Summary: A quality product
Review: Before I purchased the Optio 330GS I had tried using an early Kodak digital model. It had no zoom, limited functions and drained batteries.

In comparison, this camera is a gem. It has everything the novice photographer could ever need: 3 x digital zoom, several picture modes (including self portrait and 'snow and surf' modes), movie function (upto 30 seconds) and a good autofocus. Furthermore it is easy to use and the software provided is fast and efficient. The LCD screen is clear and is still visible in bright light outdoors.

It is important that if you buy this camera, you also buy a 128mb or 256mb Compact flash card. This allows you to take as many photos as you need. Some critics have also complained that it chews AA batteries. This is true. If you use normal AA alkaline batteries - it will use them up very quickly. However, if you buy some rechargeable NIMH AA's, then they should last for as long as you need. And as they are rechargeable you don't have to keep forking out.

I use this camera mainly to take pictures of surfing (and the ocean) and it functions very well for this purpose. It is also great for taking everyday pictures of your friends and family, as well as self portraits - thus eliminating the need to hand your camera over to a stranger when there is no-one around to take your photo. Good value for money and a quality product.

Summary: Great little camera
Review: I absolutely love this camera. I purchased the camera in December and have been impressed with the results. It is easy to use and I just love all the features that it offers, especially the 3D mode. I found the night shooting mode gave great results, although you must be careful to keep the camera still, allowing for the longer exposure. I download the photos into iphoto (which also is great) so am not familiar with the software that comes with the optio 330 gs. Overall this camera is great for the novice because of its simplicity, but also has a lot to offer the more creative photographer as well. My SLR has been a little neglected of late!

Summary: Enjoying this camera.
Review: I bought this camera about two weeks ago and am thoroughly enjoying it. My only complaint is that it doesn't have quite as many manual features as I would like (I have been using an SLR). Overall it seems to be a good little camera, but you will probably need to get another CompactFlash card before you do any serious photography as the one that comes with it only holds about 9 photos at highest quality. The quality of the pictures is great!

Summary: Excellent digital Camera
Review: I know Pentax is one of the best cameras, this time they made it, it's perfect, so easy to operate, it takes so clearly the pictures, I just love it. Just buy a Big Compact Flash and enjoy the show!!!

Summary: Pentax 330GS
Review: The camera is great to use and has a lot of neat features quick capture, flip out display, one step review, small size avi viedeo. It would be better if it could record sound with the video.

I would have given it a 5 star rating except for dissappointng performance using 2 AA batteries. The CR V3 lithium battery is not rechargable and very expensive, however does last a long time. The instruction book says that you can use normal alkaline AA and get about 50 shots (acceptable) but I found that I could only get 2 or 3 (unacceptable) before I started to get "battery depleted" warning. Forget trying to use normal AA batteries.

Note that the 330 RS comes with rechargeable Lithion Ion batteries, in hind sight it would have been worth the extra bucks.

I brought the camera in Hong Kong

Review: This a great little pocket rocket camera. Takes compact flash, uses AA rechargable Nimh batteries and has a 3X fast optical zoom. The Nimh's are the way to go-get the 1800mAh capacity and they will last longer than you think. The lens looks like it's the same as the one on the new nikon 3100. Amazon.com had it on sale...shipped-a screamin deal!

Summary: Love this camera!!!
Review: This is my first digital camera, I bought it in December, after researching cameras for several months. I had narrowed my search down to a couple of Sony's and a Kodak, but bought this one after a long talk with a knowlegdable sales clerk. And I have not regretted my decision!! I love the compact size of the camera, and that I could take it out of the box and start using it immediately as a simple point and shoot camera, while reading up on all the extra features, and slowly trying out several of them. Love the night shooting mode, took some great night time photos of Christmas decorated houses, just make sure you use a tripod, otherwise the pictures will come out blurry. I have also used the setting for bright beach or snow mode, pics came out great. I have even taken pics of birds feeding at our feeder, through my dining room window, using 'manual focus'. Neat. Bottom line is a love my camera 100% percent.

Summary: Good Stuff
Review: This was my first digital camera purchase. I have approximately 10 years of 35mm SLR photo experience so I was looking for a camera that had some manual features and would function well taking night photos. Picture quality is excellent so far, as I haven't had the camera for very long (this is also the only reason I was hesitant to choose 5 stars).

Using the auto-focus will take some adjustment. The shutter button must be pressed halfway (you will feel resistance to know how far) for the camera to focus on the subject. Once the focus is set you can take the picture. The delay between pressing the button and getting the focus isn't very long, but this is my first auto-focusing camera.

The 180 degree swing-out screen wasn't a feature I was shopping for, but am definitely glad it has. The release mechanism is a little flimsy, but there's plenty of tension in the hinge to keep the screen from swinging wildly.

All in all this camera rocks my brown-eye.
