Summary: Good Product but.....
Review: I'd have to agree with those that say overheating is a concern. I've owned two of these units, the first of which had a propensity for shutting down due to excessive heating and I can't ever recall the fan coming on at any time unless it really is that quiet. Having said that I own the SA-G90 model now and so far I've had no problem although heating still occurs every now and then. I truly think the product is good, but you need fairly good ventilation for these units and I think that applies to just about any receiver these days.

UPDATE: Regarding the overheating on these units I've discovered that the fan does indeed come on, however only at a certain volume level. I've noticed that if the volume knob is approximately half way turned up, the unit will actually cool down pretty consistently. Having said that I believe the fan and cooling system in general were designed to cope with high volume output. So far I continue to have little difficulty with my unit and am quite satisfied with the purchase.

Summary: Burnt out
Review: Mine lasted for 14 mos. before burning out. I can still get sound out of it, but if I have a cd playing, I can hear it on all inputs (tv, dvd, tuner, etc.). I can't believe Technics made such a poorly engineered product. I had a Technics receiver before this one that had lasted me for 15+ years through moving many times and college abuse, so I felt comfortable going with Technics again. I should've checked around more. Don't buy it.

Summary: Technics Can't Make A Good Surround Sound Receiver
Review: Technics had a great reputation for producing a high quality, long lasting product in a reasonable price range. I purchased a SA-DX930 about three years ago after my first Technics surround sound receiver took a dump after about five years of use. It worked well right up until it crashed and burned. Before I had these last two Technics receivers I had a Technics non-surround stereo receiver for ten years. I sold it to a friend, it was working just fine and they kept it for several years after that. I don't think Technics can make a decent, good quality, long lasting surround sound receiver. I know one thing I've learned my lesson, Technics use to be a quality product but not any more. This time I'm going to do my research and buy the best I can in my budget but I can guarantee you this it won't be a Technics! And it's to bad because they use to be a great product for the money.

Summary: JUNKHEAP
Review: This product is incredibly unreliable as discovered by about 95% of the people who have purchased it. Technics (Panasonic) will affect repairs when demanded by the 1 year warranty but it is virtually assured that the product will fail repeatedly and certainly not last beyond its warranty. Any good review of the SADX930 was guaranteed to have been made by a new owner who simply hasn't had his/her first bad experience with it yet. The unit runs hot and is probably a fire hazard. Mine lasted for less than ten uses playing DVD movies before the digital audio completely failed and the VCR audio was bleeding over into the tuner audio. The top of the unit was too hot to leave my hand on it for any length of time. After it failed, I swept the Web for review sites and found a few which invariably had the vast majority of reviewers crucifying the unit for its heat production and early demise. You are forewarned. . .DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

Summary: please dont buy it
Review: unfortunately i have to agree with 95% of the reviews so far. i had purchased the SA-DX930 around two years ago and not even a month after the warranty expired it crapped out on me. it has a serious over-heating problem and i too had the problem of the signal "bleeding" over when other sources were switched. i bought the unit because of a previous model i had owned which worked great. so i dont recommend this unit to any one wanting a receiver to work for more than a year.

Summary: Badda Boom after 1 1/2 years
Review: Yes, I must agree with other members, when they say this System is "OK" for the first year. Mind you, I didn't have it on all the time, only for the occasion DVD or VHS tape. Never used it for a radio receiver or for a CD.

Only after 1 1/2, I put in a DVD and badda boom.., it crapped out.... <sigh>.

It might be in your advantage to pay more for a better quality system (<I>IMHO</I>).
