY MUSIC
Review: I want my 90's music and thats about it

A great cast a great show and this is if not the best year one of the best.

The new shows are all contrived garbage compared to this.

Summary: NO MUSIC???
Review: I was about to purchase this DVD until I was informed that the original background music was taken out and replaced with something entirely different. Why?!? The first season DVD should have the original early 90's music, in which I love. So because it doesn't, I'm not buying the DVD. I'll consider buying this DVD set when the aforementioned mistake is corrected.

Summary: I have yet to view this DVD, but..
Review: I'm glad that Mary-ELlis and Jon have decided to place seasons 1 and 12 of the Real World on DVD, but what about some of my favorites, like Boston, Miami, Seattle, and Chicago? I would love to relieve Genesis's self-discovery and just plain old b**chy Flora.... I hope that they do release all the seasons.

Summary: The Most 'Real" Real World Now On DVD
Review: In 1992, MTV's The Real World: New York premiered. We didn't know what was going on, and neither did the young people it documented. It was raw, unrehearsed, and really the only season that didn't include casts that acted strictly for the camera. This series pretty much started the reality TV craze (if you don't count American Family on PBS), broke down taboos and made people think and question their own beliefs. Although its the shortest season (it was experimental), its packed with enough drama for the normal 22 episode season. You can see Julie adjusting to big city life, Becky getting it on with a producer, Eric primping, pouting, and eating pasta, Heather rapping, Kevin accusing everyone of being racist, Norm freaking out over the fact that Star Trek was not recorded, and Andre becoming the first of many cast members that made you wonder why they were even there. This collection is a must have if you want to see the show when it was actually good. However, the fact that they replaced the background music is totally ridiculous.
