Summary: is it necessary?
Review: Before you shell out big bucks for these, ask yourself if it is really necessary. Because I am a sucker for perfection, I went out and purchased them. Did I see a HUGE improvement in picture quality compared to another brand of component video cable I was using? No. At least not on my 27" SONY WEGA tv. Okay, maybe the black levels are a bit better. I got these because I do believe better cables last a lot longer than cheaper-made ones. In addition, because I have so MANY cables running from my reciever, I figured cables with better jackets and good sheilding should cut back on video interference, producing better quality pictures.

Summary: What's your budget?
Review: Do you own a 27 inch TV with a $27 DVD player? Don't bother. Do you own a $5000 amp, a $3000 DVD player, and a set of speakers that you might bury yourself in? Don't bother buying, unless you want to burn money. Monster may look pretty, and the performance of Monster vs. no name is certainly proven in the quantifiable scientific analysis...but your ear can't hear it.
Simply put, buy comparable cables with and without the Monster name and run a test with your ears. You will probably find that you can save yourself significant $ by purchasing equally constructed cabling without the Monster name...

Summary: A definite buy!
Review: I do have to admit that being a smart shopper I was hesitant to shell out so much money for "just a cable". But upon the advise of a coworker who said "now that you have a big screen TV you HAVE TO GET A COMPONENT VIDEO CABLE". And right he was. I definitely notice a difference in picture color (not necessiarly in quality but the colors are cleaner and more true to life) when playing DVD movies. I would definitely advise investing in a good cable!

Summary: BEST CABLE TO CONNECT YOUR DVD PLAYER !
Review: I purchased a Sony WEGA 27 inch tv. I took advantage of it's rear component input labeled video4. I connected my Sony DVP360 Dvd player. With dvd viewing, the movie Dinosaur, Bug's Life, Toy Story 1 and 2, and Vegas Vacation, the colors were very vibrant, details were dynamic, and the picture quality was very accurate in at least 480 lines of resolution. I have viewed these same movies on larger screen HDTV's such as the Pioneer Elite and was disappointed??? Glass picture tubes provide a more realistic picture. I can't imagine that I can do any better for my television than these cables. I am completely happy with dvd movie watching on my Sony WEGA with these Monster component 3 cables!

Summary: top of the line product
Review: It may sound somewhat surprising, at first glance, that a short piece of cable between your TV and DVD player can make a noticeable difference in the picture quality, but once you compare a cheap cable with a good one, you'll see that there is a difference! My DVD player came with a very cheap-looking cable with three RCA connectors on each side, and I used this cable to hook up the DVD player to the component (RGB) input of my TV before doing anything else. I dismissed this cable immediately as the picture was much noisier than I expected. A $15 S-Video cable performed better. However, I had to adjust the settings in video equalizer of my DVD player to increase color saturation, and also had to decrease sharpness of the picture to make noise unnoticeable. Finally, I bought the Monster cable (don't tell my wife about it!). This cable resulted in a perfectly sharp and clean picture without any adjustments in the CD player. Due to double-shielding of this cable, there was no sign of the noise that I saw with the S-Video cable either.

I do not know if there is a noticeable difference between this cable and a less sophisticated one that may cost half of its price. I guess, everything depends on the kind of TV and DVD player you are using. But I can say for sure that my experience convinced me that there is a tremendous difference between this high-end cable and those from the very low end.

The last thing: I do not think that it makes any sense to use such an expensive cable for a connection other than component video (Y + two color difference channels), also called "color stream" by Toshiba. If you do not have a component video input, use either S-video, or composite video (Video+2 audio connector). In the latter case (or if you need a cable to connect your VCR) a cheaper cable would do. This one is worth the money only if you do not want to settle for anything less than perfect.
