Summary: Awful Product Awful Support
Review: My third ipod in less than a year just broke. I have never had so much problems with a consumer electronic item.

First it was a battery that lasted less than an hour. It would show ¾ charged and then turn off. The ipod they sent me had a screen too dim to read. Now this ipod, less than two months of little use, has a folder with a exclamation point. 3 in one year? A coincidnce or shoddy product?

Their website is designed assuming you just need to be told to turn off the hold switch. To get any real support you have to go to their discussion board which has lots of angry people not getting much help. (if you are even considering buying an Ipod go to this site!)

If you self determine that you have to send it in you are sent to another place where you have to type in your serial number. (Which is less than 3 point in size. I have to find a magnifying glass to read it!) Each time I did it it came back and says there is no serial number on file. I then had to find the phone number to call (which is not on their support site) They ask me the serial number & add it to the data base and tell me to wait two hours to type it in again.

When I expressed concern that they were just senidng me back to something that was very broken they were quite rude and told me if I am willing to pay them additional money they will take the repair order over the phone. ???!!!!!

HOW IS THIS PRODUCT RANKED ABOVE TRASH BY ANYONE?????? HOW CAN THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS SUPPORT????

I swear if any other company treated their customer like this they would be out of business immediately.

Do not put yourself through this. Buy any other MP3 player on the market

Summary: Great Toy
Review: Great toy, easy to use and skip free - transfer's music fast and sounds great -

Loses a star - you will scratch the case taking it out of the box, breathing on it or near it or touching it. Be prepared to spend $100 on accessories right away.

Summary: Shameful waste of $300+
Review: My Dell DJ had a problem which customer service wasn't exactly jumping to help me with, so I thought I'd get the hottest mp3 toy on the market to replace it. Now, my DJ had a battery life of 3+ days (I was going on a trip and tried to run down the battery so I could charge it and left it playing for more than 3 days without losing it) so I expected nothing less than that for my iPod. Later I heard the battery life was only 8 hours, but I was OK with that since I was so excited about it. Not only is this thing 100$ more than a Dell DJ for a 15 MB (versus Dell's 20 MB), but that's not even counting countless NECESSARY accessories (jam jacket if you don't want it to be scratched by simply shifting hands, USB cord if you're part of the majority that DOESN'T own a mac, etc). Expenses aside, I was still eager to have it. I charged it for four hours to get a battery life of about 3 (and if memory serves, I'm being generous here.) I had a lot of trouble loading music on since there was a problem with iTunes or something, and it took me ages to fix it. When I finally STARTED listening to it, I found that you can't add only one song to a playlist - once you select a song it adds your entire collection from that artist on. And if you scroll through the Songs menu and select a song from there, it adds every song in your iPod to your playlist. Basically, the only way to customise your playlist is through connecting it to the iTunes. Ever since the purchase, I have a battery life of 2.5 hours on this thing. If you want a good Mp3 player with an unreal battery life, that is maybe not as pretty as the iPod but more practical in every way, DEFINITELY go with the Dell Jukebox. Save money, time, and patience.

Summary: Five-Star Apple Product. Period.
Review: I'll begin with this: iPod doesn't need any Mac fanboys, it's good enough to stand on its on two-er-earbuds.

Having the chance to carry around ALL of your music collection ALL of the time is a dream come true, even though I've never been a huge music fan. Until now, that is. The form factor is small and the product is a remarkable feat of engineering. The jog wheel is used for scrolling, and its inherent coolness never wears off. The interface is simple to use, and it is easy to store information or data files from your computer on the iPod as well, making it an additional 15 GB hard drive if you will.

Speaking of the computer, my iPod works quite well with Apple's free iTunes software, and Firewire keeps the speeds of transferring files to an absolute minimumu. MP3 or AAC or WMA converted through iTunes will all play on the iPod. Connection to the iTunes Store for more music is equally simple, via PC or Mac.

The real selling point for the little white jukebox is its size (go jogging with it or whatever, the buffer won't let it skip, despite not being Flash-based), both in actually dimensions and in storage space. Think 3700 songs in a portable stereo.

And battery life? Glad you asked. The non-removable lithium battery is easy to recharge (it can do so via a computer Firewire port while you play it, transfer files, or look for more music; or by using the included AC adapter), and lasts for up to 8 hours. This is more like 6 if you just do a normal hour-long charge, but since you really never have to stop listening to it, I don't hold it against the iPod.

The software on the iPod is somewhat worthless. I don't bother much with the calender or To-Do list, since you have to do all of them on a computer and then transfer--you're better off with a PDA for that sort of thing. The games are a nice diversion, but only Solitaire is really worth much in fun-value. But for its main purpose: music playing, there is no product as good.

One note-it is not indestructible. The back is easy to scratch, and I don't want to try dropping the device on a solid surface. Invest in a case, and you won't be sorry. I promise.

In short, even if you aren't much on music now, you will adore your new iPod.

