Summary: YES, you can use a tripod with it.
Review: I swear, I couldn't find that info anywhere before I purchased this camera, including Canon's website. It does have one though - screw in type. I've found this little camera to be a catalyst from taking "snapshots" to taking really great family pictures. If you've read Nick Kelsh's book on photographing babies, this camera has everything you need to make them great. Love it so much, I'm buying another one for a friend. And if you have a little one in the house or know someone who does, this would make a great companion gift with Nick Kelsh's book too. Maybe a shower gift from everybody at work??? You won't be sorry!

Summary: Excellent pictures, excellent durability
Review: I've had my canon sureshot zoom camera for 4 years. I've been 100% pleased with my camera. I'm always complimented on the quality of pictures my camera takes. I've never had problems with it and I'm buying one for a friend who loves my camera.

Summary: Simply Terrific
Review: If you are looking for an inexpensive camera that takes excellent, versatile photos and is very easy to use, I have not seen a better one. I have been a semi-professional photographer since the late-60's but refuse to carry expensive gear on vacations or weekend trips. The Canon slips into my front pocket; is unobtrusive; and, is sufficiently rugged to endure most environments. The photo quality is very good and the zoom is quick and efficient. Since most of my travel is in Asia where expensive items tend to vanish on occasion, my only concern using this camera is safeguarding the exposed film. The camera, at this price, can easily be replaced. This is a good product. It should serve you well.

Summary: well done, but doesn't have the battery saving auto off
Review: Its a wonderful camera with all the nice features. I really liked it. I have used it on a trip to Niagara Falls and the photos came out fantastic even in low light. My only negative about this is that it doesn't have the auto shutoff feature.

Summary: Canon Sure Shot 85 Platinum
Review: Love the camera, but it was very disappointing to give it as a Christmas gift and discover that it doesn't have the date stamp! I made a wrong assumption that all new camera's came with this feature. The person I bought if for, definitely wanted this on a camera so now I have to send it back and purchase a different one.

Summary: Good but...
Review: The camera is great. Cheap, light, sturdy and decent quality snapshots. The only drawback is, as another reviewer already mentioned, that it's sometimes tough to find the "DX" coded film that the camera requires. For me, an inexpensive little 35mm camera is supposed to be about convenience; when I have to go to three drug stores to find the film I need, it's decidely inconvenient.

Summary: very disappointed
Review: This camera has been a disappointment from day one. It was hard to load even using DX film. After only two rolls of film, I started getting a flashing "H". The battery was still full although I replaced it anyway. I reloaded film and tried all troubleshooting suggestions. The "H" still appears. Customer service would not help except to tell me to pay for repairs.

Summary: Excellent Photos
Review: This camera is light-weight, it takes excellent photos, its easy to use and is a reasonable price. I first used the Canon Sure Shot 85 Platinum on my vacation to Niagiara Falls, and I got PLATINUM photos in return. The red eye reduction is nice, although the person must look directly at the camera. I would definatley reccomend this product to anyone. Picture taking has never been so much fun!
