Summary: Great value for money!
Review: Really glad I bought these. They sound great, and look cool too. Battery life seems good as I must have been playing them with the same ones for over ten hours now. They're not showing any signs of running out yet!

They seem to fill the room with sound. Not earth shattering bass, but good and warm. Vocals are clear, clean and crisp and they go pretty loud too.

The way they fold together like a double CD case means they're dead easy to take around with you + the colours are so vivid they're a definate conversation piece as another reviewer has said!

If you want portable audio, a good buy...!

Summary: Good sound for what it is.....
Review: So these speakers don't have earth shattering bass like my living room stereo, but, for what they are they have a pretty decent sound, not as tinny as some reviews said. The bass is there, just not really floor shaking. I originally ordered the platinum but settled for the limeade yellow when the other took too long to even get shipped. Hey, these don't look too bad! They are a nice shade of yellow and not too bright. These will be used solely for trips to the wilderness, to the beach, or on vacation where the portables would be taken along. Batteries are simple to install, although it took a minute to figure out how to open the door to put them in. The power switch is located below the line in and is hard to reach if you have big fingers and aren't looking at it. It comes with the batteries (4-AA) and the connector cable for your devices. There is no manual included, but the set up is pretty much a 'no-brainer'. These are not meant to be used as primary speakers, but are portable, to be used when the situation calls for it. Overall, I think this portable speaker system will serve its purpose and I am pleased with them.

Summary: Compact, durable, and sounds good...
Review: This is, by far, the only portable audio product I've ever
considered to be good-quality...

The sound is good, considering the size. The bass is a little
skimpy, but, I'm not really into "bassy" music. The treble and
mid are pretty clean, with very low stray distortion. The only
problems I have with this product are the battery compartment and
the exposed drivers (the little magnet/voice-coil exciters).
Putting batteries in this thing can kinda' be a hassle because it
seems that the battery compartment is a little smaller than it
should be. And the main reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the
exposed exciters... They are kinda' delicate, especially for what
this product is designed for. Maybe Wharfedale will revise these
in the future and enclose the exciters somehow. Despite that,
it's built pretty good. I tore into the one I got now, and I must
say that the thing is very durable, and the plastic is not the
brittle kind that regular CD cases are made of.

Overall, I think this is a great idea that just needs a few
revisions. Although, it's still good the way it is. It's really
useful for multimedia presentations, picnics, portable audio
listening, meetings, temporary background music, and it also
tends to start a lot of interesting conversations.

Summary: Great sound! Incredibly portable..! Take them everywhere...!
Review: Wharfedale's done a fantastic job with this truly innovative product... I've always found portable speakers to be really disappointing! Normally they're bulky {definately not portable} and sound really hollow and tinny. But not the Wharefdale Loudman. Not only are they the same size as your CD's, so they're really easy to stow away, but they sound fantastic!

Whether on a business trip, to boost the sound from you laptop, or on holiday with your MP3 Player or Discman... These are speakers you actually would consider taking travelling with you...!

I take mine everywhere. A must have...!

Summary: WOW
Review: What can I say. The guy that invented this must have been a genius! If you want great sound from a truly portable product then this is a must have. I use it with my Ipaq and portable cd player and the sound blows away other portable products. I am sitting writing this report listening to "Mr Jones" by The Counting Crows and it is phenomenal (both the CD and the speakers).

And boy does it go loud without distorting like other products. One other big difference is that no matter whether you sit directly in front of it or at a 90 degree angle you still seem to get the full sound. Amazing. This product is the best out there and should be a lot more expensive than it is. Get one now - you won't regret it.

Summary: Cheap and flimsy
Review: When I first got these speakers they seemed flimsy and cheap, but since they weren't that expensive, I decided to try them out. First of all I had trouble getting the batteries that are included with the speakers in (I also later discovered that regular AA batteries don't fit, you have to get ones that are shorter just for the speakers). The sound is OK, nothing marvelous but fair enough for the price.

Then about 20 days after I got them, after I had only used them maybe 4 times, when I turned them on they produced hardly any sound at all. There is no volume adjustment on the speakers which was annoying as I had my CD player volume all the way up, which coming out of anything other than these speakers would be way too loud.

Maybe my speakers were defective but I wasn't happy enough with them to get a replacement, I'm spending my money on something else.

Summary: Bad sound, good flame effects
Review: While the portability cannot be beat, the sound from these was always terrible. There is no low end and the highs are pure tin. The flames shooting from the battery compartment and the subsequent meltdown 5 months after purchase created quite a light show, but the smell of burning plastic lingered much too long. I'd give these a pass if I were you.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: Worthless sound, weak and distorted. I waited 2 months for these with great anticipation but I am sorry now. I recomend you look elsewhere. Oh yea, they are bigger than I thought they would be as well.