Summary: The Next Generation of Music
Review: The IPod is the best thing to ever go on the market. With the ability to store over 1,000 songs, you can fit all your favorites through the years. Another helpful part of the IPod is that it is free to transfer your CDs onto the device, so you do not have to worry about scratched and broken CDs. I only got mine a month ago, and I fell in love with it instantly. With its small structure and skip free music, the IPod has no where to go but up

Summary: Too many small issues to put up with
Review: This is the 3rd MP3 I own, and if it weren't for the large memory capacity I would rank it the worst I've had.
1 - The touch controls are annoying and unnecessary;
2 - I was suprised to find out that about a third of my songs would not play since iPod does not recognize the WMA format (SO BE WARNED);
3 - The owner's manual is very broad and general and you need to go online to iTunes to get more specific info;
4 - Attachments are very expensive and are not included in most packages;
5 - Sound quality is pretty good.

Summary: iPod saves lives
Review: I love my iPod. Can't say enough about it. Spending a minimum of three hours a day in my car through grid-locked traffic, this device has been a life saver. My only initial complaint was that iTunes wasn't able to read my Windows Media Player files, but they have since fixed that in the most recent version. I chose to install a fire-wire port in my PC instead of buying an adapter, but it was well worth it. I also purchased an FM transmittor from Griffin technology and I enjoy my entire music collection at my finger-tips.

Summary: The Best Mp3 Player Period.
Review: Apple has out done themselves with the new 3rd generation 15gb iPod. Not only does it still have incredible clearity and the ease of use of the earlier versions of iPod, But it now has smaller more compact design, backlight for easier reading in low light conditions and best of all it works seamlessly with its music downloading counterpart iTunes. I own this product and wouldn't trade for any other mp3 player on the market. I highly reccomend!

Summary: Not Perfect, But the Best Out There
Review: Compare the iPod to any other portable mp3 player in its class (meaning the price and storage capacity). The iPod beats them all in the areas of:
1 Durability (hard drive harder to ruin than on other players)
2 Ease-of-use (intuitive interface)
3 Aesthetic appeal
4 Highest quality audio output (great equalizers)
5 High Quality backlight
6 Useful palm-like organizer (but could be better)
7 Built-in compatibility with iTunes, audible.com, and other audio services

Unfortunately, the battery life could be better. I also have a complaint about the syncability of the iPod with multiple computers. The ease-of-use is also a downside, as the iPod does so much for you, if you do something unexpected, like sync with two computers, the results can tend to be unpredictable.

Nevertheless, the quality of the sound (it seems like you can get a louder output on the iPod than other players, which may contribute to the shorter, but acceptable, battery life) is better than other players. The size and ergonomics are the best. The price is a little higher, but justifiable considering the benefits.

Finally, my recommendation is to understand the player's downfalls before you purchase. Realize that this is a hard drive and even though it is better at standing up to a beating than others do not shake it vigorously, throw it, drop it, or put it in water. Just like any piece of electronics, especially those with precisely moving parts, it will break. I do not normally advocate buying a warranty, but in this case BUY THE LONGEST WARRANTY YOU CAN. If you use your iPod or any other similar player, the chances of you dropping it or it breaking from normal wear-and-tear are high. The warranty will be cheaper than replacing the unit. With all of those warnings etched upon your mind, go ahead and make the purchase. It will drastically increase the personal value of your music collection by making it more useful than ever to you. You will not regret this purchase.

Summary: iPods: It's Plusses and Minuses
Review: Here are the reasons why you should buy an iPod:
1. It is compact, you can take your ENTIRE CD collection with you. The iPod slips very easily in your pocket and is pretty light.
2. It is extremely easy to use. Plug it in and it automaticcally all the songs from your computer (iTunes) to your iPod. Very very fast connection and updating. It only takes about 4 seconds to update an average sized album. Amazing huh?
3. It's very very convenient. One thing I really about the iPod is that you can create playlists so your songs can play in a particular order. You can make as many playlists as you like and it'll take like 10 seconds. If you want to burn the songs into a portable CD player, it'll take a good 20 minutes, AND you get worse music quality. You can change your playlists as many times and you want.
4. It's got a lot of other features on it. The games are really fun. You can also put notes, calendar, and contacts on it.
5. The sound is really good. You get equalizer and you can adjust to maximize the quality of music depending on the genre.
6. The design ROCKS!

Some not so great points about the iPod:
1. It scratches very easily and unless you don't mind that, you're gonna have to buy some kind of case for it, which will make it slightly bigger (but some will make it more fashionable).
2. The battery really doesn't last that well compared to some other mp3 players out there. To get the most out of your iPod battery, do not fully discharge it before you recharge it. (There's no memory effect.)Supposedly it lasts 18 months if you listen to 6 hours of music a day. (Still not that bad!)
3. The price is pretty up there... But say, you use it everyday for the next 1.5 years, the iPod costs 75 cents a day. (Referring to the 20GB version). And chances are you ARE gonna use it for more that 1.5 years.

Some final words:
Go for it, you really won't regret the purchase. The iPod is a timeless thing. The iPod really opened my eyes to music. I now listen to a wider variety of music. With iTunes, purchasing songs you like can never be easier. Once again, GO FOR IT!! NO REGRETS!!
