Summary: Almost perfect.
Review: I received my iPod just a few weeks ago, though I have been wanting to purchase one for months. I'm glad I held out, as the price has dropped drastically over the past year. Plus I got an education discount.

The iPod itself is beautiful. This model comes with a carrying case, which I highly recommend using, as the surface of the iPod can be easily scratched. I also highly recommend getting your name engraved on the back. It's not much money for so much security. Let's face it, this product doesn't come cheap. The buttons are really easy to use, but I find the scroll wheel to be a bit too sensitive. It's hard to jump down just one menu line, it usually does two or three at the lightest touch. Once you get to the line you want, though, the system is very easy to use.

The new dock is great, but I do have a problem with the connection to the computer. The iPod charges directly through the FireWire port, which is really convenient, but not if the computer is sleeping. I guess this is fine if you have a desktop computer, but if you have a laptop, which sleeps every time I close the screen, the iPod is no longer charging. Another problem is that every time the computer wakes up from sleep, the iPod tries to update itself. It won't work, so I have to take the iPod out of the dock and put it back in, or it will flash "Do not disconnect" at me. I wish the update feature were more like a handheld computer, with a sync button on the dock. All these imperfections are really just little things, but the wired remote for the headphones is truly just a bad design. I'm always skipping a song when I try to attach it to something.

The iPod has changed my life, silly as that may sound. I no longer have to deal with searching for a radio station to play a song that I only kinda like. (I connect the iPod to my tape deck.) I can listen to upbeat music at the gym, mellow music at home, and I never have to change disks or worry about skipping. Every song I own fits in my hand, it's truly amazing. I have not yet used the phone and date book features, mainly because I don't like iCal. Once I do, though, my purse will be much lighter because not only will I have to lug a stack of CDs around, I won't need my Palm anymore either. (Which is too bad, because I spent a lot of money on that, too).

I consider this purchase an investment, because I know this iPod will serve me for years to come. I wish I could give it five stars, and I'm sure the dock and remote will receive a makeover in the near future, but it is still an amazing product.

Review: Plain and simple-I own this player and its lame compared to the new Samsung Napster player.
Go to a Best buy and compare them side by side.

Review: Usually I never post reviews but for the ipod, i will!!!

I bought the 10GB which I am returning the amazon right now. Reason im returning is because I love it so much, i am going to buy the 20GB hehe

It took me about 15 minutes before i was able to play songs on my ipod - didn't read the manual ofcourse, and after like 30 minutes i mastered it!!

If you're good at computers and stuff, the software part is not hard at all, its very easy. If you're not, it'll take you some time to learn musicmatch, but dont worry because theres a great tutorial in the musicmatch program!

Which one you should buy?
I recommend the 20GB. Reason is that the 10GB does NOT come with case, remote, and dock. These 3 accessories is about $50 extra. The 20GB has these 3 items included so it would be best if you pay like $70 more and get the 20GB with those accessories.

Any negitive stuff about Ipod?
- Too bad Microsoft didn't think about this idea, because I would pick Microsoft anyday over Apple.
- 10GB, again theres no dock, remote or case which sucks since I paid so much money.

Thats about it, hrm I bought a firewire pci card for $10 and installed it - Plug and Play. Then i transfered all my kazaa downloaded songs (about 100) to the ipod, the songs took about 20 seconds for the most which is crazy-fast!!

If you're looking to buy an Ipod, i recommend buying it, and buy it from amazon because you its shipped very fast - i ordered it day before yesterday and got it today via UPS!!!

Hope my review helped :)

Summary: Little things mean a lot
Review: I love my iPod and am glad I shelled out the almost $400 for it. I love the ability to use it as a hard drive. I love the transfer speeds and the fact that I have music for any mood in my pocket. Even the headphones are respectable. It would have gotten at least 4 stars if it weren't for one incredibly annoying thing that PC users should be aware of (which unfortunately neither the Amazon description or even Apple's iPod website make clear):
Although the device is FireWire and USB 2.0 compatible, a USB 2.0 adapter is not included with the iPod!! So you receive your great new toy and quickly learn that you can't play with it until you purchase another cable. ARGHH!!!
That's just rude.

Summary: Killer Device
Review: This so far is the ultimate in portable music devices. Actually that title would go to the 40GB model, but the price on it was just out of reach.

1. It runs well. My usual run is between 15-30 minutes over 1 1/2 to 2 1/4 miles, and not a single skip. The dock is handy, but the slip case is clunky (no access to controls, but protects it ok. The earphones are cheap, but who uses the included ones anyway? Note: Buy an armband case, it's light enough to stay and not fall down your arm.

2. iTunes: Synchronization is smooth, but I had a problem setting it up to recognize it **More later. I can drag and drop existing MP3 files into the iTunes screen, and it will automatically copy them to the library. (Burn the library + lists to DVD+RW(s) for back up.) I can alter the individual song properties, including the volume and equalizer settings. This is helpful for those songs in which play too "light" because of how they were ripped.

