Summary: Heavy & Durable -like a Granite Rock..
Review: And yet, it features Audiophile and DJ Qualites to flawlessly play albums. The Elliptical Stylus provides more accurate tracing of groove modulations. Most DJ Styli are in the less sophistacated Spherical/round shape. Reading the 10 page Installation and Operation Guide is necessary. I say this because of the Voltage Selector Switch. It has access through holes in the platter. The same is true for the Pre-Amp Selector Switch. 3 speeds, Dust Cover, Forward & Reverse Button, Pitch Selector, 45-RPM Adapter, Beautiful Red Stroboscopic Light, and a Popup Stylus Target Light. I have no intentions of ever scratchng an album. However, the options are Eye Candy.

Summary: How Sweet It Is
Review: I bought this turntable from Amazon for $220 after returning a Teac P-988 which cost $90 and was worth $10. Without using audiophile jargon, let me just say that the AT-PL120 reproduces sounds that are rich, pure, full and real. I could not believe how enjoyable it was to listen to this format of music once again. This turntable is solid, heavy, attractive, works flawlessly and is well worth $220. It's money well spent.

Summary: A trip down memory lane!
Review: I stopped listening to LPs as most folks did when CD players hit the mass market. Convenience was the name of the game, particularly the ease of listening to music on the road. But what a tremendous difference in sound vinyl really provides! I chose the AT-PL120 after several hours of research on the web over a couple of days. I first considered spending the least amount of money and considered the entry-level model AT-PL50. I talked to an audiophile shop and while the shop thought it was a good entry-level model, they advised me to consider the next step up because it was well worth the investment in terms of sound quality and equipment durability. Upon close inspection at a local electronic store, the AT-PL50 looked really cheap. I decided to spend more money and get decent quality. I considered the AT-APL120 and the Music Hall MMF2.1, which has pretty decent reviews. The difference came down to saving $50 or so and decided to try the Audio Tecnica. I must admit, the sound is impressive and the built quality of the turntable is really good. Besides the DJ features, which I really do not care about, it has several bells and whistles that makes it very professional looking. I am using a pair of B&W bookshelf and a Yamaha RX-777, perhaps one of the few available stereos for music listening you can still get. The combination works well, but no doubt the vinyl sounds much better than a well-recorded CD. The AT-PL120 makes the sound really come alive! If you still have your old records and invested in taking good care of them, spend a few bucks and get this turntable. If I ever decide to burn a few LPs to play them in my car, it also has the built in amp. All in all, after two days of playing LPs on this turntable, I am very satisfied. The AT-PL120 comes pretty well boxed too. Too bad that Amazon packed it in a big but soft box, which was open on one side when UPS delivered. If it wasn't for the Audio Tecnica box, I would have refused the shipment. Luckily it all works like it is supposed to.

Summary: Brings new life to your vinyl...
Review: Purchased the ATPL120 after doing a fair amount of research. It's a vast improvement over the 30(!) year old Garrard I had been using and was dying a slow death. My only complaints are a) would like to see a semi-automatic version that returns the arm back after at the end of the record and b) the cables are awfully short and are not modular(they are factory installed). You can purchase extensions, but would prefer to just have the jacks on the back of the turntable and buy my own cables at whatever length I need.
But these are minor issues. The quality is great and it will treat your vinyl well. Oh, and my kids think when used in the dark with the pop-up stylus light on and the strobe indicators it makes a great nitelight...

Summary: A magnificent piece of equipment!
Review: This is a turntable/tonearm/cartridge combo that, years ago, might have sold for 3 times the $220 bargain price. It is heavy, solid as a rock, dead quiet, beautifully designed and constructed, and is making my LP collection come alive once again. I applaud Audio-Technica for manufacturing such a fine product.
