Summary: BEWARE
Review: I did my due diligence. Consumer reports, and other places and decided to by the D52130 and it was a fantastic TV for 1 year and 4 months. Then the power just went off and wouldn't come back on( Best Surge protector money could buy on it to). Repair=$... (Power Supply is integrated into main digital board)

After getting very ( upset ), I researched on the web and found the same exact story from other consumers on this exact model and other RCA TV's. The real problem comes down to poor soldering on RCA products. Overtime weird problems like this creep up because they changed their methods a while back.

So dont' windup paying 2 grand for 16 months. Oh and from what I hear the fixes the extended warranties offered eventually just didn't help from what I read on the web.

Product was great during its short life. What happened to TV's outliving your pets?

Summary: Awesome TV - especially for the value
Review: I highly recommend this TV! 4:3 is the way to go, most people watch 80% tv is 4:3 mode (do you watch DVD's more than you watch regular TV?) 16:9 mode on most TV's either stretch the image or leave annoying grey bars on the side. Mitsubishi recommends you play the tv in stretch mode all the time so you don't burn the screen which is something you don't have to worry about on this tv. Also, the fetch mode on this TV makes the High-definition even crisper. The simmulated surround-sound on this on this unit is wonderful. There are two problems with this TV, (which aren't real problems), there is only one set of component video in, although if you buy the right HDTV directv unit it goes into the svga port instead. Secondly, the picture in picture is one set size, the consolation prize is that you can put it anywhere on the screen.

Review: I just love this tv the picture quality is great hooked up to direct tv. DVDS look awesome the picture looks like your looking through a window. Also not bad when playing vhs I was surprised. The speakers in the tv sound almost like surround sound. I looked at a lot of others but I found this RCA to be the best. It also have a very nice silver finish on front with back on back.

Summary: Never had a single problem with the RCA D52130
Review: I was surprised at the others' comments. I've had my RCA for almost 3years and I've never experienced a single problem with my TV. Color and quality are exceptional. Not one problem with powering up, display or sound. As far as customer service goes, I have no experience. But, I've taken care of my product and I'm sure not to abuse it and I'm completely satisfied with my purchase. It's unfortunate to hear everyone else's stories.

Review: Similar failure with my RCA pojection TV. Had a power outage and now the TV will not turn on. I had it plugged into a proper surge protector.

I have left it unplugged as is suggested by others for an hour and no luck restarting the TV. It is too bad a $2000 TV doesn't last. If you check with Consumer Reports you'll find RCA, (really Thomson Electronic Products of France) projection TVS have the W O R S T repair record with a 22% repair rate. Sony is best at 9 %. Should have bought a Sony.

Summary: The RCA/Thomson service has been a nightmare to deal with.
Review: This is the letter I sent to Thomson/RCA

To whom it may concern, June 19, 2003

Although I am writing this note to whom it may concern, it appears that once you have my money no one is concerned anymore. On April 4, 2002 we were delivered a RCA HDTV Model D52130. It was purchased 7 days previously at [local store] in Mayfield, Ohio. Three months after the set arrived the sound from the speaker system started to intermittently crackle. When the repairman tested the sound we could not reproduce the crackle. I ended up purchasing a surround sound system to avoid the intermittent crackle. Two weeks ago the TV would not power up. So we called Thomson to schedule a repair. The serviceman reported that the "powerbox wasn't working and that it would have to be brought in for servicing." This set is 14 months old. I paid $1899.00 for a [poor product]. I will have it serviced to the tune of $412.00. And I don't expect that you really care about satisfied customers since my wife just got off the phone with your Expert resource Assoc... and he claims that there was nothing that could be done since the 1 year warrantee had lapsed 60 days ago. All of my business associates and all of my friends and all of my family will be hearing about this wonderful experience. I will be logging on to all of the product review web pages and scorching the RCA HDTV D52130 as loud and as often as my Adelphia powerlink will let me.

A very dissatisfied customer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This will not be the last you hear from me!
To Amazon readers:{Thomson is the only authorized service center for RCA. The $412.00 service price is a set rate for any repair that needs to be brought into be serviced.}

Summary: RCA will not stand behind this product
Review: This tv does have a great picture but there are a couple of problems. Number one every time there is a surge coming in the house I have to unplug the unit for about three hours even though I have it plugged into a quality surge protector. Second and most important after about six months the surround mode went out which also to a lesser extent affected the regular stereo sound. RCA gave me the number to a service center and they came and took the tv for three weeks and during that time RCA said it couldnt do anything to speed up the process. Well now three months later the same problem has popped up yet i'm supposed to go through the same BS I went through before. I will never purchase another RCA product EVER!
