Summary: Wow! Some of the Cleanest Sound you'll ever hear! Wow!
Review: Coupled with the top-of-the-line Denon DVD player, HDCD music and DVD videos sound and look awesome! I have my 5700 powering four Polk Audio SRT speakers and an PSW1200 sub and LOOK OUT! It literally can cause my glass tabletop to vibrate, just around 127db (yes, it's true!). The only downside is that some movies can cause the receiver to clip (it safely shuts itself down and you just need to cycle the power) for particular scenes at moderate-to-high volume levels

Summary: Another AVR-5700 fan - for many more years to come!
Review: I am echoing ALL positive reviews of this wonderful piece of music maker. Here is my own observation: When I switched the source from Pioneer [affordable] 525 DVD player to the audiophile [again, affordable] CAL Delta CD transport, the diffeference was immediately obvious. The sound just improved in almost every aspect: warmer yet detailed music presentation, wider and deeper soundstage, taller and broader image. I could go on, but you get the idea. To me that tells a lot about this receiver's resolution power thanks to the 24/96 DACs. Feed it with so-so electronics, and it gives you decent, listenable sound. If you instead link it with better digital sources, it will offer a huge musical experience that was only attainable with high-end gears such as Lexicon, Proceed, Meridian, and Krell. Many music lovers listened and compared this receiver with the separates I just mentioned, and they didn't hear much difference. After living with this gorgeous beast for just a few days, I want to believe what they say.

Summary: theatre the way it should be.
Review: I live in a townhome, I suggest making very good friends with the neighbors before you buy the 5700. Otherwise, you will not use any of the power that you pay for, and you will be just as happy with one of the lower Denon models. On the other hand, I had to have this THX receiver. This thing is huge, in more ways than one. The first thing I had to upgrade was my stereo rack. The 5700 is a good 5-6 inches deeper than my previous receiver. The only problem I had with setup was with my television - To get the S-Video to work, along with the Denon's on screen displays, my TV had to be on channel 00. (something that took me 3 hours to figgure out without my television manual in hand) Overall, I am much more happy with my AVR 5700 purchase, than I am with my townhome purchase. I just wish I could turn the volume up.

Summary: Denon's 5700 holds the Heavyweight Receiver Belt
Review: I picked up this receiver as an upgrade to my previous Denon receiver (the AVR-2500) which I had for almost 4 years. The reason I bought my first Denon receiver is the fact that 10 years ago, when I bought my first CD player (which just happened to be a Denon) I have never had a problem with it nor ever needed a tune-up. I did lots and lots of shopping around before purchasing this Denon, and found that it was the top of its class. 140 Watts per channel makes this Denon a real screamer. 5-Channel Stereo, all of us reviewers can rant and rave about this, but you have to hear it to believe it. It simply makes any CD so awesome that 2-Channel Stereo just doesn't cut it afterwards. Dolby Digital and DTS make this Denon so versatile for all movies. And we cannot forget to mention THX-Ultra Certified...simply put: the Best of the Best. It is even set up for upgrading to future formats (6th, 7th and 8th channel) This receiver, even though so complex on its inside, is so easy to set up. It practically walks you through everything with its on screen programming guide in nice, easy steps. One word of advice: after buying this, spend the extra bucks for the higher-end cables and hook-ups, they make a world of difference. The Denon AVR-5700 is for anyone who likes to just sit back and relax and listen to their favorite CD, and for anyone who likes to watch movies the way Hollywood wants us to see them: Big Loud Scary and Fun.

Summary: The Receiver from Heaven
Review: I've had this receiver for about a month and the features are endless... Absolutely incredible sound even at low volume.... The detail is extremely crisp and the bass is profound. The DSP simulation on this receiver is amazing and with a digital connection from a dvd or cd player you feel like you are in the middle of the concert hall or in the middle of the action when watching movies. The 5 channel stereo is heavenly and will make your favorite artist that much better.. I sampled alot of receivers before buying this one, so take advantage of my thorough investigation and spend the extra couple of bucks on this mammoth receiver. (weighs in excess of 50 Pounds) I picked up this receiver through a dealer on an auction site and got a killer deal on it and am glad that I did so. leaves a little extra money for those digital cables and such. A must buy for any Home Theater Enthusiast.

Summary: What a great toy to have
Review: Let me start off by saying that this receiver has practically anything and everything that most people will ever need for their home theater. Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound means that you can watch your favorite movies in any format you like best. THX-Ultra certified means that it is the top of the line. It has a very cool 5-channel stereo function, which I find wonderful when I listen to my CD's, music playing equally from all speakers. It has a plethora of inputs and outputs for basically everything. It has digital inputs that you wouldn't believe: 4 Optical, 3 Coaxial and an RF input for Laserdisc Players. It has 2 sets of Component Video inputs and 1 set of outputs. It has inputs and outputs for: Phono, CD, DVD, VDP, TV/DBS, Video Aux, VCR-1, VCR-2, MD/Tape-1 and Tape-2. It also has S-video inputs for all video sources. Surround sound wise, the AVR-5700 comes with 2 sets of hookups for surround speakers, Surround A and Surround B (it is the first receiver to have this). This is so you can use different surround speakers for music and movies. Which is very nice since some surround speakers are built specifically for movies while others are for music. It has a Video Select Function, which allows you to watch one source (visual) while listening to another source (audio). The remote this Denon comes with is a learning remote, which makes it so nice not to have a whole bunch of remotes laying around. It is also future sound format upgradable via 8-Channel inputs and outputs. All in all, this little baby (not too little, weighing in at a whopping 50+ pounds!) is worth every penny and more spent. I love my Denon, it has so many cool and interesting features, so much more than I can say. Buy this, and you won't be disappointed.

Summary: Best A/V Receiver Anywhere
Review: This is my second Denon receiver, my first was the AVR-2700. Both are awesome receivers but the AVR-5700 has the capability to use up to 7 speakers instead of 5 and puts out 140 watts per channel. This lets you switch from bipolar surrounds for movies to direct radiating rears for AC-3 or 5 channel stereo. The 5 channel stereo mode is simply unbelievable. If you like listening to music as well as movies, this is the receiver for you.

Summary: You can't go wrong with Denon.
Review: This receiver is just about perfect, and when Denon came out with the AVR5800 they did achieve perfection. This receiver packs 140 watts per channel, every Dolby decoding mode known to God, Ray Dolby and man, a clean, ergonomically sound interface (no Tokyo Light Show as in other receivers and a pertty decent learning remote.
The only thing I don't like about this receiver is the fact that it does not do high bandwidth (HDTV) component video switching and the tuner stage is pretty weak. But if you want fantastic, solidly built, expandable A/V gear then Denon is the place to go.

Summary: AHEAD OF ITS TIME
Review: Unlike many units out there, this one stands out as ahead of its time - and even by todays standards, still a major contender. Like the Acura legend, the AVR 5700 remains legendary. Quality build, rock solid performance for the HT enthusiast. Musical performance is also decent, especially due to ALPHA 24 processing. I have never clipped the amps on this unit running full throttle - of course, you must use tone defeat in order to eliminate risk; with good source the sound is very clean and undistorted. I use 5700 to drive 5 full range Paradigm's and often with subwoofer off - low end reached 30hz; ended up purchasing a sunfire sub to reach bottom end of 18hz.
No regrets.
