Summary: Something wrong with this mp3-cd player...
Review: I burnt a cdr with a bunch of mp3 in it. It displays the song that it is playing but it won't play. Then I tried to burn a cdrw with a bunch of mp3's and it won't even read it. Also, I noticed that a line within the lcd that is missing. So I returned it for another one today and see how it goes.

Assuming that the unit works, I am happy with it. The unit has a remote, nice earphones, very compact, sleek and price is reasonable.

Summary: [bad]
Review: I got this thing for it's ability to play mp3's, audio cd's, and the reasonable price. Well it plays audio cd's fine. It's the MP3 that won't work. Yeah, somehow I got 2 mp3's to play from a disk of 100 or so, but I have no clue how that miracle happened. Oh, and the hyped skip protection is nonexistant as is support for it on the creative support page. I have never bought a product that I felt so strongly against. I can't believe that this product made it out the doors of creative labs. It will be a miracle if I ever buy one of their products again. I only rated it a one because there was not a none. In essense this thing is pure [junk].

Summary: Awful product, dreadful support
Review: I had trouble with this player immediately after buying it. It would not play the WMA's and MP3's properly. When I reported the problem, the tech people said to burn the files on separate CD's. So, I had to go through my music files and make separate CD's for each format. Then about two months later, the player quit working altogether and would only show a "Low Battery" message on the screen. When I told Tech Support about this, they said to send it back to them for evaluation. It was out of the ridiculously short 90-day warranty period, but I was told that the original problem was one that should have been and could have been repaired by Tech Support. Their only solution to the "Low Battery" problem was for me to buy a new player. The Customer Service Department was appallingly disorganized, with no one representative handling the service. Each time I contacted them, another person would get involved, and I would need to repeat everything that had been done to that point with the new person. Each day, even though I was calling to speak with people in the support department, I would receive phone messages from them telling me that I needed to call to discuss the problem concerning the player, and I finally received a letter saying that they were planning to dispose of my player if I didn't contact them within 5 days. In the end, I just told them to forget it and send it back to me. They did not stand behind their product and were even very rude when talking with me. Besides all of these problems, the rebate that was offered was a hassle to get. By the time I finally received the rebate, the player had quit working for good.

Summary: works great
Review: I have had no problems making WMA music file-based CD's for this CD player. I use cheap CD-R's and CD Creator software and everything works fine. I like this player a lot: the player is light and operates quietly. The backlit display is small but readable and all of the buttons are easy to find and work as one would expect. I don't know how it works with MP3 files but with WMA's it is great. The one thing that makes this player odd is that it scans an entire song into its internal memory to reduce skipping. This works fine, but if you are the kind of person who likes to skip around the tracks constantly, then you will get pauses while a song loads into memory. I just use the "random track play" feature myself. Finally, the sound quality is very very good as portable WMA players go.

Summary: Love It !!!!!!
Review: I was looking to buy a RioVolt cd/mp3 player because Creative Labs had only jukeboxes untill last month. When I saw this player in the market I just grabbed it 'coz I was confident about getting a good sound quality in this brand [Creative Labs makes audio and video cards]. The sound quality is really good when I connect it to my music system and my car.

PROS

plays wmas, mp3s, apart from regular music cds; backlighting; 8 min anti-skip/shock feature [virtually skip-free MP3 CD and audio CD playback]; plays recordables and re-writes.

Crystal clear Signal-to-Noise Ratio [greater than 85dB] . You can queue your MP3 directories and songs with the smart Program function. 6 Equalizer presets, can see the scrolling artist and song displayed as you listen. It also reads joliet file formats (some mp3-cd players make you change the format to ISO 8.3 format).

I feel these features along with a good sound quality is more than enough to listen to songs while you jog or travel.

CONS

The batteries supplied can be rechargeable ones. A good pair of headphones could be supplied instead of the earphones...BR>Needs option for remote w/LCD, current remote needs more functionality.

Would have been nice if it came with a dc power adaptor. Other than that this is a great buy!

Summary: Excellent Cd-Mp3 player!
Review: Pros:Excellent sound quality, great design, sturdy, great price, works great.

Cons: No lcd on remote, Does not save settings stuff like turning of the lcd backlight on and off and your equalizer setting.

Verdict: If you want a mp3-cd player that is sturdy, sleek and has lotsof functionality this is for you. BUY IT!

Summary: A little advice for this bad player.
Review: This is my continued comments on this player. After playing long enough with this player with lots of pain, I finally figured out another fact: this player can not handle MP3 files recorded with higher speed, like over 10x. It works best with file written under 4x. The higher the buring speed, the worse the player behaves, it will not be able to read the files burned using speed 16x and above. That's probably why it just spins endlessly and could not work. So if you want to burn your own CDR, you'd better burn it at low speed, othwewise you are looking for trouble......

Summary: Don't BUY
Review: This is not a good cd player. When playing MP3 cd's the player will skip several seconds of the song even if it was just stitting on the table. The sound is not very good either. I ordered a second one and it had the same problem.

Review: this player is very responsive to what types of CD you use and how you burned your CD.

I tried it out on a bad CD and got horrible results. Now, with a properly burned CD, it works out pretty good.

There's also a...rebate on this if you go to creative's web site and look it up.
