Summary: There should be more!!
Review: I am a devoted fan of Ally Mcbeal and watched all the episodes on tv. Still, I would like to see the entire seasons released in full. I've heard they're available in Europe and I see the complete first season of 'Friends' is soon to be released. So why not Ally Mcbeal? This Ally Mcbeal boxed set is great but there should be more. I want the entire seasons on vhs. I'm sure my fellow Ally Mcbeal fans feel the same way.

Summary: Ha Ha!
Review: Have to say, I realy feel sorry for all the americans in region 1. Not only are they insulted by Fox with this dismal 6 episode double disc offering, but they have to deal with the knowledge that we europeans in region 2 have had all five seasons of ally released with extras and at reasonably good prices (£15 or US$19 approx. per half season box).

This show is undoubtably one of the best sitcoms to have been released in recent times. It is altogether fresh, neurotic, original, funny and well-written, and both David E. Kelley and Calista should be really proud with their achievements on this show. Although the quality was brought into question in the last season, I believe that it is these early season episodes that display the most genius and originality.

If anyone over there across the pond has multi-region capabilities on their DVD players, I urge them to order the English box sets of the show through Amazon.co.uk (or similar), and sit back and enjoy what is truly one of the most vivacious pieces of TV programming in recent years. It is a shame that the show was cancelled, its true fans will really miss it.

Summary: PLEASE PUT THE COMPLETE SEASONS OUT ON DVD!
Review: $35 for six episodes?! You've got to be kidding me! "Ally McBeal" is one of my favorite shows of all time, and for some reason Fox still hasn't released each complete season on DVD. They're available in Europe, but not in the USA! I don't understand it. I also don't understand why so many stupid things are being released on DVD these days, and there are no plans to release "Ally McBeal." It's disgraceful.

Summary: One of the best romantic comedies on TV
Review: So 'Ally McBeal' has finished for good now, although this compilation of episodes reminds us of what was great about it. Centering around perpetually single, slender and kooky Ally (Flockhart) the audience is brought in on her hallucinations (brilliantly realised via some impressive computer animation), her loves, her losses and her job at a law firm that seems to embrace the weird. What made this show great was that it was so different, with David E. Kelley's sharp writing bringing in a mixture of well-placed observations on modern relationships and absolutely hilarious characters. Who could forget John Cage (McNicol), the diminuative lawyer with a pet frog and a Barry White infatuation? Add to this Richard Fish, who seems to wallow in his own male chauvanism, 'Subzero' Nelle (diRossi) and the deliciously nasty Ling (Liu) and you have a hot cast that's pretty much enjoyable whatever they're doing.

Although recent episodes have been slammed for not being funny enough this might seem unfair, although there's always a tendancy to be nostalgic about the older episodes that are on offer here. It balances funny, romantic and sad remarkably well and these earlier episodes were genuinely revolutionary, paving the way for other more experimental shows. Still, it would be nice to see the seasons in their entirity, as they are available in the UK.

Summary: Awesome wonderful witty and funny
Review: I have never watch the first season of Ally McBeal before - since I have only stayed in States for only four years. (Yes I am a foreign student). This is a great DVD collection, and I have to admit that the cast are awesome! Calista Flockhart is an accomplished actress - her expressions in the movie is amazing. I enjoy the humor of the show - in matter a fact this is the first show where I see the character wild imagination being acted out. Like the pilot episode, it was funny to see how exaggerated things were (ie, ...how she visualized elaine head growing bigger as elaine rants on what she had done. Or how she would love to "have coffee" with Billy in a coffeecup. It was hilarious and ingenious! Good plot! Wonderful witty and extremely funny! I like it a lot. I highly recommend this collection - although I felt that Fox was being unfair for NOT releasing the entire season in the DVD collection. C'mon Fox, if you can release the entire season of X-Files, why can't you guys do the same with Ally McBeal. It is just not fair. Sometimes I got confused between the movie as they would say something that was in the previous episode but was never included in the collection. I would have give it 5 stars - but being just six episodes - it deserves 4 stars. But do get it. As for Calista Flockhart - to me, she looks like an innocent girl in the movie but she is not really innocent as she looks - she can be indignant, she can rant on and on and on and say the wittiest thing ever, and she have this spur of outburst and anger that will keep you laughing and asking for more. Good acting Flockhart! And the music of this movie - mostly sung by Vonda Shepard are extremely good and well done! (a remake of a lot of classics, like "I could have dance all night" *from My Fair Lady* in Vonda Shepard personal renderation! Habsolutely spiffy!!

Summary: What an insult!!
Review: While I might be inclined to believe that the seris was a cult fav, it still was extremely popular. This DVD release is an insult to all the faithful followers and just a tease to those who are unfamiliar with the ironic yet hilarious humor. There is a bit of Ally in all of us. Does Fox even know how frustrating it is to know that Ally is available in just about every country but the U.S.? I had to buy season one off a jerk on ebay and it was burnt and it sucked! I did get season four from a fabulous person in another country. Expensive song rights or not, give your loyal fans what they deserve and make it good with deleted scenes and lots of special features!!!!
