Description:

Cool, you just got that new DVD player. But your audio-video receiver has only three sets of inputs and your CD player, VCR, and minidisc player already occupy those--what to do? Recoton's AV500 AV switcher is a fine solution.

With three sets of AV inputs and one set of AV outputs, the AV500 should cover most situations. If you've got a TV with just a single set of inputs, this unit will greatly expand your set's ability to accept a satellite receiver, video game, or camcorder without you having to constantly plug and unplug cables.

The AVS500 is so small that it can be placed just about anywhere. A single rotary switch on the gray wedge-shaped faceplate selects among the three inputs, while around back are the input and output jacks. (We should note that the selector knob feels a bit flimsy, but it works fine.) And though Recoton includes one set of cables (stereo RCA and RCA-tipped composite-video) with the AVR500, you'll need to supply additional sets to suit your requirements.

If you find yourself in need of additional AV connections, Recoton's effective and affordable AVR500 should help you efficiently meet your needs. --Wayne Garcia
