Summary: Easy operation, the remote feature proved very valuable.
Review: I bought the Minolta Freedom Zoom 150 kit approximately 5 months ago. I chose the camera based upon the high power zoom, the fact that it comes with a small, belt-attachable case, and the infrared remote.
I have used the camera in all possible lighting situations with excellent picture quality. The first place that I used the camera was at the beach, and I was very pleased with the quality of the photos. I have also used the camera at various indoor functions and the remote is a must have. After trying all flash features, I believe that the autoflash with red eye reduction proves to be the setting I use the most. This mode will allow for excellent flash exposure in most every setting. This mode uses two short flashes to constrict the pupil and a third longer flash that is synonymous with the shutter opening.
The remote is easy to use and I found that I use the remote much more than I originally anticipated. I usually just sit the camera on a stationary object and stand in the picture with my wife while using the remote. I have also found that when I ask someone else to take the picture that instead of going through how to operate the camera, I just have them aim it and I use the remote to open the shutter.
The camera is built on a 5 f-stop system. Others have complained of this, but I find this makes for easier focusing. There is no dioptric correction, but if you have an astigmatic correction, you may find that you do not benefit from this type of feature anyway. To me it seems easier to leave needed spectacle correction on while taking photos anyway.
The remote feature is why I chose this camera over the Olympus 140 or 170. If the remote is not of use to you, and there is concern with the 5 f-stop positions, the better choice may be the Olympus. But I went with the Minolta and have been pleased with my purchase.

Summary: It's not worthy even one star!
Review: I bought this camera as a gift to my mom and since then it became my worst nightmare! It breaks any time it wants, I guess more than thousands times in one year. I sent it back to Minolta's repair facility to get fixed but that didn't work either! I can't believe they can do this to their customer by just telling me"You just have to send it to us again and again till it is fixed"!
Don't buy it unless you hate your self too much!

Summary: Should I be disappointed??? : (
Review: I bought this set thinking that its features should be comparable to the Olympus Stylus Zoom 140 QD CG Camera or Canon Sure Shot Classic 120 Caption Kit. I was very impressed at the size and the kit, but I was surprised at its zoom feature. There are only 5 zoom steps!! Eventhough the zoom range is wide, 37.5 to 150, what good it does when the camera doesn't stop zooming where you want it to stop?!!?? Also, when zooming, the lens will try to adjust itself until it reaches one of the zooming steps. I think this is also a waste of the battery.

I found out later that the Canon has at least 15 zooming steops, which is more than enought (plus it's cheaper.) and the Olympus also has more than 5 zooming steps. I should have made sure that I test the products before I buy them on the web.

I haven't taken any picture yet.. Once I do, I'll let you know.. : )

Summary: Poor flash made a difference
Review: I did all of my homework before I bought this camera, including checking out Consumer Reports, reading Amazon's reviews and talking to people who own the camera.

I actually bought it to use at my best friend's wedding. The small amount of pictures I took outside were great. But the ones inside were so dark, I was so sad to see them. Although the zoom is impressive, the flash isn't. All of the pictures of my new friend and her groom were very dark and fuzzy.

It also seemed like the subjects in the photo were always in the right lower corner of the picture. So possibly the accuracy rate isn't that good.

Needless to say, I returned the camera.

Summary: I was expecting better!
Review: I have a 10 year old Minolta Freedom 90 and love my camera. I decided to get a newer model to have the date function. I went with Minolta because of the great performance that I have had with my current camera. I was disappointed.

I found the stops set on the zoom didn't allow me the freedom to capture exactly what I wanted in the picture without me actually having to move closer or farther away to fine tune the shot.

I also found that if I took pictures with some people standing in front of others in a group shot, those in front were overexposed. The coloring of my photos just wasn't as sharp as I had expected.

Summary: Great Little Camera
Review: I have now owned my Minolta Freedom Zoom Date 150 for almost one year, and I still love it! I have taken many, many rolls of film with this camera (I bought it one month prior to the birth of our first child) and have been very pleased with the camera's perfomance.
First, it is a small camera. At first, I was concerned with it's size but I have found the size to be an advantage because it fits in an already crowded diaper bag, my purse, or even my jacket pocket. In other words, you can take it with you just about anywhere.
Second, the zoom on this camera is nice. For the price I paid, I couldn't believe how far the camera zooms in. I paid much more for my previous camera and the zoom was not as good as the 150. My husband says I zoom in so close I get people's nose hairs, but that isn't my intention!
Third, the picture quality has been sharp on all my photos. Indoor, outdoor, night time...everywhere, my shots have all been crystal clear and sharp. The colors in the photographs are vivid and bright, and very true to real life.
My only complaint is that even with the red eye reduction, I still sometimes get pictures with red eye. But, that could be my fault.
I highly recommend this camera and hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as I do.

Summary: Was I ever impressed!
Review: I have searched for months on the camera that does it all with compact quality. Well, I found it. I have read remarks on this camera about bad performance, this is not true! This camera is outstanding! I believe they have not read thoroughly the manual to learn how to use it properly. My friends and I have all bought 3 of them. We are going on a cruise in October and the features it has is wonderful. We have all taken pix with our camera's and got great ones. And we all studied the manual together. The seude case, remote control and panoroma persueded me to try it. I also called Minolta to find out the manufacture date of February 2000... well worth [the cost]... I believe you get what you pay for.

Summary: nice and compact but bad focus, lighting, and choppy zoom
Review: I returned this product it was so bad. The best part is the size. Minolta had a problem with lighting being off and unfocused pictures that showed that they were focused when taken. fault. When zooming it is very choppy and will stop when and where it wants. It is worth the 10 mm loss to get another brand 140 mm instead, and it will cost about $100.00 less.
