Summary: cabo rules! rio/nomad are wastes of money.
Review: like other reviewers have said, don't listen to the negative reviews of this player. at 99 dollars (after the rebate) i certainly wasn't expecting to be listening to mp3s 30 seconds after opening the box, and you shouldn't either. read the manual. read the manual. read the manual. i didn't have any problems when i followed their pretty clear instructions from start to finish. the thing that gave me the most trouble was changing my parallel port to ECP or EPP or whatever it is. to do this, remember to go into the system settings when your computer is booting up. usually it is a button like F1 or F2. anyway, this player rocks. easy to use, fine sound quality, decent software. buy it! it is definately NOT worth the extra 100 or so bucks for the big names. i was debating about this forever and i think i made the right decision!

Summary: it's a good deal buy it
Review: this is a great product. i bought this product because i was looking for a mp3 that was cheap and had a good rate. listen to the manual it tells you everything you need to know about how to set it up. if your a first timer and dont understand what your doing just READ!!! it takes no longer than 2 minutes to download a 4 minute song. it takes only half an hour or less to set it up. i recomend this mp3 to all you people out there.

Summary: It's pretty good, but there is alot that could be better
Review: This mp3 player is pretty decent. It has awesome sound quality, just as good as a cd's. It never skips, which is pretty good. The price is very cheap for a 64 mb player, I mean I can fit 15 - 25 songs. It could be alot easier to install. It took me forever before I could find out how to use it. There is no backlighting which it should have. But overall it is totally worth it.

Summary: Perfect for Working Out
Review: Ignore the negative comments about this mp3 player. It works flawlessly as long as you remember to click on connect within the Cabo software. People often forget this step and most frustration lies in this. As for the reviews that the player is "buggy", that is simply not true. It works like a charm right out of the box. The sound quality is exceptional, remember to put in mp3s that are encoded at 128kb/s. It has less bass than normal but that is okay. The best setting out of the three is the "Classical" mode. Do not use the headphones provided, they are not representative of the sound quality the Cabo reproduces. Find a cheap pair of headphones like the Sennheiser MX400s or 500s and the sound is much cleaner. The construction of this unit are decieving because i have dropped it from a height of five feet and it was still playing without hesitation or pause. The only drawbacks this unit has is that it consumes batteries too fast, about 8 hours of playtime at the highest volume setting, the transparent blue case is tacky, and the parallel port connector. Otherwise, you will appreciate the aluminum brushed buttons which are a nice touch and the light weight for this unit (weighs almost as much as a motorola pager). The 64mb included are a bonus but you also have a memory card slot that can provide 32mb more. Fits about 16 songs at 128kb/s with just the 64mb of memory. Consider it as an attractive alternative to the other more commericalized mp3 players such as the NomadII or Rio 500/600 which are MUCM more expensive.

Summary: Good Buy, Great Price...
Review: After reading all the comments posted by others who purchased the Cabo player, I wondered if some people received the same player I did. I had no trouble connecting, installing or transfering files. The software was simple to use and allowed for seemless transfers to the player. As for the sound quality the 14 tracks I loaded at 128Kbits came across with CD quality. The transfer rate, also, was quite a surprise. I averaged 1.38Mbyte/sec, yes that is megabytes. It took about 25 seconds to transfer a song, which I felt was very reasonable. My only complaint is that the headphones are not the greatest quality, but if you consider the price, spending [$] to get a nicer pair is not too bad. Also, if you want to look at the software before you buy the player you can download it for free from [bestdata]. With all things considered, I feel this player was a very good purchase.

Summary: Low cost, good quality
Review: I'm shocked by the number of unfavorable reviews of this product. There is very little wrong with the Cabo, especially when you factor in the price.

The sound is as good as the MP3's you've encoded, not limited by the player but by the format. The included software is easy to use: connect then drag and drop. The buttons are all functional and easy to use. I especially like the volume that is controlled by buttons instead of a wheel.

Now to the drawbacks, that have been over-exaggerated by other reviewers. The included headphones aren't very good; the non-USB interface should have been changed for faster downloading. The front display isn't backlit, but is otherwise easily readable. I've had no problems with the internal software, unlike others. Battery life is a little less than your average CD player, but AAA's are cheap and you can see on the screen if you're running low on power.

This was very close to a five star review, and I hope you'll try this MP3 player as an alternative to the more expensive players like Rio.

Summary: A great buy for the money
Review: I'm just a kid so i wanted something as cheap as possible. After carefull browsing I came upon this wonderful machine and was amazed and how much it had for the great price of only $149.99. At first I was skeptical but I decided to go for it anyway and let me tell you, I'm glad I did. Plain and simple, the Cabo is a great first mp3 player. It has quite a reasonble disk space with which i was able to fit over 15 songs on at time. The instalation only took about 20 mintues out of the box and the sound quality is just fine. There is nothing amazing about this product but trust me - there is absoltely NOTHING wrong with it! If you want mp3 music as quickly and efficiently as possible, this machine is the way to go. (It's also so small and weightless - I couldn't believe it!)

Summary: Do not buy it
Review: 64M memory is not always availble. I formated the memory for 3 times. 1st time, 51M, 2nd time, 59M, 3rd time, 46M.

The remaining part was always there, but not usable.

Summary: Great product, terrible documentation
Review: Now that I have gotten this thing working, I love it. I find it fast and simple to download songs; it never skips, the sound quality is good. Not quite what you get from a premium sound system, but remember, this is a portable device - the sound is more than good enough for walking around, listening in a car, exercise, etc. It comes with software to convert your CDs to MP3 format.

The documentation, on the other hand, is terrible. It might as well not have any. I spent hours thinking I had a defective product, until I realized that when the player is plugged into your computer and you open the "CABO Desk" software, you must select "Connect and List" from the file menu *before* doing anything else. Otherwise you will be unable to transfer music. They charge $7 for tech support, so I refused to call. The software to turn CDs into MP3s comes with no documentation whatsoever, but you should be able to figure it out in 15 or 20 minutes.

On the whole, I recommend this product. Just be willing to take an hour or two to figure everything out.

Summary: Excellent Service
Review: I recently purchased this item for my son for Christmas, anyway he loved it! Then something got damaged by one of my younger children and I needed to replace a part. I wasn't sure what to get and I e-mailed technical support and within 24hrs. over the holiday they told me what to purchase and how.

I thought that was great!

Thanks!
