Summary: The Haze Clears From My Eyes
Review: Although I wish that I had waited for this good price, I am very happy to have bought the Elura 50. The documentation is good, though book length and I have been learning as I go along and am enjoying my education. I wish that there was an "English only" operations manual so that it would be smaller for carrying along in my camera case.
There is still a little hesitantency in using the camera which will get better as I get braver and take more movies. I still have to get it set up with my computer to edit and transfer and plan to do so soon.

Summary: My first camcorder and so far I like it
Review: As the previous reviewer mentioned, I really glad I bought this camera because so far I really satisfied with this camcorder.
All the problems with Elura 40MC,low light quality and motor noise, I did not find it in this model.
My wife taking a lot of taping for my 6 months baby activity :)

Summary: Perfect Vacation Camera
Review: Got it for vacation flicks. Don't expect it to be "super" great at night. Perfect for everyday home/vacation use.

Summary: Very Disappointed
Review: I almost bought this camera as a gift. It LOOKS great, but LOOKS really can be deceiving! The picture quality is TERRIBLE! It is incredibly grainy video. The picture has speckles all over it. I'm thankful I didn't waste the money. I was able to see the picture on a monitor in 3-different stores. Then I asked to see some other cameras in the same price range using the SAME monitor -- what a difference. The Sony DcrTRV-33 and even the DcrTRV-22 had beautiful pictures. Even the Panasonic in its class looked much better. My advice... take a look at the Sony, and ask to see the picture on a monitor, if the store doesn't have one, go to another store that does. Otherwise, prepare to kick yourself because you won't like what you see when you get it home. Good Luck all--

Summary: This one hurt!
Review: I am a big fan of Canon products, Canon printer, Canon Powershot, and I am real happy with both. When I first set my eyes on the Elura 50, I fell in love. A perfect companion to my Powershot! I must say in opening the box, the 50 is well built and has a beatiful faux metallic finish. The size is nothing short of amazing. But then I had to ruin it by taking video! I took my first test video in my kitchen during the day, which I would consider pretty well lit. The video was so grainy I could hardly bare to watch it. I moved to other areas inside the house..a family room with a patio door open and all the lights on...still grainy. I must say when I did move outside the video was great. The audio was also not too great...the motor noise I thought was acceptable, but with the mic on top of the camcorder, it didn't pick up the audio from someone talking directly in front very well. Any more than 5 feet away and you would need to turn the TV volume way up. Also the auto focus, though not too bad, did seem to "wonder" while finding its focus...I ended up trading it in for a TRV-22. Great video both inside and out, great sound and focus. When Canon can make an Elura to match the video and sound quality of the 22, I'll buy it!

Summary: Great Camcorder
Review: I bought this 3 weeks ago and have used it in all conditions. I love it. This is my first camcorder and after reading all the reviews for various camcorders, I picked this one. So far, I have only used the auto mode and I have not seen any grainy effects like the other reviewers said. I've shot in low light and sunlight and the picture is perfect. I have already made DVDs with it and my family can't believe the quality from such a small camcorder. My only con would be battery life. It lasts about 45 minutes for me. I am just going to buy a high capacity battery then I'll be set.

Summary: Don't buy this or Cannon product line
Review: I bought this just a little over 1 year (after the warrany expires). Then it started REMOVE CASSETTE ERROR and after that the cassette is useless, because anything I film on it comes out distorted. So what's good about the greate features if it is no longer usable for just a year?

Summary: Solid Performance
Review: I have been expreimenting with different camcorders for about 15 years used to have Pansonic VHS, Sony 8. For recrational/family use I think one of the the most important features is portability. And this cam sure has it. Just slip it in your pocket! I own it for 2 weeks already and have performed various tests. 1.Daylight:Briliant vivid colors no artifacts. 2.Indoors:very good results with very descent saturation under normal conditions. 3.Low light: surprisingly good pickup with NO SNOW AT ALL even in full auto.( I have taped a school play, a visit to an aquarium, and a night NYFD responce to a fire.)4.Action:Very good image stabilizer.5.Price:Lower than many. Cons: no bracket for video light/mic. . Will update my review after I try to transfer my analog video to digital.
