Description:

JVC's dual-deck XL-R2010BK CD recorder lets you burn CDs in the comfort of a living room with no need to use a computer as a go-between. Using a component CD recorder maintains audio quality during CD-to-CD transfers and greatly simplifies the process of committing analog sources like tapes, LP records, videocassettes, and radio to compact disc. Deck one plays, while deck two records (4x for CD-Rs and 2x for re-recordable CD-RWs). Optical digital-audio input and output facilitate hookup with a CD or minidisc player/recorder or a surround receiver, while analog RCA inputs and outputs accommodate just about any audio source.

In addition to random and continuous play (deck one to deck two), this player/recorder offers the unusual feature of mixing different input sources to the record deck, providing the ability to blend a CD's audio with the analog line input, or with the microphone input--absolutely perfect for immortalizing your voice on CD, especially with instrumental karaoke discs. A handy pitch-adjust knob (+/- 12 percent) helps put the disc you're singing along with into the right key. You can mix and record CD with line (analog) input, line with microphone, and microphone with CD.

You can also feed the recorder digital-audio signals from minidisc or DAT recorded at 32 or 48 kHz sampling rates, and the unit performs sampling-rate conversion to CD's native 44.1 kHz on the spot. A choice of auto or manual track writing lets you take the reigns to determine where the song breaks will be--or you can simply put the recorder on auto-pilot (with digital recordings) and it will duplicate the track start and end points found on the source disc.

As to playback quality, the XL-R2010BK's P.E.M. D.D. uses two independent pulse waves that are combined to more than double the effective resolution, greatly enhancing the signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range in the analog domain. It also comes with a full-function remote control and two Enhanced COMPU LINK Control System jacks for integrating the XL-R2010BK with other JVC components for easier operation.
