Summary: Great Features
Review: Great camera for professional photographers. It can be an automatic like it fixes the aperature & shutter setting or you can manually set it for maximum efficiency. An all out great camera.

Summary: Bang for the Buck
Review: Great Camera for the money! Feels more substantial and well built than the minolta or canon camera's in the price range. Has similar features. Easy to use for beginners but plenty of room for growth for more experienced photographers. Takes great pictures.

Summary: Pentax has a product to be proud of!!...
Review: I am 14 years old and new to the photographic world. After doing months of research on what I wanted to be my first camera I decided on the Pentax ZX-30 Quartz Date. It was probably one of the best choices I have made. As a beginner I was looking for a camera that was simple to operate, but one that would give me quality pictures and versatility for me to be creative. This camera was my answer. My first roll of film was beautiful. My mother has a home daycare so I immediately started taking pictures of the kids. When I got my first roll of film back I was amazed at the quality of the pictures. They were wonderful. This camera gives you a variety of settings yet it is simple enough that you can have fun without having to deal with confusing dials and knobs. This is the choice for a beginner who wants to take photography seriously. Buy and enjoy!!

Summary: A beginner to Mid range SLR accomplished its job beautifully
Review: I bought the pentax ZX-30 about a year ago, and have used it mostly for camping trips to fuel my eager website viewers. The camera was supposed to be a beginner to mid range slr, and i'll tell you why it is exactly that. I've used all of the available options on the camera (mostly auto) but the ease of use that the pentax claims is 100% true. For the people who are in the market for a camera that will jump start an SLR' type voyage into photography, this camera makes its mark.

Pros:
The auto mode, combining auto flash, auto zoom, and a bunch of other things makes this thing usable right out of the box. Then when you get a bit comfy'er, you can spread your wings as far as you'd like. You can add the flash through the compromising Hot Shoe they provide, seems like a very rugged camera in that it can take a little more abuse than most SLR's. If you're looking at the LCD panel, or just peeking through the viewscreen, you'll never make a mistake because it's telling you whats wrong with the picture with many little icons on and in the camera. Truely user friendly. It works amazing with the telephoto lens i got in a deal with it. It's a 100mm-300mm. Which takes great animal life in the woods that you just can't seem to get close to. Overall ease of use is up there. Dials are ergonomically palced to perfection around the natural spots where your finger tips are. The Lens which comes with it is easy to manipulate to create different effects.

Cons:
The batteries are the "3V Lithium Batteries (CR2)" which are quite expensive. I think i got a pack of two for about 25 bucks. And though the batteries last quite long, the camera doesn't have an auto shut off (incase you forget to shut off the power) which kills your batteries if you leave it for say overnight somewhere?! (done it a many times). Using the flash up close and taking pictures up-right (not how the picture shows, but sideways): this gives a horrible effect of a shadow crossing the persons face, and/or the whole picture, this is only pictures up close; using the flash, sideways. So yes we are getting picky.

Overall:
This camera set out to be a perfect camera for beginers to intermediate photographers, with many nice extra's, in an easy to use, affordable camera. Buy it with the extra lens, and you'll be all set. This camera set out to be something it is. It succeeded.

Summary: better than my pz -70
Review: I got this camera for a 2nd autofocus camera. I like it better than my pz-70. By the way Pentax makes the best slrs. I also have 2 Pentax manuel cameras a mx and a mg. I love them too. Its light solid and small for a slr the zx-30 is great!

Summary: Best Camera for it's price out there!
Review: I had decide that it was time in my life to buy a nicer camera than a point-and-shoot camera. I looked around on the internet and went to local stores that sold good quality cameras. I looked at cameras made by Nikon, Cannon, Minolta, Pentax, and Sigma, because i had heard that they were the top brands.

After several days of looking and comparing options and prices I settled on the pentax camera. I chose it because
1. it was reasonably priced
2. How user friendly it was and
3. Because it had extensive options.
Basically everything I wanted out of a camera.

I suggest to you to do the same thing i did. Just look around everywhere and compare all of the options and special features of the cameras. I also recamend that if you do buy an slr camera you should get a polorizing lens cover or even just a plain lens cover, because it is exremely easy to scratch the lens.

Summary: The only camera suited for everyone, best for everything
Review: I have always enjoyed taking pictures, be it for personal use (family pictures), recreation, or school, however I have never really enjoyed the actual pictures once developed. I received this camera one year for Christmas, I was astonished at the picture quality and ease of operation. You don't have to be a genius to take good pictures, this camera makes you feel like you are the best photographer in the world. It is perfect for normal use (vacation pictures...) and for high quality photography. I highly recommend this camera to anyone novice or not.

Summary: Excellent SLR for starters
Review: I have owned this camera for the last 3 yrs. Not a single complaint so far. Most of the time I have used the auto settings even though it has a manual option. Excellent focus even in low light conditions and the focus lock is pretty fast. Yet to have a bad shot except for those occasional out of focus pictures which were mostly because of my fault.

Operation is pretty simple and does not have much frills to worry about. Excellent value for the price
