Summary: Fun starter camera
Review: Although all the gadgets were a little overwhelming at first their instruction manual is very helpful and helped me not only with the camera but a little general photography. It would have been nice to get some batteries with it but if that's the only gripe I've got I'm pretty impressed.

Summary: Great Pictures
Review: Good Camera..very Handy and good styling..get noticed..very where. But now after doing about 10 rolls , feels that Shutter Speed Setting Adjustment should be present, like in Manual Cameras..You wont probably use the LT Mode unless you have bought yourself a Tripod.Good Entry level SLR Camera.Unless you want to go for N65 which cost [money] Mmore.. this camera is good

Summary: Couldnt be more pleased
Review: I bought this camera wanting some control and great zoom with, at least moderate picture quality. What turned me on most was the fact that I didnt have to buy and carry around another lens to get "closer" to the object I wanted to capture. I havent owned many SLR cameras but, I have to say this is easily the best camera I have ever owned. I thought for the price, I would just be getting a mediocre camera with marginal picture quality at best, but I was pleasently mistaken. This camera takes great pictures with incredible detail. If you do not know anything about apurature, and how to generally opperate an SLR camera this is the camera you should seriously look into. It is fully automatic. It will sellect the best settings for the light and focus for you with only a push of a button. If your a control freak, dont worry, you have that option as well. You can sellect a manual setting that will give you total control. The zoom is unbelievable, and the camera is well balanced. For the price, you cant beat it! Ive really enjoyed taking pictures with this camera. Enjoy!

Summary: Great for daytime pictures... not so great at night...
Review: I got this camera about two years ago when I was just getting into photography. Since then, I've taken dozens of landscape pictures, pictures of people, pictures "in motion", and night-time pictures, so hopefully I have a good enough idea of what this camera can do.

First off, my favorite thing about this camera it the auto focus. It really is great, and if you don't get the right focus when it's set on the programmed auto, you can choose between landscape, night-time, action-high speed, & potrait, and you'll find just the right focus. Also, the colors on the prints I get are fantastic. I take a lot of pictures in the fall and in the winter, and all the reds and oranges are vibrant. I've never had a problem with brightness in my pictures, and with other cameras I always have that problem. The different auto modes cut-down on some of the glare from lights.

The only thing I really don't like is the quality I get for the pictures I take at night. The flash doesn't cover as much footage as I would like, & the pictures come out looking a very grainy. It's not a problem with my camera, or the location, or the way I was taking the picture, the technicians I've conferred with inform me that the quality of pictures taken at night with the IS-50 just aren't up to par with the pictures you get in well light areas. The flash doesn't help much as far as the quality of night time pictures go. It gives SOME light, but not nearly enough, and the "graininess" is very obvious.

Also, the aperture and shutter priority options are okay. I really don't feel that they are at the level of Nikon or Canon manual options.

However, for pictures taken indoors, or where there is adequate light are pretty clear and impressive. In addition, for some reason the shutter speed in auto focus is waaay too slow at night. If you don't stay still for about 3 seconds after taking a picture outdoors at night, your pictures will be VERY unclear, the lights will be fuzzy. Finally, lugging this camera around isn't much fun, it's a bit heavy. But then again... most SLR cameras are. Still, it's all worth it in the end.

However, besides those few short-comings, I really do love this camera. I'm hoping to advance into more sophisticated photography someday, but while I am still an amateur photographer, this camera has served me very well. Take pictures during gorgeous sunny days, or pictures of sunsets, or the morning after a night of snow, and you'll realize why this camera is so great. As long as you're in a well lit area you should have no complaints.

Summary: Auto SLR that has no competition
Review: I have been using this camera for two roles of film and must report complete satisfaction. I rated it 4 stars only due to its weight. At 23 oz. it is a bit heavy, but nothing to prevent me from hanging it on my neck for a few hours. Compared to a Canon Rebel or the Minolta Maxxum 4, I would highly recommend the iS-50. If you are buying an entry level SLR and expect to operate in auto mode most often, the Olympus is perfect. If you want something with more horsepower, expect to use manual or semi auto more often, are going to want additional lenses, then buy a Canon Elan or Maxxum ST. I simply wanted a good 35 mm auto SLR to take high quality pictures. The iS-50 is fit for purpose.

Summary: The Best Camera Ever
Review: I have never owned a camera before this one but I have taken a lot of pictures with other cameras so I know a good camera. I did a lot research when I decided to finally buy my own camera. I chose this one based on it's not complex features. I wanted something that would take up a lot of my time to learn as I am a college student and need that time to study school work not how to work a camera. I got the camera about two weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with the results, these are some of the best pictures that I have ever taken. This is definatly a camera that is for the first time camera owner.

Summary: a superb job!
Review: I just purchased this camera less than a week ago and just had the first roll developed. Very crisp and clean pics. Very user friendly controls on the camera and a perfect camera for a novice. One negative would be the sensitive auto focus button. Press just a bit too quick or hard and no auto focus. But this is something that will take a little time to break in. All and all a good camera

Summary: Excellent Beginner SLR
Review: I recently went on a trip to England, and wanted a camera that was of higher quality. I chose the SLR style because I wanted what I saw in the viewfinder to be what the final product looked like. I chose this camera specifically because it has an integrated zoom lense (up to 120mm) and multiple automatic features. I have found this camera to be excellent in nearly every aspect.

PROS:
1.Fantastic image quality. Olympus lenses seem to be of superior quality to some other major brands I've tried.
2. Quick selection of auto features (night, landscape, high speed, etc.)
3. LONG battery life
4. Quick rewind and loading of 35mm. film

CONS:
1. Built in lens means no way to change lense (No going to a telephoto or macro lense.) What you see is what you get.

Summary: Very pleased
Review: I was very impressed by what this camera can do. It takes wonderful portrait shots of babies. I love the red eye reduction that this camera has to ofer. The date printed on the camera is also a great plus however I would have perfered it to print on the back of the camera instead of the front lower corner. I recommend reading the directions before taking photo as well you'll get a better use out of it.
