Rating: Summary: Nice remote, problematic ear phones Review: I like the remote - it is well designed and easy to use. It features a pause/play button, track skip (forward and backward), volume, and a hold button so you don't hit the buttons by accident. Especially handy when the iPod is in its case. The earphones sound pretty good, however, it's hard to keep them from falling out of your ear which is a shame. Also, the white color of everything is good and bad - on one hand, it's fun because you advertise that you're using an iPod to everyone. On the other hand, it's bad for the same reason because they're so distinctive, some one may steal your iPod!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic features and sound, but some problems Review: The remote control for iPod is inspired. I love it, and use it all the time. It's fragile, though, and I've been through two of them, working on my third, in less than two years. I had the remote in my purse, dropped my purse, and a nail polish bottle falling on the remote caused the back cover to break off. Not good. The earphones have great, great sound, tremendous range, but... They are much too big for my ear canals. Wearing them for longer than fifteen minutes is painful. I'm investing in Sony earbuds for this reason. They tend to fit smaller ear canals better, and the EX-71SLB Fontopias definitely fit better, with their three sizes of bud covers. Can't go wrong there.
Rating: Summary: Excellent device! Review: I use my IPod mini mostly at the gym. The remote is a handy little device that clips into either the mini, or full-sized IPod. The earphones produce great sound, but like so many "in-ear" devices fall out easily. Apple really needs to produce and include an "over the ear" type of headset. The remote control has a clip so it can be attached to clothing. It is fully functional, including volume and hold switches. Buy some decent Sony headphones, and you've got quite a good combo.

Rating: Summary: Price is set at real value Review: Although these may not be the best earphones, they are exceptional, especially for the price. Just about the best earphones you can get cost about $500, but if you want exceptional, but not the best, these earphones are for you. The remote, along with your ipod comes in handy if you have your ipod in your pocket, or if you have it in a case. The little remote if fun to have, because it makes it so easy to adjust the volume, and it creates joy in the user. I think that this is a good pair for $40, especially the earphones. Unless you are willin to spend $120 or more, these are the best earphones for their price.
Rating: Summary: Great, but cord is way too long Review: They are great, the sound quality is great, and the remote is extremely handy. My one and only complaint is that the cord can become annoyingly long. It is basically the normal headphone length, doubled with a remote in the middle.
The remote is fun and handy, and works when your iPod is on hold. The play/pause turns it on and off when held down as the normal button does. It also has it's own hold button. Overall, it's great. However, I think the cord could be shorter and if the price was lower, or you could buy them for cheaper w/out the included normal headphones (and use the money to buy a different type, use the ones you have or whatever) then this would be great.
4 stars
Rating: Summary: Works great for me Review: For me this has been an iPod essential. I use the remote always.
The remote has been so handy. I can easily access the volume, which I'm always adjusting in seems, depending on the track playing. I can skip tracks, rewind, pause, and turn the iPod on and off.
I can have my iPod in my messenger bag and clip the remote on the strap. Or have my iPod in my jeans pocket and clip the remote to my coat. The hold switch on my iPod is on, of course, so that no buttons are accidentally pressed on the iPod itself.
I've used my current remote for over a year and have never had any problems. It still works perfectly. Then again, I take care of it. Just reasonable care that it not get crushed, wet, or broken.
The design is stunning. Simple and impressive. Looks very sleek and nice. A very attractive remote... shows the world you listen with style.
Rating: Summary: REMOTE GOOD DETAILS BAD Review: The iPod remote is a very good thing just wish it was designed better. The cord is way long. I think it needs to be < a foot, with the standard iBuds you get about 6 foot of cord. Are you supposed to wrap it around your body several times ?
I think the remote should come with no cord attached at all, just a in and out plug and various lengths of cable included. Pick whatever suits you.
The clip is flimsy and pointed the wrong direction. [ Just like the power in on the iBook.] Is this a lefthanded thing ? I wish they had used one of those industrial metal badge holder clips instead.
I LOVE the idea of a wired iPod remote SOMEBODY needs to make us a GOOD one. PLEASE.
Rating: Summary: The cord is too long. But it does what it's supposed to. Review: It is what it is but IMO the cord on it when attached to the iPod's headphone cord makes it dangle down near your knees. Makes it too long for average use. Could be useful when carrying it in a back pack though as it would reach into it with cord to spare. Surface of remote is mirrored like back of iPod. Buttons are easy to use and clearly marked. Should be lit however.
Rating: Summary: Great, but goes downhill from there Review: I got an iPod 20 for christmas last year and have been using it with the iBuds and remote. At first I thought "wow, this is great!" The remote is useful and the iBuds are better than anything from sony for less that $50. However I soon identified a specific list of problems with these. Let me tell you them:
1. The remote cable is way too long. At about 3 feet I was having problems keeping the remote cable and iBud cables tucked away so they'd be useful, and I (at 6 feet) am not exactly short on height in which to use up the cable length.
2. The iBuds have no bass. As a test of headphones I always listen to Seven Nation Army (White Stripes) or Are You Gonna Be My Girl (JET), since they both have heavy treble and very subtle bass. With the iBuds the treble and mid range came over clearly as I could want (I now know why Steve Jobs is half deaf), but the bass is completely inaudible.
3. The remote is very fragile. After about 3 months of intermittent use, my remote cable has somehow broken so that you only get audio in one ear unless you lay with the iPod suspended above your head. It's the oddest failiure I've ever had in headphones, and a bit dissapointing.
Overall I still like the iBuds, but i'm planning on upgrading to the in-ear model. I just wish they made a good, durable remote.
