Summary: Works great!
Review: Does everything I could want in a turntable!, plays 45's, 33's! It's great at the price it's at!

Summary: Scraping the bottom here...
Review: I agree with several of the recent reviws of this item. All that can really be said for this turntable is that it does play back LPs in an easy, no-fuss manner.

The sound quality is mediocre at best; about like listening to an FM radio station. Maybe that's a bit harsh, but don't expect this turntable to fulfill your vinyl dreams. It just might get you addicted to it though; in which case you'll want to skip directly to a more Audiophile-grade belt turntable (Rega, NAD, Pro-Ject, Music Hall).

Rating this table objectively is difficult, as @ $80 it's pretty much as good as you're going to get under $100-$150 (The low-end Sony and Denon tables in this same price range appear to just be rebadged versions of the AT-PL50 and are more money). It's just that for $80 there's not very much "good" that you get. It's suitable for the person who has a few old LPs that otherwise won't be used at all, if you're thinking about starting into vinyl though, do yourself a favor and save up more to get a better table or spend time to find a nice second-hand vintage table.

Summary: Budget turntable not worth it
Review: I bought this, used it for a few days and ended up returning this turntable. I thought the performance and quality was pretty weak.

I knew before I purchased this turntable that it was considered a budget turntable. I just didn't realize how poor quality it would be. I had low expectations, and even those weren't met.

Virtually every record I played on this turntable skipped. Even records that were in pristine, near mint shape.

I was surprised that it doesn't even have a p-mount cartridge, just a cheap needle.

Overall, a poorly made product. If you're in the market for a new turntable, you'd be better off either combing thrift stores for a used turntable in good condition, or spending $250 or $300 on a decent turntable that will last and perform well.

I ended up doing the latter.

Summary: Doesn't operate properly. . .
Review: I don't know if it had anything to do with the assembly of the product upon receiving it. The problem is that is doesn't play the record, no sound came out even after I read the instructions and followed them! Then the needle skipped across my new album??? Now I need to contact the manufacturer rather than the seller?

hmmm.

Summary: Works fine for me!
Review: I dont know if they redesigned the model I bought since the other reviews were written (mine was manufacured in August 2004), but I absolutely love this little turntable. I think for the price the sound is excellent on my system. I plugged this into the second auxiliary jack of my 50W/channel Panasonic dolby-digital mini hi-fi system and in my case many of my albums sound almost as good as my CD's. Crisp highs, well defined lows and there is no noticable wow, flutter, or excessive rumble. I also have had no problems with skipping. Perhaps the other reviewers did not have the unit on a level surface? I suppose if you hooked this into a high-end Onkyo reciever you may notice some flaws, but for the average person on an average budget I think this sounds and works absolutely great. It looks and operates questioningly similar to the Sony 250 which sells for about $129...which makes me think in that case you're paying for the name brand on the same model. I would say start with this and work up if you're concerned. I am very fussy with my electronics and I am very happy with this great sounding turntable.

Summary: Frustrating
Review: It's a good price for a turntable with a pre-amp, but this thing skips an awful lot. Even on a brand new record it was skipping, which is very frustrating.

Summary: Pictures are deceiving
Review: This chinese turntable is about as cheap as they go and it shows. The tone arm is a flimsy piece of metal that looks about as sturdy as a portable radio antenna.

Review: Vinyl couldn't sound much better than on this little 'table. Sure, you could spend hundreds more, but why? The difference would be difficult to discern, and with the money saved you could purchase improvement parts to your liking. This is just a great buy for any avid record listener.

Pros:
-Warm, crisp tone...not harsh or flat
-Deep stereo imaging
-Built in phono stage accurately amplifies signal
-Beautifully integrated parts

Cons:
-The unit is rather light, but this doesn't seem

to detract from the playback
-High-end users might want to upgrade stylus (small fee)

Overall, you just can't beat this turntable in the price range. It truly stands out as a fine piece of audio equipment in a price range that is full of sub-par machines. I highly recommend buying this turntable - especially if you are using it with a newer receiver that lacks a dedicated phono stage. Don't pass this one up.