3. No moving parts. The touch controls are awesome and once you get used to them, intuitive.

4. Browse by album name, artist, genre, song, etc. Me, when I want to listen to Little Texas, I can navigate artist and scroll down quickly using the touch control (fast clockwise motions around the pad). Play set playlists too, like running music.

** I had a problem sychronizing this with my computer at first. I suspected a Plug and Pray registry problem, which seems to be similar to what some Windows users have talked about. I changed drive letters to one that had not been used before, like T:, and then restored the iPod to factory settings. I've used a lot of different devices on this computer, and they often reuse the same drive letters (memory cards, cameras, etc). It worked ok then. I suspect Windows did a number on the iPod when it was first connected, and the system had a hard time recognizing it.

Summary: You can't go wrong
Review: Apple's iPod is the best thing since sliced bread. No longer will you have to carry 30 CDs with you in the car or on vacation. All your CDs (and plenty more) will fit comfortably on an iPod. Not only does it hold thousands of songs, but it also stores your contacts, calendars (Mac only), and notes for easy viewing. It also has a few games--such as solitare--to keep you entertained on the road. This truly one-of-a-kind companion will go with you every time you leave the house, and every time you don't leave it.
With Belkin's new accesories, you can import photos from your digital camara via memory cards. No more running out of picture space, or lugging that laptop around on photo-worthy trips. The new microphone accessory blends in nicely on the top of your iPod, and allows you to record personal notes, and doubles as a mini-speaker.
iTunes is now available for Windows, making purchasing music for your 'Pod and syncing easier than ever. If you feel the need to suffer buyer's remorse, this is not the product for you. It will change the way you listen to music, and that is a fact. So what are you waiting for? Buy an iPod and your ears will thank you later.

Summary: Incredibly easy to use. Take all your songs with you.
Review: I have had only limited experience with mpg players, but I have to say that the iPod is scarily easy to use; uploading songs and playing songs is a snap. Within 5 minutes out of the box, I was playing songs and playing with its many features.

The 20 GB model comes with the docking cradle which is very handy as it keeps your iPod safely positioned on your desk. The included firewire cable attaches either to its wall socket for charging or to your mac's firewire port for charging and song transfer.

Scrolling through the features is a snap with its touch sensitive controls. The iPod looks Star Trek snazzy at night with its red hued backlight.

You can sort songs by playlist, title, composer, artist, or album. The shuffle play feature shuffles songs with preference to songs you rate higher in the 5 star rating system.

With optional FM transmitter you can take your iPod into your car and listen to songs on your car's FM radio.

Overall this snazzy sharp looking player is fun to look at, has great sound, and won't keep you guessing on how to work it.

Summary: iFlexibility...
Review: Extremely fast boot-up, fast song searching, works with multiple o/s (also works in linux I've read), line out in connector dock for home receiver hookup, battery is replaceble (www.techtv.com offers some tips)<>

my iPod's now part of my home stereo system. took about 31mins (15.3Gb @ 9.21MBs) to transfer both mp3 and wav files. one push of button and the unit is on. no delays. formatted ipod in ntfs. big mistake! i didn't realize ipod or mac can't read ntfs and now i know. But i was able to restore the ipod back to its original settings which also took care of reformatting the hdd back to fat32. Kinda subjective but I do like the menus and buttons are simple and not cluttered and intuitive and also no apple (or any logo) markings in front.

The downside is it has expensive optional accessories, no info on Signal-to-noise ratio, no 800Mbps fireWire support, and no ntfs support.

Summary: Tweaked performance
Review: I wish I could say more positive things about this iPod. I was really excited to get it, with an education discount and huge rebate from Apple, for less than half of the list price. Otherwise I never would have considered spending four hundred on something like this.
Anyway, I must have gotten one of the first ones off the assembly line, and it worked okay for a day. Then it crashed. I had to download the OS and reformat the iPod, which, of course, deleted all the files on the HD. Not a big deal except that I live in Mexico and all my files were transferred from a computer in the US the day before!
It worked alright for about 3 more days but now refuses to turn on. It has nothing to do with the hold switch. When I plug it in to charge, the screen acts funny. It will function and play music as long as it's plugged in. When I unplug it, it says the battery needs to be charged, regardless of how long it has already been charging. The LCD screen has traces on it already, although I've probably used the thing for a total of 4 hours. I don't know what the deal is. It shows the battery charging icon, but apparently there is something wrong with the hardware. I'm totally disappointed since I am in a foreign country and getting back to the Apple Store will be next to impossible.

I had an Archos jukebox for awhile, which is also a totally unreliable piece of junk but at half the price, and with better featurs than the iPod. Apple is really good with aesthetics but so far I'm not convinced that their hardware is much better than the rest. By the way, I absolutely hate Apple desktops--the keyboard, the mouse, the unit itself. Talk about cute and unusable! Now I feel the same about my iPod. Hopefully they will prove me wrong when I finally take it back.

Summary: I've dropped my ipod ...
Review: I've had my ipod since January 2003. It has hit the ground countless times in the past eight months. One time it flew out of my hand and landed on the pavement hard, skidded 10 feet and still works perfectly. C.D. players and tape players do not survive this kind of abuse. In fact they usually break after one fall.
