Description:

Konica describes its Hexar RF Limited Outfit (it includes a 35mm rangefinder camera body and a 50mm f1.2 M-Hexanon lens) as if it were a fine wine or a luxury sedan, using phrases such as "sophisticated body" and "premium model, exuding class and full of character." Indeed, this is a camera to be considered much like a rare wine--worth collecting if you can stomach the price. Konica is making only 2,001 units of this special edition available. A serial number confirming its limited-edition status is engraved on both the body and the lens (for example: 0001/2001).

Popular Photography rightly noted that the "most mouth-watering feature" of the Hexar RF Limited Outfit "is undoubtedly its very fast 50mm f1.2 M-Hexanon lens, a 6-group, 7-element design finished in matching titanium hue." Available only with the Limited Outfit, the ultrawide aperture M-Hexanon 50mm lens has a field of view of 45 degrees and lets you get as close to your subject as 2 feet, 11 inches. Konica has developed four additional interchangeable lenses specifically for the Hexar RF (28mm/f2.8, 35mm/f2, 50mm/f2.0, and 90mm/f2.8), plus it uses a Leica M-compatible mount, so it can also take Leica M lenses.

The Hexar RF Limited camera offers precision craftsmanship within an ergonomic casing; its titanium-and-black covering gives it a handsome look that belies its sturdy corrosion- and shock-resistant body. The R in the name stands for the double-image-superimposing rangefinder, which has a high-visibility, bright frame that lets the camera measure distances accurately. The vertical focal-plane shutter, represented by the F, operates at a fast 1/4,000 of a second, letting you capture all of the action.

You can select either aperture-priority autoexposure (AE) or the manual mode. The TTL center-weighted aperture photometer provides precise adjustments so your images are always properly exposed. Like the standard RF, the Limited includes a built-in motor drive capable of continuous, near-silent shooting at 2.5 frames per second. The Limited Outfit comes complete with a camera body, M-Hexanon lens, lens hood, 62mm UV filter, lens case, leather strap, and an attractive plush-lined presentation box.
