Summary: Oldie but a Goodie
Review: i love my mp3 nomad IIc. my sister tried mine and had to buy one. it beats working out and having to listen to alot of talking on the radio. i love the ability to download music and re-download to change the music. the only drawback i have found is that my headphones did not last very long. i blew out one side of the headphone speaker and ended up buying a new one. i would like to upgrade my 128mb with a 32mb card but i dont know if its really worth it to do that for one hour more of music. a friend of mine has a rio brand and ive seen an rca brand, these do not compare to the nomad IIc. its has great sound, very compact, easy and convenient to use and download!

Summary: Best price performance
Review: I originally bought a Rio One, but after the first song I found it was a complete waste of money. Thanks to Amazon.com's great return policy, I returned it and bought the Nomad IIc and it's been perfect since. Buy a 128MB memory card too, and some batteries if you listen to it all the time. I bought some cheap... headphones... and they work perfectly. The sound quality is awesome. I reccomend this to everyone. It's so cheap compared to others!

Summary: Customer service really is atrocious
Review: I purchased a Nomad about a month ago. Both the software on the CD and the unit itself were faulty. No one answers Creative's non-toll-free phones, and email responses are not well thought-out and take 4 days each. After weeks of going back and forth, they finally accept that it is defective and are willing to provide me with an "RMA number" after I provide more information (an RMA number is required in order to return something with Creative --I have already registered and provided them with all the information twice) They suggest that it would be quicker if I returned the Nomad to the place where I purchased it, but because of their slow support, my 30 day warranty is now expired. I really don't expect to be using my Nomad for at least another month. The Nomad looks really great, and I'm still excited to try it, but Creative's customer support is perhaps the worst I've ever experienced.

Summary: Reliable, superb sound quality; and now an excellent value.
Review: I purchased the Nomad II 64megs over a year ago (for alot more than what it's going for now), and have used it daily since then without any problem.

With relatively low S/N ratio, the unit produces very clear quality sound (the best of all MP3 players I have used). The NII comes with standard features (repeat/loop/shuffle options, preset and user defined DSP, erase button), as well as built in voice recorder and radio tuner. Battery life is good, with 3-4 hrs use from rechargables, and 12 hrs from Alkalines.

The software, though obtuse is usable, and (thankfully) has ability to import M3U playlists from other programs. My only gripe with the NII is with the software, in that playorder can't be changed by dragging and dropping (have to use a 'shift up/down' button instead).

Another and one of the most important features of this product, is that it's memory capacity can be increased with standard SmartMedia cards (unlike some other MP3 players which require a proprietary memory add-on). With the latest firmware update, the NII is compatible with 128MB SM cards. When considering the decreasing cost of SM cards, this upgradability can add to the NII's longevity, while still keeping it's total price attractively below newer model MP3 players.

Summary: An audio miracle
Review: I use this little unit to record old time radio programs in MP3 "radio" quality format. The ease of use is just plain incredible. Playback is a dream. The Nomad CII has the feel of substance and quality. "Play Center 2" took me an hour or so to figure out, but once I followed the step-by-step instructions, downloading and ripping became a piece of cake. The downloading process is FAST and PAINLESS. As I write this, I am listening to the old "Lux Radio Theater" presenting an hour long presentation of "It's A Wonderful Life." This little miracle stores HOURS of old time radio. I also ripped an audio CD at 44Hz and to my very critical ear, the fidelity was SPLENDID! You won't be sorry if you buy this affordable little electronic gem.

Summary: So far, so good
Review: I wanted an MP3 player almost exclusively for running, and this fit the bill. Since I have a good supply of SmartMedia cards for my digital camera, I wanted something compatible. I also did not want to spend a lot of money on something like this, given the limited use and chances of eventually dropping and breaking it. (...)It is a great choice. Using a 64 mb memory card (which I already had), I have plenty of room for 16-20 songs, which is far more than I listen to on my 3-4 mile runs. Adding new songs involves only plugging in the USB cable, hitting "transfer," and waiting a few seconds each. Obviously, if you want a lot more memory, or you don't aleady have SmartMedia cards, your mileage may vary. I will eventually get one of the 6-10 gig players for other uses, but for my purposes, this player is perfect.

Summary: Excellent Quality. Best for the money
Review: I'm very imporessed by this player. After downloading the flash file from Creative's web page, my 128mb smartmedia card was recognized. Definatley recommended!
A few more of the nice features;
Headphone jack is tight, keeps the headphones in if the unit falls off your belt, acting like a safety cord.
The output from the headphone jack can be powered to drive speakers or changed to a simple nonpowered line out, for connection to audio equipment.
The headphones supplied are pretty nice, a little small for my big head though. Great bass response, although I'd recommend getting a better pair.
The Amazon listing mentions "clamshell" but the unit doesn't have a protective cover.
If you buy a memory card, be warned that the player doesn't add this to the total available. I.e. you won't be able to have a 160mb MP3 file. You could have a 128mb mp3 file and a seperate 32mb MP3 file though.

Summary: Excellent Entry Level Player
Review: If you're not up for paying big bucks for an iPod, this is a great unit. I connected it to my iMac right out of the box and iTunes recognized it's 32mb of internal memory and the 64mb smart media card I added so I could immediately start transferring tunes.

Mine didn't come with phones so I bought some Koss earbuds that have foam earpieces and small tubes that channel the sound into your ears. This was better than other phones I tried because they seal out the outside noise. By tweaking the sound settings on the Nomad llc, I get the crisp highs and nice clean bass. Perfect for my Miles Davis MP3 collection.

I reccomend this unit highly. It has excellent features, small size, awesome battery life, and a great price.
