Summary: Great Service from HK - my ear was too picky though
Review: I actually ordered one a few months ago for about $$$ bucks as B stock from the Harman Kardon site. Prompt shipping. Tried to break it in for a few days, but unfortunately the unit sounded very hissy to me. For somebody who wants to fill a house with big bass though (PLEASE don't annoy neighbors in an apartment building with rocking the walls!) this may be ok. This receiver is very powerful, easy to use, and has a punch, but is not audiophile grade in the midrange and treble. It almost seemed to produce ghost images in the sound, akin to a fuzzy TV picture. To be fair though, maybe that is why the one I had ended up in the cheap B stock bin?? HK was very nice, gave me a paid shipping authorization, and refunded quickly. Listen to it in store before buying. Just because my spoiled ears didn't like it, doesn't mean you won't like it.

Summary: 3370???? keep lookin
Review: i just recently bought the hk 3370 model reciever. even though more expensive then the previous one i had, a pioneer reciever with higher wattage, it didn't sound as powerful and the clarity was marginal. it does not have many options and it is built in korea; where as the more expensive hks are built else where. furthermore just months after i bought my 3370, it quit working. it still turns on however no sound is output anymore. ive checked for a fuse insert and if there is actually one it must be internal because ive never found it. i do recommend "hk" products and have had past experience with them before, i just wouldnt recommend this one. go for the "avr" series and not the "hk" ones. (there is a price difference but remember this is in fact the cheapest reciever hk offers.)

Summary: Harman/Kardon is topnotch and their receivers prove it...
Review: I owned a Harman/Kardon home stereo system for 5+ years and it's given me great performance. I believe their receivers are some of the best on the market (must be the 'high current amplifier design'). When I had to replace the CD changer due to a burnt-out & irreplaceable remote sensor, I decided to upgrade the whole system. I almost went with one of the AVR series of Harman/Kardon receivers, digitally designed for home theater systems. But if you're like me, you buy a home stereo to listen to great MUSIC, not heartstopping explosion SOUND EFFECTS on the soundtrack to some hokey Hollywood action/adventure flick in surround-sound (Whoop dee doo...) I decided instead to go for one of their oldfashioned stereo two-channel receivers (when I grow three more ears I'll think about getting a five-speaker surround-sound setup). This is the lesser (in terms of wattage output) of their two stereo models, ideal for my one-room studio apartment. Wow! The sound is even brighter & clearer (more presence) than on my older HK receiver (using FM stereo broadcasts as a basis for comparison). And lots of attractive added features, like PHONO inputs, SUBWOOFER line outputs, jacks for TWO tape decks plus auxiliary, versatile FM-programming preset functions, sleep timer, and a beautiful illuminated front-panel display and control layout. This unit is a beauty. One thing worth mentioning: my older HK receiver was rated at 40 watts per channel and was WAY louder than this unit which is paradoxically rated at 70 watts per channel. I live in a tiny apartment so I don't need earsplitting volume, but don't be fooled by numbers...

Summary: not bad
Review: I've got my hk3370 for 2years, what i can say about it it's just great. some of reviewers have objections on sound quality, it is a metter of taste, but i find it nearly perfect. I have following system: HK 3370 reciver; harman/kardon DVD 25; Infinity alpha 50 (i use be-wiring); powered subwoofer 12" JBL.(room 40 m2)
some of my friends have a good audio systems like BOSE lifestyle 12; B & O;Nakamichi. i can say proudly that my system's sound quality is not the last.(as to the bass, it beats them)
may be the reason is that all my equipment are from one HARMAN family and are very very very well matched. in short, I am setisfide with my HK .

happy listening

Summary: Almost There
Review: The price was good and external design was perfect. I thought to myself then:" Well this thing should definitely make a good sound. And it did,...actually for a few days.
Haraman Kardon HK3370 is the best amp you can find in stores like Circuit City or Best Buy or even in Comp USA if you are lucky enough.
So, back to my listening experience with HK. I had two Polk Audio R30 plugged into the supper nice HK output portals and start listening to some smooth jazz.
Initially all the musicians with their saxes and trumpets were on their places giving me the amazing impression of what they really wanted to perform. "Impression", not the real wave movement and sound. That was actually a starting point for keep looking for something else, whatever but HK.
In couple of days I firmly decided to return this product to the store and , as time shows, it was a good step forward to the real music.
I found the phone number of Hi-Fi store in our city and drove there anticipating the stuff they could possibly have.
The demonstration room was equipped with NAD C350 and pair of Acoustic Energy Evo One. That was amazing! There were no words to describe that clear and real sound with different kinds of details.
Now I'm enjoying my NAD and AUGIES for ... (amp and speakers).
Just remember: this is nothing but Hi-Fi choice and whole thing only for ...
As far as Harman Kardon HK3370 as concerned , well, this amp falls into the category "..almost there..", but it has never be there.

So, guys, it's up to you now!

Summary: Fantastic quality at a great price
Review: This is a great receiver, with impressive specs, minus the bells and whistles. I love the simple, straight forward design-it looks great and will bring out the best in your speakers.

Harman Kardan knows what they are doing-wattage is fine, but the amps help the power of the sound. I look for 20-20,000khz response as far as sound goes-get that resonant bass response, clear highs, nice midtones. You have to look and read the specs to find that-with all the overpriced brands out there (most don't match these specs), look no further-it's right here.

I read about a few of the Harman Kardans at Amazon and ordered this one, because it has everything I need. It is a replacement for my 24 year old amp that could probably be repaired, but I decided to update (it upgraded, really) my system.

This has your basic balance, treble and bass controls, and stereo or mono for FM-so if you want to equalize, you have to add that separate. My first amplifier had buttons and toggle switches to help that out-but this receiver sounds great without that.

You can add a subwoofer and/or a second pair of speakers, there's the headphone jack, and, for all of us from the vinyl era, TURNTABLE JACKS, besides a CD player and/ or tape deck. I have a pair of Bose 301s that sound really nice-a great match. At 95 watts per channel stereo, you can fill your house with some great music-a powerful receiver. If you are looking for a really nice unit for your Bose, JBLs, Klipsh, whatever-this is a great choice. The remote is fine-easy to use capable of 30 radio station presets.

Incidently, a friend gave me a pair of speakers-some small Fishers-bookshelf size-never heard them before-rated 40 watts, 80 watts max., 60-20,000khz. I hooked these up to the HK to see that they worked and was really impressed at the sound from these speakers. Buy with confidence!
